Thread: need help getting to ranger! PLEASE NEED TIPS PLEASE READ!!!!
ETtech said it, try to make it a social thing...you'd be surprised how much faster time seems to pass. I haven't had many groups I work with (a few core players, who so kindly joined me in camp to help pass the time
) but try this: set up south of Coronet outside of town (on Tempest server anyway) where there's always passers-by. Stay at the keyboard and talk to folks who stop in camp. I'd heal them, BS with them, they'd craft a bit, I'd craft a bit. They usually get something out of it too.. a rest..a heal...answers toquestions, etc. It actually got to be funny with other campers nearby doing the same thing. You'll make contacts. I've even camped once or twice after making master ranger just to see who'd stop by - plus a high tech field base tends to grab people's attention - with comments like 'this ain't a camp, it's a palace.'
If you really have to do it solo, set up camp, go afk, do your laundry, house chores, whatever, then come back periodically to change camps.
Some other ideas for camps could be settng up outside a city for RP opportunities. You could engage passers by in political discussions or discussions about the weather, etc. Or just spam shout advertisments for organics for sale, til somebody bites. I have had numerous medics and artisans drop by my camps to buy or trade resoruces. Stick to the same area and you might get regular visitors! Also try camping in areas where popular MOBs spawn and have a medic and entertainer on hand to help out all the combat types. And finally, exlporer missions. Although these are tedious missions, they pay fairly well and give you good opportunities to camp, heal yourself, make traps, make camps and move on to the next kill. I went through wilderness survival and trapping in the Scout profession in no time just doing explorer missions. There is always fishing too, which in the new publish is supposed to give more XP on adventure planets.
As far as crafting macros, there is NO afk crafting macro. check out the DE boards or the artisan boards for crafting macros. You still have to manually insert the resources, but they can go faster. Plus as a ranger, with a nice camp people will more likely want to use your camp than someone elses, find groups that need rangers and have fun. If you cant enjoy the camps I would switch to some other profession.

When I am hunting with friends we take it in turns to setup camp so as to share out the exp.
When I setup my High Quality camp, I get lots of comments about what an awesome camp it is. My head swells up so large I swear it will burst one day ![]()
