I use bleed shots and surounding wildlife/NPC's to help in un-Buffed un-Armored fighting. You have to pick you targets accordingly but getting a Nightsister Ranger/Elder and an Anchient Bull Rancor to duke it out, sneak in few bleeds to them both and watch the show. A low level pet or good defences should allow you to finish of the winner without much dificulty.

Is there any special way you go about getting the Nightsister and Rancor to fight eachother? Most of the time when I try to do something like this, they walk right past eachother and don't do anything at all. Is there something I'm missing?

I bleed the Rancor and once it starts to come my way I drag it to the Nightsister. Not 100% but usually they will fight each other. You can also use bleed and drag the Rancor (better if you are over 100 mask/conceal) thru half of Dathomir. If you toss in a few AOE attacks you can harvest a bunch of the carnage.

Also does anyone know the command for self healing? I hate having to untarget to heal myself. Is it something like /heal damage self?

/healdamage self

(at least I'm pretty sure that's it
I'm not sure if you can specify a stimpack though. It seems to just randomly take what's in your pack. So it's best to put the highest stimpack you're able to use in your main pack.

As for my solo techniques, I'm a rifleman, so... basically: No armor, brandy, maskscent/camo, conceal shot/mindshot/suppression shot... and harvest. Specifically:

No Armor. It just sits in my pack taking up space. Whenever I buff and wear Comp, or even Ubese I just end up getting lazy with tactics. I have less of a chance of dying, but it doesn't help me kill anything quicker so why bother.

I drink brandy mostly.. sometimes accaragm, for Action.
For brandy, I use +412-419. I'll wait a few minutes until I can drink another, and stack the buff up to +824, and sometimes - If I'm using a rifle with really high mind special attack cost - I'll stack it to +1232. Usually one brandy is good enough until it runs out 30-40 minutes later.

I check the creature stats to see their weakest defenses (one day I'll memorize them all) and choose the right rifle.
Conceal shot, mindshot, and suppression fire are my most used shots. I always start off prone at 64m and will /peace if it changes to less than 50m to reposition myself. Mindshot takes them out quicker, but there's more chance of being discovered, so... I never spam mindshot unless I can kill it in 3 or 4 hits (4-5k HAM). Otherwise, I'll use mindshot one at a time, and keep an eye on the creature. As soon as it aggros on me, I'll use suppression fire (almost no pause for the next special) followed by another mindshot, followed by another suppress/mindshot. If it gets less than 30m I'll just run normally and use suppression fire or warning shot... unless it's something that runs faster than me and uses a DeathBlow.. Then I'll /burstrun and hope to find some friendly faction NPCs and draw the creature into them for the extra firepower. Sometimes creature mobs seem to help, but other times they ignore them. I'm not sure how that works, but it's great when it does.

Oh, another tactic.. If I have to run away fast, I always switch to my spraystick. The accuracy is poor, the damage is kind of low, but the speed is great and makes up for it. And a DXR6 or T21 doesn't help much when something's right on your heels.
