The ones in kotor were very similar to the ones in Deus Ex

Sorry, these are the random grumblings of THE crankiest old Ranger, and I thought we could have a good discussion about these doohickies.
I thought that was JB.
It is probably up for debate whether Fred, JB, or I am the crankiest...mine just manifests itself on teamspeak with my guild. I have to be good on these boards while I have the blue name

As a some what grizzled old vet I hate the idea of cybernetics in the game unless they are covered and do not give an advantage. I think this game would degenerate into Cyber Wars Galaxies with a bunch of bionic men women and aliens running around. Personally I do not think SWG has much Star Wars feel to it now. And what there is would be lost to the cyber people. I DO like the idea of scaring for those who want to show battle wounds and trophies. Hell I like the idea of allowing my toons to age a bit. But please I would rather not play "The $6 Million Man Galaxies"
Just my opinion,I hope no one takes it personally.

recent threads started by Rangers.
/raise hand
i never said that they would be implemented though. First i heard of cybernetics was TH in the dev chat where they wouldnt answer why they were in the patch file we downloaded, if i remember right he just said its cool or sumet along those lines.
Since then its come up in a few threads.

Let's get some stuff straight - I am THE cranky old Ranger.
This cybernetic stuff sounds straight outta Chris Bunch and Star Risk, not the SW series. "Besters" need to move along and find a new game, Dues Ex comes to mind (always liked that game).
All the little l33t mo-rons will have to have the stuff. Hope there are built in glitches and malfunctions. Who would fix that ? A doc, a DE or a mechanic?
Me and my 4 boxes of FS will be quite happy.

I don't think it should be common to "volenteer" to have your original equipment removed for one. Perhaps, only vets and then only long standing vets. After years of battle, and in a single profession, should the "unfortunate" occure and you would need one.
If for no other reason it would reward the dedicated and tic off the holochasers.
I love this idea

IF JB comes on TS and has a cranky contest with you I have to listen. I don't care which member of WE I have to kick off in order to do so!

Eh...we all know the Rangers are taking over..I recruited another one today...he lives in a stupid time zone, so he probably won't interfere with normal traffic). I do expect to be banned for the server someday

A bit of canon? Luke lost his hand and Vader is described by Obi-Wan as more machine then man.
But if that happens, and cybernetics become popular, won't most players just become twisted and evil....oh nevermind...

Ah bring on the bolt ons. Die x many times, (given that unless your doing it nekkid you will suffer damage to your equipment) and you run a chance of cloning badly. You need a part replaced. No choice. No planning. Random. Luck of the draw.
And it isn't an enhancement but a replacement. At best it'll give you a slight resist to heat/cold but maybe make you more susceptible to electric. Can't wear armour over the affected part either. So, you're going to suffer just to look 'cool'
Oh aye, and only for veterans. Us old toons need something to set us apart other than a bio.

I like the idea of veteran rewards such as scars, eye-patches, maybe a hobbleemote or two...and I will even entertain implants / cybernetics* if* they have no benefit other than enhancing my roleplaying experience
