Thread: Bounty Hunter Grouping = Welcomed by most

Zarn,

Players police themselves all the time. They CHOOSE not to kill-steal. They CHOOSE not to make off with a players weapon while slicing it. Etc. Then again, some players choose poorly, and make jerks of themselves.

I agree with you----/rescue should let you jump in and play the defender that you want to play. But as it stands now with the TEF's, it can be used an an exploit. The worst case being a non-consentual PvP situation, a death-blow, and maybe even a nasty corpse loot (*shudder*).

It must be fixed. Even if you have no intention of abusing it, someone will.

Sorry, BoyofLight---if you didn't get it yet, then you never will.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

/rescue Garand

Hmmm... we as the Ranger community ask for BH's thoughts about a topic, and then flame them when they tell us how they feel. I believe all that Garand was saying is that it is very frustrating to run these BH missions, and to have someone jump in without asking first is incredibly rude. I don't see any reason why he should be flamed... especially not on a topic that by the title implies his profession.

For that matter.. this thread has gone COMPLETELY off topic to begin with.. this thread was to announce that you should try to stand near the BH mission terminal and "ASK" bounty hunters if they would like some backup on their next mission... as one of my threads on the BH forum suggested that several players are very interested in this sort of help as BH missions are tough.

Easy fix... Remove /Rescue's ability to aggro a player, thereby opening a PvP Temperary Ememy Flag. Let it work on Creatures and NPCs as intended as it is one of the FEW abilities we have that is actually working/usefull!

I dont know about the rest of my fellow Rangers, but as a neutral character I LIKE being able to help people in need, be they Bounty Hunter vs mark, Rebel vs Imperial (NPCs) or Marksman vs gorg.

I Do Not, however, think it should allow us to open up unwelcomed PvP. That is wrong and should be fixed Immediately so as to save the Ranger's good name from possible abusers.

By the way, using this method to participate in the GCW is sure safer (if less rewarding) than becoming a Covert with all the exploits still in effect.

"Daddy, what's that bad man doing to my (Star Wars)?"

"Son, that bad man is (SOE), and he's **edit**ing your (Star Wars)."

I am a BH on Starsider, and I like the possibilities here. However, there is alot of room for griefing here as well.

I am all for teaming up with a Ranger for some group BH mission action, but do so without my consent, and I will consider it harrassment.

/rescue my mark, and I will throw everything I have at you, then report you for harrassment.

It's really a shame that this will be abused more often than not...

Garand let me make it clear to you that although u are hired to kill a person it is not YOUR mark. the only thing you may own in this game is a house droid pet or anything in your inventory... Everythign else is free target and sucks for you if someone comes chasing it

Boyoflight, what you just described is kill stealing. Kill stealing is wrong, don't try to justify it, it is wrong.

Actually, unlike regular destroy missions, it is my mark. No one else in the game can target him unless they have the same BH mission that i do, which should be impossible. Messing with any BH's mark mission these days is a dangerous proposition at best. They are very difficult to complete, and pay little or even nothing in the end.

But that was not my point.

Steal my mark from me, and I will consider it harrassment. It will cause me to auto-fire on you, therefore initiating PvP combat that I did not consent to.

I state again, however, that are positive ways that this technique can be utilized to benefit both the Ranger and BH.
