Not to flame or anything, but a Ranger who has spent time really exploring the planets and noticing the differences between dominant fauna in each area will make a far more effective hunter than someone who worked their way up the profession while they watched that xp monitor the whole time. Please don't paint me with that brush. I've been a ranger for a couple of months, I got ranger to hunt, and hunting is what I do. Naboo is not a planet I go to often to hunt, I generally go to the advanced planets, so I was not that familiar with the spawn patterns, but then again, neither was any of the other people that I mentioned so we were all on equal footing as far as that goes.

Ok, my 2 creds worth.

You took carbine, arguably the worst weapon to pick in the entire game, totally borked. You are dabbling in CH, which IMHO is a waste of points if you do not master.

You thought areatrack would help you find creatures. It does, if they have spawned. I always try and get at least one mission for what I am hunting. Then I walk to the mission, doing areatrack every 500 m. Amazing what I find. Riding means you go past spawns and miss things. Sometimes critters don't spawn if you go by too fast.

Ok, nuts and bolts. My personal template -

Drop CH and carbine and go rifle or pistol. Ignore ranged support, sucks unless you have the pts, skill and experience, to 4 block it. Unless you want to use warning shot til you get to the novice rifleman or pistoleer blocks, but only til then.

Get more medical skills, but realize you will be dropping all but pharm 1 at the triple master level.

You end up as a Master Scout/Master Ranger/Master Rifleman or Pistoleer/Novice Medic with pharm 1. Good combat skills, good hunting skills, decent medical skills (stim Bs). I kick butt in both PvP and PvE. I had carbine, when I realized it was borked, it went bye bye. (Master Marksman actually, and had started on both the rifle and carbine routes at one time or another).

I get level 25 missions off the terminals. Solo. My pet actually drags me down - stupid level 10, where is my BE?? Most people actually drag me down for that matter. I mess with the levels by equipping different weapons.

So that's my advise, no flame. Quit with the dabble and master stuff.

Gold,

Sorry, I realized after I posted that that I wasn't being fair. My apologies.

I was 2 2 4 1 ranger and droped it to do other things. I am 2 3 3 4 Bounty Hunter now with some carbines. I am hunting 1000 OQ bones now for 2 days and found out, that i realy liked the ranger skills although they are not realy that good. I droped carbines and got ranger back - from the animals i got 70 bones as master scout i get now 71 bones a novice ranger. and as i remember it will not be much better then with tracking 4 - i think a Master Ranger should get at least double the amount of ressources then a Master Scout.

But i will do Ranger to 0 0 4 3 i think and hope something improves with the next patches

I wouldn't agree with you on this. When I was master ranger/master pistoleer + ranged support, I could take on almost any creature in the game (some needed more tactics then other, but never the less I soloed Kimos, Krayts, Ancient Bull Rancors and any other big game creature in the game, except for Gorax). Right now I had to drop master ranger and ranged support for a crafting profession. As I found out yesterday, with master pistoleer I can barely kill Sharnaff Bull now (and that's with one of a kind krayt gun with max damage 460 with no power-up). I had no problems at all killing Sharnaff Bulls before, cause I had traps or Suppression fire and warning shot to slow them down. Now, I can't do much with them, just knockdown and spam specials while running around.

If you feel like ranger isn't adding anything to PvE, try hunting the same creatures after you drop ranger and you'll see huge difference! I can't wait till they add some more things to ranger and I can return to the class I like best in this game.

Very good points. I have one question for the Ranged Combat people though.

I was a Bounty Hunter with another character(DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!) so I had to take Ranged Support. Aim at level 1 seemed the same as Aim at level 4. As far as the Warning Shots and rolls...well, I don't need to tumble to kneeling. I just need to kneel. So, what is it about Ranged Support that the pro-RS'ers use or like? I'm just trying to understand your views since the only useful skill I used with that tree was Aim.
