On the tracking... I seem to recall that it starts at something like 250-350m, then it bumps up to 500m, then you get more choices of waht to track?
I could be wrong. I might've just been using it in cases where there wasn't much out there.

If I won't be distracted with chasing rebels again I'll drop the tracking tree tomorrow to do some tests, enough app xp stored to get back to master in no time.

go to the TC servers with the blue frogs. no reason to discard tons of XP.

I prefer staying on live atm to be able to react fast on some situations

I think there is a better way (even if they did take down the TC2 servers). We just need two people who know what I am talking about to try it (we only need to try novice level tracking, really, as I'm pretty sure it is 500m there). I'll go check if anyone can help with this now. It is somewhat important.

Ok, on a server that I can't really talk about (but that Calc almost certainly knows what I mean), tracking ranges are different at different levels. Because of certain restrictions that I can't fully disclose (one of them being that I could only really use a static NPC in a town for my tests), I can only provide three levels worth of info:
Tracking 2 (where you get NPCs): 380m
Tracking 3 (where you get distance): 440m
Tracking 4 (where you get players): 500m
I highly recommend that this be done on a different server (probably TC with Calc's help as he can level Ranger for free there) using a creature that is not moving and another player to keep it from despawning (this was preventing me from testing level 1 and novice). I'm guessing Novice will be about 240m (maybe 250m or 320m), tracking 1 probably at 320m, and Master at either 500m or 560m. I guess there is a bonus to picking up higher levels of tracking. Or you could ask the Devs to provide this info..... You are doing them a favor with this but I'm guessing they will be a bit busy.
P.S. Don't forget to mention harvest increases, possibly listing each level of Ranger as a percent increase over Master Scout (or even Novice Scout if they are having you include that info as well) as it is useful information for those who will be considering if Ranger is worth it.

Ah well, got logged in this morning during my coffee break (that's the 'wake me up' one, not the 'lets stop work for 15 minutes as we've been here two hours' one). Tried connecting to TC-Bria as both TC2's have been wiped. Couldn't get in on the duplicate of my Live toon, so rolled a fresh one, juggled his stats to make him suited to rifleman, dropped to the surface and.... no froggies.
Somehow I doubt even the Chocolate Leezard has the 'clout' to get them reinstated, so, while it was a good idea, looks like our rangefinding test experiment was just too late in inception.
However, it's got me to thinking, well, it's not as though am going to actually WORK this morning! We ought to get a list of "Frog Lickin' Tests". Stuff like, how much HAM do the different traps use, what ranges for throwing at what skill level, how much does whatever affect whatever...
OK, coffee is here. Better make it look like am typing up an article...

Have had up to track 4 and have recently reduced to track 3 and ive notice no difference in radius.
