Thread: Belligerent Rangers
Here was my situation:
Friday morning, 3:00am (right before the patch). I just qualified for Field Bio IV. I am standing next to the Starport. I do a search for Rangers, one on the entire planet (A Master).
Margor (me): "Sir, I am sorry to bother you, but if are you available I would be in your debt for Field Bio IV please."
Master Ranger: within seconds "Sure, I'll be right there, where are you?"
Margor: "Oh, I'll come to you, thank you so much for helping me."
I had barely finished typing my reply when he came running up to my location (he must of had /areatrack early or been psychic:smileyhappy![]()
/tip him 1000
/tips me back 1000
Master Ranger: "It's free", and then he trains me in Field Bio IV.
That is part of the reason I love being a Ranger; the community. The Master Ranger's name was Iric, and I just want to say Thank you again. Someone wrote a post shortly after the post asking what happened to our community, it is still there, alive and kicking. I think the people that are rude will probably find the Ranger profession not to their liking and will drop it and find something else. The rest of us will enjoy a great profession and community.
Oh, and if anyone onWanderhome needs any Ranger training I am 2-3-4-4, please give me a /tell, I am usually on Talus or Coronet.
R/S
the reciprocal, just so you know:
Ranger: "hello, can u possibly teach me front. 2?"
Mokazza: : " yes, but i am out in the woods right now."
Ranger: "are you on your way to rebel hideout?"
Mokazza: "never been there, don't kow where it is"
-Sends WP_
mokazza: "only 2k, omw"
Was a lot of faction/guild chat along the way. found rebel hideout, trained him, he tipped me 500. nice gesture. i mail here's what <AR> is about. mail me if you would like more onfo..seeya.
good deal
I've also had an incident like this...
Trainee: I need Trapping IV
Me: Ok, I can train you.
Trainee: I'm in Coronet,outside port
Me: Well, I cannot come to you, I am just outside Coronet in the middle of a camp session. You can find me at *coordinates*
Trainee: *no response*
Well, if he can't run JUST outside of Coronet to be trained I guess he really didn't need it after all...
who the heck charges for training, and why? I'd never charge anyone for training even if I'm broke, it doesn't take anything from the trainer and even though Im over my needed apprenticeship xp, Id never charge nor ask for tips. I really dont see the point of paying unless the person is coming 5k out of their way.

Yes, I paid for all but two of my Ranger blocks. No, I do not need app points. Here's a simple solution.
You see a Ranger. You need training. Take a few seconds and do a search. Does that character appear on the list? If so, ask away. If not, they are non-searchable for reasons that need not be explained.
hello
Sorry you had a bad experience Zeke but i think the community is still a good one. I know several master rangers on wanderhome and we are all willing to train others. I had to pay for probably 75 % of my training and so I know how bad that sucks. Anyway if any of my fellow Rangers or even any dabblers on Wanderhome want trainign just send me a tell.

Currently im 4-4-2-4... ill be a Master within 2 days as long as the grouping on Dathomir holds out like it has been (even if it doesnt, ill just maskscent and walk around the place, xp rolls in like water). Ive learned half of what i know from the trainer and the other half from some very kind rangers.
I have had one bad expereince tho. I was in need of learning Wayfaring 2, i was in Anchorhead on Tatooine. A guy wearing a Wayfayer title seemed like a good place to start. I ask him in spatial if he can train me. I use /bow2 (im TKA as well) to show respect. He sends me a tell saying "ill train you for 1k". Now, it was actually my intention to tip him 2k... until he asked for it. I told him no, not like he doesnt get anything for it, theapprenitice pts are valuable. Well, he was maxed out (as i am now) but his attitude left alot to be desired. I got on the shuttle to Mos Entha and paid the trainer there 6k.
I train for free and i will continue to do so. Only thing iask is that the guy i train goes hunting with me if im out in the field. Seems like a fair trade to me ![]()
I'm on Gorath and Rangers are few and far between - mostly because of the times I play and that it is a European-heavy server (8 hour time difference). I pay for a lot of my training.
Whenever I need training, I do a search. I always /tell politely and expect the same in return. I have the attitude that I am asking for something that the other person doesn't have to give me...
Yesterday I needed Trapping 3 and I did a search and found a Hunt Master. I sent him a /tell and he must have been AFK becuase it took him a while to reply. When he did, he sent me some coords and I ran out to his FB. Great guy. We talked for a while and then we parted company. That is what it's all about. If he ever needs anything in the field, I'll be sure to stop what I'm doing to help him out.
Alway ask politely...
Well, I WILL accept tips for training, but I definitely won'tdemand payment. The few people I saw in searching for training that COULD never responded to me. EVER. I'm always polite, respectfuland patient when I'm giving and recieving tells as well.
I paid for every single one of my skill boxes. Not easy when you're sick of doing destroy missions over and over again. I give out any training(for rifle or scout skills to for that matter) totally free of charge. I at least feel I'm giving something to the community that I didn't have when I was learning the ropes of the ranger class.
By the way, if we have any up and coming rangers on Valcyn that read these boards, look me up. I'm on Talus right now (I like the scenery, the selection of creatures to hunt, and the relative absence of people out in the field
) but I'll even go as far as planet-hop to help out our community. I'll even do some camp-sitting with you if you need the survival xp. ![]()
Personaly, I don't care too much about getting tipped. Only beacuse I won't go out of my way to train anyone (except for PA memeber) If I am in the area, or you come to me, great. That is all fine and dandy. But I am not going to hop a shuttle on my own dime, unless I was heading there anyway.

Same thing happened to me last night on Dathomir.
I use CTRL+P, then search for other Rangers to train me. Beats spamming. Heh.. Plenty came up on Dath last night.
So one Master is close by in Northern Outpost, and as I go ask him for training, he is already involved in an arguement with another potential trainee, haggling over how much he should get paid. He wanted 5k for any skill, so I said I would rather pay the NPC trainer than pay you, and that's how it stood. The other guy must have been desperate. I sent him a tell
I found another fellow Rebel trainer later on on Dath who was happy to train me for free so no big deal.
Sad part is, the same handjob who denied my training over money came by my camp in the wilderness of Dathomir and made fun of my camp. I only have Frontieering II, and he was Master, so whatever. It disgusted me knowing a Master Ranger is out there at that pathetic level of maturity to not only ask for money to get paid, but attempt to belittle my Field Base.
It's great however knowing a plethora of other Rangers exist on Bria who are not children. I understand being broke, and asking for a little something for training of that caliber, but to demand payment of that extent is a bit much.
I've only met one Belligerent Ranger on Tempest. And he was actually a BH who read that the 3l33t BH's all have some ranger skills as well....... What a jerk.
All of the REAL rangers on Tempest are extremely nice though. There's a master who has been training me whenever we're on the same planet. He's also a CH, so I keep an eye out for tamable babies he might be interested in.
When people ask me about tipping for training in scout (or lower level ranger) skills, I generally tell them that I got most of my training for free, so all I ask is that they pass it on to others. (I don't train people who yell for training though. It's too easy to just search for a Scout, Ranger, CH, BH, etc if you need scout skills. No-one needs to disturb the whole town looking for free training.)
Anyway, I've never met a rude ranger on Tempest (with one notable exception), and I've never met a polite BH. *grin*
