I don't believe this was directed at any one in particular. What he is referring to is that there have been a lot of posts giving ideas that have already been quite thoroughly discussed in a previous thread. Some of those ideas are in the State of the Profession or the Outdoorsman proposal. Some were also turned down for some reason or another. JB just wants people to do a bit of reading before posting so that he doesn't have to feel like a broken record. He's mainly telling people to read the State of the Profession and Outdoorsman proposals quite carefully and to do at least a forum search on topics similar to what people are posting. He is not asking people to stop posting new ideas. He's asking them to try and check that they are really new ideas before posting them.

Ok, lets get back on topic.

I have read almost all of JB's posts and if he thinks you are wrong, he will say so directly and not make a vague statement, he carries a rifle not a shotgun. I have been down his sniper scope once or twice, and when that has happened, I take it at face value. 9 times out of 10, hes right, other times we just have different ideas.

Lets not jump on anyone because of this. I think his post has a lot of value and really sums up the situation well. We are ignored and underappreciated and underpowered in this game. If I didnt have so much fun being a ranger and if I didnt like the people on the boards so much, I would have left a while ago.

/cheer I dropped ranger 2 weeks after getting master and I miss it so, I fell no advantage at this point to go back though. I still have most of scout (dropped the trapping tree to free up points) and would love to go back, IF it gave me a better bonus to harvesting!!! Though all the BS at this point that is all I want. I support you JB, go for it.

And this fellow Ranger's....is EXACTLY why I nominated Agon for our correspondent.

Now to JB's thread and more specifically Delta's response...I have to admit he is right. One has to wonder though, what would the Dev's think if the Charles Xavier or the SWG forums, suddenly let loose the hounds of war and went totally Wolverine until we got what we wanted?

Make no mistake I am not requesting or condoning such behaviour, but you have to at least speculate as to whether the Dev's take our community for granted. We have ALWAYS been the mild mannered, articulate, well thought out forum. Not the BH, Commando, or Jedi forum. Would they raise an eyebrow if they caught a whiff of unrest here? A rumbling of discontent that caused their coffe cups to shake right on their very desks? The fear of potentially waking a sleeping dragon?

I forget exactly who it was, but they made a great point in stating that Wookies, Chef's, Commando's and now apparently Image Designers (oy vey) have received a revamp or some direct lub as we refer to it from the devs, by stomping their feet and shouting or doing whatever is necessary to get the devs attention. Whoa, run on sentence. Sorry. Anyway!

I would implore you Delta, in the interim, whether we are a priority or not, make them aware of us. You may very well be right in being concerned about what could happen if the entire gang went and followed JB to the Dark Side. We are no less deserving than any other profession of a revamp or attention. We've been promised new traps, camps, and skills since August, and we continue to wait patiently. Very soon though it may not be so patiently. Maybe they haven't realized that ANOTHER August is almost upon us.

Btw...JB...I love your posts and your presence in this community. I am merely making a point in referring to you here.

Well, it's been clarified so I'm cool. Again, keep in mind there is no header upon entering the forums that states "Read all relevent threads before posting any new ideas." So while I agree, people should do their research before posting something that may have been talked about the week prior, they should not be faulted for doing so. Simply direct them to the topic that is similiar to their current post and allow them to read over what is there. After they do that, it may open them up to some ideas they may not have considered and see the communities stance on that topic. It seems that right now the most interesting idea proposed involves sending out a document to all the crafting professions we are directly involved with and the galaxy forums to bring attention to our plight. Should we be focusing on this or is the revision to the Outdoorsman Proposal our #1 priority right now?

Something I feel I just need to add here. The idea of the ranger community whining or throwing a tantrum just irks me. I have worked in some shelters for runaways and abused children before, and on occasion those kids would throw temper tantrums and try to get their way. Some Counselors would fall victim to this and give in, but the truth is they are just rewarding what is called "Junk behavior." This type of behavior happens everytime someone doesnt get their way and someone gives in to them just to get them to stop. The Jedi, Commando, Bounty Hunter and a few others display this behavior quite often, and while not all members of their groupare guilty of it, they are still a part of that group and could help maintain a level of maturity and keep things as focused and organized as the Ranger community has. The developers have displayed a horrible habit of rewarding "junk behavior" and while it may seem to work for those professions that whine about until they get their way, it is going to be a matter of time before the devswise up. What happens if after the Jedi Revamp, the jedi community whines again? Does the development team give them ANOTHER two publishes fora revamp? I certainly hope not. I think the current direction is the right way to go. I know I certainly appreciated it when the kids at the shelter would refrain from whining and just do as they were asked and contribute in apositive way. Those particular kids, while they did always get what they asked for when they asked for it, would get a huge reward at a later time for being so helpful. And they were grateful of everything they got, because they know they earned it. This community is no different. The Ranger community is like the older more mature kid living at the shelter. It watches the other kids whine and get things before them just to get the whiners to shut up, but at the end of the day, its the one who gets to stay up late watching movies and getting all the treats. Just a matter of time guys.

That's great and all, but that mature, older kid at the shelter didn't pay $50 to get in, and then $15 for rent to stay, did he? Did he get 31 other choices of places to go that were equally as fulfilling, or in some cases even better? I know exactly what you mean, but being patient is costing me money. The sooner the changes are made, the sooner my experience with SWG is worth the money Im paying.

No JB's not calling you a Noob, at least not yet but wait until you say something that he doesn't agree with. You see JB thinks he knows what a noob is but I think we can all tell a Horses Azz when we hear one.

Yes, yes we can.

Well, while you wait, why don't you go explore those other, 32 professions actually, and come back to ranger once it is fixed. I feel confident in sayint that anyone who starts whining to the devs about ranger without having the backing of the community first is probably going to go it alone.

Well no, I agree. We're all paying good hard earned money to play here (or, in the cases of some less-wellbehaved classes, their parents well earned money). We're just as important as the Image Designers and the Commando. Infact, I'd venture to say moreso. I really don't recall much of an outcry from the Image Designer community at all... or much of a need for one, after all. I mean, come on. God forbid we can't get a new hairdo.

We ought to be the premier PVE profession. Think about it. What other professions are so strickly focused on PVE? CH? Sure, I'd consider them a close 2nd, But then everything else in the line falls away. Everything else is either an artisan profession, a combat profession, or a support profession.

And I'm not saying we're better than any other profession, so please do not mistake this. I'm saying, clearly, of "fighting" "non-weapon" Elite professions, we're it.

And in a game where EVERYONE who isn't a pure mule needs to kill something, PVE ought to be a huge focus of SOE.

Follow the line of reason, and viola. Does this mean we should get PVP abilities? Dunno.. they said everyone will have an impact on the GCW. I'd be just as happy if we couldn't PVP. Less twinks. I'd like to think most, if not all of us, came to Ranger because we enjoy hunting creatures. Plain and simply.

---

On a seperate note... don't think that whining always helps. Sometimes, it can backfire.

Point and case: Jedi. With the loss of Force Sensitive Slot, players will now have to turn their main characters into their Jedi's. That means people who make a wookiee, or a twi'lek, who decide to go Jedi.. well, hope you like being a weak melee fighter! They whined and whined for changes, and now they drew attention to themselves.

I do believe that the idea with coordinating with the elite craft professions, to bring attention to our cause, is a great idea- sitting and biding our time isn't exactly working too. Do you want to be fixed before or after Image Designers and Commandos? I know some of you don't care, but I'd prefer sooner.

The Devs priorities are based on wide view of the game - not merely on professions, but on everything. They know what is possible and is impossible, they know the vision they have for where the game is going, and they know which professions and groups out there need the most attention. While second-guessing those in authority is a national pastime in America and other places, all it generally does is get you frustrated and upset.

Then thatsSOE's fault for letting us speculate then isn't it

If they have got a plan why don't they simply come out and say"right here's where you are in it and if you don't like it tuff" - At least then we'd know. Yes we might **edit** and moan but thats the other (inter)national pastime isn't it And it would all die down in a while when we could all see the "masterplan". Its the silence that is annoying this board inparticular (I think). If they have a point of view to share with this board about why we should be patient then they need to share it. Communication has been one way here for too long hence the restlessness.

Even if a dev (TH or whoever)came in here and posted the word *wibble* I think it would calm down a few. If he stuck his underpants on his head and put two pencils up his nose I think that would be going to far (obscure blackadder reference for those who think I've gone mad) but at least I think people would get the general idea that thier concerns are not being ignored

Anyway its sunday, my local pub is shut for referbishment and I'm all out of curry. Its all wrong!!! *grumble*

(Btw Delta thanks for trying to do something which is completely better than nothing :tongue
