I would say that would be the best...most people know if they are only here to dabble, that the Tracking line +whatever combat skills that they can get is the way to go.

I forgot to mention that you stange folks with Master Ranger and Master Squad Leader, Master Dancer, etc should post yours as well...

Hey now, if SL had some more stuff and was really cool, and got a few fixes, it and master ranger would be the ultimate group/hunt leader template. Like for the Rangers of Bria huntsI used to do all the time. Honestly, with as much firepower that came along, I didn't really need to help out with my little pistols. Master squad leader and master ranger could/should be the ultimate safari hunt leader. Just like master rifleman master ranger could/should/is the ultimate sniper.

Am I the only ranger pistoleer?

Well it looks like Tash will someday become a Master Ranger, Master Image Designer does that count? Actually I wouldn't recommend that template to anyone. It actually makes my head hurt to think of it, and it is my character.

The second Ranger I have planned (just need to pick a server and species) is:
- Master Ranger
- Master Pikeman
- Medic 1000

I have never been a Pikeman, but I have seen them in action. The ability to hit multiple animals at once means that you can take out whole spawns at a time. When hunting with a Pikeman I rarely bother to shoot - I just run over and harvest the piles.

Master Ranger + Master Combat profession = 18 extra skill points. It look like most everyone uses these for three boxes of CH or one box of medic.

My planned template will eventually be:

Master Ranger

Master Pikeman

So far I am 4122 in Pikeman, and

Metuhlahkk the Wookiee
Eclipse Server
Teras Kasi Master & Master Doctor

Ignantius
Kettemoor Server
Zabrak Ranger & Pikeman

Master Ranger - Master Rifleman - Medic 1,0,0,0

Main:

Provides the player with hunting skills and harvest bonuses to complement a very powerfull combat profession.

Pros:

Massive Damage Output (rifle)

Single Pull Capability (rifle) - Over 40m a rifleman has a huge chance to pull a single creature from a pack

Camo Bonuses (ranger) - Using camo kits give the player many shots without getting attacked

Prone Bonuses (rifle) - Using prone gives lots of shots unagro'd, coupled with Camo too you get 20+ shots un-agro'd

Keep Critters At Range (ranger) - Pheascene and Adhesive Mesh slow and root creatures

Harvest Bonuses (ranger) - You can harvest more off a single creature than most

Damage Types (rifle) - You have a massive selection of damage types to hit creatures weaknesses

Able To Heal (medic)

Able To Track Animals (ranger) - Using /areatrack enables you to find rare and valuable critters

Single Pool Shots (rifle) - /headshots allow you to attack a creature and work on one pool

Cons:

Lack Of Melee Defenses (rifle/ranger) - Compared to melee classes, week in defenses against creatures

Range Causes Harvesting Problems (rifle/ranger) - Have to run to target to harvest

High HAM Costs (rifle) - You will need enhancers (food, spice) to hunt effectively.

Lots of SP Cost (misc) - Ranger and scout cost alot of SP, could be spent elsewhere

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Pretty much the same with the exception that under "Cons" I don't have a Range havesting issue, I send in the droid.

My template is a work in progress. I've been using swgcb.yogn.net to test some out

Definate Professions:

Master

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eheast Drolatch
Master Master Weaponsmith, Novice Pistoleer, Slicer
Member of the "Old School"

D'oh. Let's try this again...

My template is a work-in-progress, but here's what I'm going for.....today at least

Master Ranger (obviously)

Master Rifleman

Creature Handler 0/3/0/0

Benefits for Master Ranger have been stated repeatedly, as have the benefits of Master Rifleman.

The reasoning behind CH, is that as an Outdoorsman, Eheast wants to minimize his reliance on technology.

Mounts instead of speeders, natural healing (resting in camps) as opposed to stims and buffs, self harvesting as opposed to droids. Also, the CH will give him companionship and defensethat he will need, as he doesn't enjoy hunting and exploring with other players (Soloist).

Obviously, there are some minor exceptions. Rifles as opposed to melee weapons is the biggest flaw in this logic I can see

Not sure how this will work out, we'll have to see...

Greetings!

I did Master Swordsman with Ranger. It is a exceptional PVE skill and with it , buffs, and my tiny bit of medical there isn't a whole lot I can't kill and somewhat easily. I know it fun anyway! I wish you luck choosing though .. I say do what you enjoy! (Its a game)
