I find /areatrack extremely useful. The only time I use it to track players however is when I want to meet up with my friends - and now they have /findfriend for that. People who PvP might find it more useful for watching for raiding parties and such.
Mainly when I am out hunting I use /areatrack to find things worth my while to kill. You have to pick your hunting ground wisely though and avoid heavy populated areas. So it is a good tool in certain situations. I definitely miss it when I play my non-ranger characters.

Hey srry but this is the standard Novice BH question. And Going After Calc is Not a good way to win friends in here.

How usefull is tracking for hunting down other players? And is it as usefull for hunting down creatures as people think?
I have said it before and I will say it again. I am NOT a BH. The main reason I asked that is because I want to RP a ranger that hunts down players and was just wondering if it was an "effective" option. And from what Ive hear I can still do this but in a more limited fashon than what I origionally thought.
I was NEVER trying to "go after Calc" I was simply trying to clearify my question.

Well I suppose that giving the ability on level 4 to track people is better than nothing. From what it sounds like we can track all the rest of the people/players that a BH droid cannot... i.e. the leftovers... lol. Well I know this is probably more of a combat question and probably should be asked on a different discusion threadhowever here I ask it, what is the point of hitting a creature with a trap that invokes states of dizziness and stun? Does it make their attacks equal less power in their strikes because they hurt me just as much even when they are trapped. I prefer the Pdart so I can move off some and hit them. Would using the trap that breaks down their defence be better than the Stun/Dizzy trap? All observations appreciated.

There are3 ways to "track" a player.
1. Bounty Hunter Droid
2. Area Track
3. Find Friend command
The problem is each one has limitations and advantages.
What some people are saying is you must be standing still to use Area Track and the range is only 500 meters so if the jedi is running or on a speeder by the time the Area track cycles through the guy would be out of your range.
Giving some circumstances Area Track works well over a droid becuase it shows a list of every player within 500 meters but the Bounty hunter Droid does track better
