Unfortunatly I'm really, really, really bummed that the dev's reduced the amount of hide/bone/meat we take from animals by about 40 to50 percent, so the one of my most enjoyable parts of the game has lost quite a bit of it's appeal.

I agree totally. I'm hoping that this was just yet another error on the devs' part and not an intentional stealth nerf. I'm having to resort to destroy missions again just to get by on creds...

I'm having a great time really, probably a combination of a good PA, Lok, and personal taste.

I'm having a ball hunting snorbals at the moment. As a rifleman/ranger it's not easy, but it's that challenge that makes it fun for me. To make the kill I use a full array of Ranger skills.

I tend to use every single skill, and they work for me. I'm always either maskscented or camo'd, just to get those extra shots without detection.

I used my traps consistently whilst hunting, adhesives, phencanine, glow wire, and the ranger traps when they're working properly.

I use /areatrack a ton. Either solo or in a group I can find more prey very easily. It's probably the thing groups want the most from a Ranger. I've been invited to a few groups just because of it.

I probably use /rescue a lot more then most. I've saved many a person from certain death
in groups. Simply rescue, then throw a p-dart or adhesive. The praise you get from rescuing people consistently is well worth the effort(and occasional self-sacrifice).

My camps are indispensable. A lot of times medics will need to make more stims and wound kits, or a large group needs a good rest. Pop out the ol' Field base and everyone's instantly happy. I still get awed looks whenever I put one of those up.

There you have it, every skill that I haven't forgotten, I use. I know some people don't use traps or camo because they think it's too expensive, but I like them both and think they're well worth the cost.

Heh. I get gawked at just being a novice ranger. I went out in a hunting party late last week because of my novice ranger title. I was invited because of the new tracking abilities, thank you very much. It was nice to be appreciated for picking out rare, uber creatures in the wild. The group asked me to join them any time I'm on. A master pistoleer and a combat medic from the group both said they've never seen, let alone met, a ranger in the game. They were glad they did. So far, I know of only five other rangers on the Kettemoor server. But that's only through searches. I'm sure there are more. I do enjoy being a "real" elite profession.

I walked from Kor Vella to Tyrena and then to Coronet back to Kor Vella I died to Crazed Durnis .8m from Kor Vella on the return trip 'cause of a server lag event. I made it a point to kill all Crazed Durnis for a month after that... but I'm better now... really, I am *twitch*

lol, after playing the game for a few days a friend and I decided to walk from Nashal to Dearic, when we got there we mentioned it to someone in the cantina and everyone looked at us like we had two heads. I had a similiar creature experience too, except for me it was paralopes (yes, you can get killed by paralopes, you really have to try though hehe) To answer the question though, yes absolutely, I love being a ranger and the skills it provides and it fits perfectly with how I play my character, wandering around the planets reaches and finding big nasty mobs to shoot (and run away from )

HAHAH that's funny!

Tsion, Exactly! I have yet to see a master ranger up close, but I do know they do exist, could Master Rangers be the next jedi?

RobertD, I have to agree with you.. It definatly could be physiological. It really feels like a got a huge pay cut. I was bummed still am. For the first time since I had the game, I lost a little bit of the urge to play, only a little though .

Absolutely. I always gravitate towards ranger-like professions no matter what the setting of the game is. I use weekends to stock on credits, and the rest of the week I spend exploring and hunting. I mostly solo but I join hunting groups and faction fights on occasion.

Manterion,

Thanks for the confirmation. Yeah... I can't think of any other analogy for the change in harvesting except a large pay cut. Not an easy thing to swallow for me or most people in rl, so I don't expect it to be easy in game either. Otherwise ranger really is fun... This game sure has potential to be a non-stop blast... but I think that I have yet to see it at it's peak...

I hope that you and I, and every other aspiring ranger can think about something other than the nerf or find other aspects to get excited about, I know I am still dwelling on the unit loss lossevery time I harvest. But there is still plenty of different roles to experiment with as a ranger, I just have to change my RP story away from hunter/ harvester for now until I can do it without whincing.

One other very important thing: most of the rangers I've met on my server seem to share the view that we're some sort of brotherhood, so we help each other in whatever way we can even when we're total strangers. That I can attest for the rangers before the patch, but I haven't had enough contact with the tracking hybrids to know how they feel about rangers in general.

I am haveing fun as a ranger.

I think it would be nice to be able to tell the difference between agro creature mobs and aggro human mobs.

I am greived by all the bugs and problems and lack of ranger content, but never the less, I absolutley love being a Ranger!

I love the concept of being a vagabond, a lone wolf, a nomad, a sportsman, a scout, a supplier, a survivalist.

I love the potential this profession has to be one of the best support classes in the game.

I love the good natured disposition of my fellow Rangers even though we may not always see eye to eye.

I love treking through the vast wastes of Tatooine and seeing a lone campfire in the distant, knowing that there is a person I can most likely join for a friendly chat and maybe a hunt and then part ways.

I will hold on to Master Ranger until the developers remove it from the game.

I love being a Scout.

I REALLY love being a Ranger.

This is the best **edit** profession in the whole game!

I have been a master ranger for some time now (technically not a master, I had one Frontiering to go that I procrastinated on tee-hee, but I am now) and I enjoy it for sure. I am not a beg grouper... frankly a much as this game is based on groupig (or so they say) it takes too long to get one together. There is too much waiting around for people to heal, for their friends and nobody seems to be able to lead as well as me... A bit bold and spicy, oh well.

I digress... ranger is perfect for me. I am also a master CH. So I am very self-sufficient, but if I need to group, I have something to add to that group.

The only thoughts that I have on improving it to perfection are as follows:

1. Mask scent needs to be STRONGER!!! For crying out loud, a Master Ranger should be able to walk into a Rancor lair and look round, check things out (unless of course you hit the lair or the creatures, then well, yer cover is blown there son...) Or at least make the Camo Kits worthwhile; useless now as far as I am concerned.

2. Ability to tell whether the creatures are social or not. Although I usually send my pet in, and because of time spent on most planets already, I already now whether they are or not.

Just two things. That is all. I am very happy with it thus far. If I can think of anything else, I will reply. Creature Handling, not so sure. But when mounts come out... For another forum.

Am I having fun as a Ranger? Yes.

I made master the day the patch came out and got to try out all of the new stuff. Some of it still has bugs, but they should work those out eventually. I have only seen 1 other master ranger on my server. Just as soon as I made master, I rewarded myself by building a HTFB right outside of Cornette city and threw my new tag up. About 2 dozen people wandered in andout during the next 1/2 hour and I got 2 invitations to join PA's just because of the new title. Igot a kick out of people walking through the HTFB saying "cool", "OMFG", "**edit**", "you built THIS??? WOW", "neat", "Where did this building come from?", "Insert favorite exclamation of surprise here"

As for the "pay cut" to harvests when solo is slightly dissappointing, but the ability to harvest while part of a group more than makes up for it. Sure,I may only get 20 carnivore meat offeach giant crystal snake on Yavin, but that is 20 moreper snake thanthe last time I tried to harvest in a group on Yavin, which was 0 for the whole night. (goodbyeninja harvesting)
