Thread: Proposal: The Hunting Terminal

This is a wonderful idea. It's simple enough that it should be easy to implement, it benefits a wide variety of players, it helps us become better hunters, and it is very clear and well written. Altho I don't see the reasoning behind limiting it to only scouts and rangers. Most pleople who aren't either would probably rather use the mission terminals anyway if they are just in it for the money. Explorer missions as they are currently do not offer nearly enough payout for the time put into doing one and I don't see this changing that aspect of them much. I would think it would make more sense to have it either not limited at all, or limited to rangers only. If it were limited to rangers only it would make us more desireable as hunters, either solo, or in groups. "Need a stack of whooly real quick for a special customer? get a ranger, he can do bantha missions on tat and get a nice stack for you in an hour."But I wouldn't argue that to death, the base idea is great and it should be implemented.

As for the boss creature idea, save that for /track.

Just wanted to reply to these three points to,

In opening it to scout I should have been a bit more clear. My thinking was to make it available either to Master Scouts, or scouts who finished the Hunting tree. The reason for this simply makes the options available for BEs and CHs as well. CH could greatly benefit from being able to find these lairs, and BEs could use it to track the meat and DNA they might need to get a hold of a bit easier. Though I'm not opposed to limiting it to Rangers to make them the "go to person" on these rare creatures, I did think it would be helpful to the entire Scout community also.

On the idea of /track, I think this idea is a great one. To some degree I almost feel that leaving boss creatures to this skill might make it more interesting. As Calculus has outlined it, the ability to chase big creatures and the threat of having it backfire, really goes hand in hand with inherent skill (thus /track) for the terminals my ideal goal would be allowing Rangers the ability to find those rare creature types (war, enraged, polka-dotted) that give us the high yields that the more commonly spawned versions deny us.

Like... a war gronda which gives more resources then a dwarf Gronda.

In the meantime thank you all for your positive feedback,

-WB

I like the boss and big game ideas but say you get a kayt dragon mission on tat will it be with full loot status? this will really encourge grouping in SWG <I hardly see any Groups in the ground based game that all focus on one goal!> Having the Boss <Mobs> having a full loot table will help the ingame crafters get those Rare Kryt Tissues or other items and wont make them so Rare and hopfuly lower the prices a wee bit Also why not have the sytem work asa whole Ya take out some grunts pretty much mini Boss lairers before getting to the main guy?

Dont for get ranger doesnt only hunt mindless animals They track down Humans too why else would they give us this ablity? I like the JTLS open ended missions in space i would love to see this Idea hit the ground game aswell Wouldny mind missions were i had to protect some Fair haired Maiden from a Volly of Mobs After all isnt SWG about becoming some Big hero....I hate that i MUST become a Jedi

to be all Bad A$$ Who was i ruuting for in Star wars the movie wasnt luke skywalker tell ya that much Han Solo and the Wookie oo ya

How manny times did Han save Luke's Butt? huh? wana Be jedi luke skywalker lol.

If Becoming a jedi is your thing thats coo

But some of us Want more Content for OUR classes and i think this is a good Idea

With the advent of "Duty" missions which repetitively spawn the same type of entity over and over allowing a Pilot to raise their experience over concentrated periods of time I think that this idea might be worth giving a little bump.

The goal, as it was originally concieved, was to give Rangers a steady source of both experience and resources. By guaranteeing high end Mobs a Ranger could effectively guarantee high yield harvests on a per mission basis.

With the Loss of solo-grouping this might also benefit the community by granting more "elite" missions that required a Ranger's expertise to start.

Perhaps, if this was implemented, it could tie in with a Ranger's "Creature to Hit" modifier and give the Ranger a bonus above regular mission terminals. Being able to fight a tougher creature would be a possibility, needing a strong group to get the job done would be a guarantee.

I love this idea (as outlined in the starting post). I'm all for it.
