Im working up the wording on my application as well. We have so many people in this forum who are capable doing justice to this position.

Set a positive tone, eh? Well, that effectively eliminates me. Hate to see Calc step down, but there are a number of rangers who would represent us well, and are on the correct side in the vile hotpants war. Good luck to those of you who apply, and to quote a space ranger from another sci-fi world, "You can get more with a kind word and a two-by-four than you can with just a kind word." Just something to keep in mind.

Spare time on the other hand could be another story. How much time does it take out of your day being a coresspondent?
It's not that bad.
It depends on how active you want to be.
An hour or so a day (unless you're testing) is probably adequate.

I agree about Frederick Skinner, I play on Eclipse and have had the opportunity to hang out with him from time to time. Fred would do a wonderful job as theRangerCorrespondent.

JB would be hilarious. The devs would be scared of us with him as our leader, lol.
But this is a great community -- can't go wrong.

what about that drunken Bothan. He can't lead, really...but he throws a mean mixer. on second thought, maybe we should force Fred to be the corr.

Oh come on, what could I do to the Devs? Wait, never mind, I know what I can do...shhhh... lull them to sleep.
I would apply, but alas, who would I pick on? Not that I am not sad to see Calc go, as he was a rare leader, one who took time to listen and read the tons of (sometimes retarded) ideas posted and nicely told people what the deal was.
I am still on the fence, do I stay Ranger and not go FS. Go FS, drop parts of Ranger for the skill points, then make my alt a Ranger... frankly I dunno at this point. I do know that pilot is freaking cool and I have been doing that. With enough Rangering to keep my hand in.
I have my opinions on who should be our correspondent, but they are mine. Realize, I am not applying, nor will I accept the post. Call me the Sherman of the Rangers... if nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve. Whoever gets the job gets my support, unless they support some dumbass idea like waypoints for areatrack.

not sure if you are looking for nominations or what but i would like to see fred owen vorpaks or jb altho we all know jb would grouch at the devs therefor getting us nerfed worse than we already are but i always agree/almost anyway with these four peeps.

I would have to say either Fred or Owens. But I geuss it will be up to the devs to pick the best one. Good luck to all who apply I know that they will do us proud.

Rangers that come to mind: (in no particaular order)
Nemo
Owen
Fodder
Fred
Vorpaks
There are countless others who's insights are invaluable. We have a pretty strong community here so I'm sure whoever is selected will do a fine job.

It was a hard choice whether or not I'ld go for it. I love rangers and I love the profession, but there were a lot of great people here that would do well. However I know I'ld have the time and energy to devote to corresponding and playing/testing if I did get in.
My feelings are that we will sooner or later be getting a ranger revamp and will need aa lot of testing to be done on it. I don't think I'ld be better than anyone here. Owen, Packs, Fodder, there are too many to name. All I think I can do is be here as humanly possable.
Any way I guess I'm trying to say that I threw my name in (or I will shortly). I will miss Calc as our correspondent, but he will be here for us always and this way we can have two people working on ranger (albiet one with a newborn in his arms
) Good luck on that Calc.
