It was already a huge mistake to allow players to control AT-ST's (as a even semi-right designed AT-ST is way too unbalancing, got nerfed for obvious reasons down to the current bad joke we call the "AT-ST"). I sure hope they never ever consider putting in player controlled AT-AT's, the then later "balanced" version probably would be as powerful as a Kaadu .

Well, if they introduced Hoth as a GCW battlefield, allowed "rideable" AT ATs and AT STs, speeders, artillery (even stuff that could lay down cover fire for escaping spaceships) making space a tough place to fight in, it would be absolutely awesome.

Player controlled AT-STs were definitely a mistake though. I don't know how its fun to be an Imperial when you don't have high end mobs like Nova Troopers and AT-STs. (course they might but I've always been a rebel and can only say I've no equivelant to the AT-ST at my disposal.)

Back to the original post. I would love to see some sort of Ranger ability which would allow for covert "recon" which would return information about a nearby base. If Camo ever worked against PCs we could verbally return such information for base raids which would also be cool.

You might sorta get your wish...

In the JTL guide they list "Bombardment" as a faction perk. Not sure if it will be profession specific.

Thinking the same. With better camouflage skills, a ranger could go sneak near a some base, or lair, and have some fellow JTL flyer bomb the place

Probably not going to happen but fun to think about....

Lair in middle of town -> mayor up in the air (or sherrif), ranger on ground providing coordinates to clean town of the pests... Houses will still stay but lair(s) will be gone

LOL... Artillery? Your kidding right? We can't even use a rifle to shoot at critters still inside Pistol range.

Plunk "Papa 1 this is Ranger 3, I have three dismounted Dark Jedi, five dismounted stormies and one armored ATST in the open at waypoint just sent, fire for effect over."

Papa 1 "Roger Ranger 3 standby."

Papa 1 "Ranger 3, Papa 1, shot over."

Ranger 3 "Shot out."

Papa 1 "Splash over."

Ranger 3 "Splash out."

Ranger 3 "Papa 1, Ranger 3, I have three Dark Jedi, five stormies and one armored ATST killed over."

Papa 1 "Roger, I copy three Dark Jedi, five stormies and one armored ATST killed."

Ranger 3 "That's a solid copy, Ranger 3 out."

Buy yourself a PvE rebel detachment headquarter and check out the npcs in it, we do not have any lack of high end rebel npcs ever since the GCW revamp.

I use to call the rebel PvE Detachment Headquarters "Mini-DWB on steroids" as it's a lot easier to successfully raid the DWB than to run through the shutdown process of a rebel PvE Detachment Headquarter .

I do like this idea. In my opinion we can look at Ranger in different ways. A lot fo folks see him as a hunter/gatherer. He can be very proffitable doing this. However, being a military RPer I see the Ranger as an elite Sniper. A Spec Forces operative who has the skills to get deep into enemy territory unseen.

From a military standpoint it makes sense that in large battles a Ranger would fill the Arty Forward Observer role.
