23 days is a long time. That's enough time for a hamster to meet a mate, get pregnant, have babies and start looking for another mate..

So you are saying that we will at least have better server stability, as SoE will have a higher hamster population to run in the wheels in 23 days time?

Well tested carbineer this morning, and it was not much better. I Will try a carbineer / rifleman combo next, just to check what the increased defence and offences does.

I was on TC yesterday an decided to take a walk on Tatooine. I stumbled over some lvl 17 Banthas. So, I used maskscent, covered up and used concealshot. Instant aggro. And it took me several minutes to take it down. I think the Devs adjusted the balacing-screw - but to far, like always

Oh, and later I found some Squills - lvl 20 or 22 I think - they tripple incapped me and ended that tour.

What I find most disturbing is that you can't see that you are attacked by something before you take damage.

Think critter agro is generally broken atm (Or rather I really hope so!). You get the same thing even when using /cover from rifleman, one shot and instant pack agro. Hopefully fixed before live.

I also thought I read that critters would have different run speeds, if this is the case then all of their speeds seem to be higher than mine! Ah well, it's all bugged so see how it ends up.

Just wait till the CU is further along and more patched, pehaps the CU will turn out good in the end.

waiting...

I theory I'm levelling up my Live toons. Trying to make sure that at least a couple of them will still be viable postCU. But I seem to be off doing other stuff more and more...

I'm waiting for the Root trap......And PvP and damage traps, Sad that CM's are more effective at "debuffing" and killing creatures then we are, not to mention the PvP aspect.

Indeed, you'd think that since we seem to be pigeon-holed as creature-centric that in PvP we'd be the perfect answer to acreature handler. However, we can't trap player pets.

I just tried a quick trip to Lok to try out my ranger/rifleman combo and I have to agree that it was a pretty discouraging experience.

I'm a wookiee wearing battle armor using a T21and had a frog buff on, tried maskscent and cover but the improved conceal shot kept messaging -WRONG STATE- (I was prone and under cover) and when I'd headshot the welp, he'd make a bee line towards me (knee capping him didn't seem to help much). I admit I have very little experience with the new combat system but I don't think I got him knocked down his health more then 20% in 3 tries. Anyone care to tell me what I was doing wrong?

oops.. just noticed the thread about not using /cover. Guess it's a work in progress (on the good side, it didn't crash my client

/cover should be working now. But you have to be in a covered state and prone to use /concealshot now (that's what the -WRONG STATE- error means).

Well, people keep saying that the only balanced planets are Tatooine and Naboo, and possibly Corellia. They are also saying only up to level 54 is "balanced" which is very frustrating since we can be Rangers and have good fighting capabilities and not be over 54. If you go much over a creatures level you don't get anything except 1 pt of XP.

I have tried to see if these are the only 3 planets that are balanced for sure, and if only up to level 54 on these planets is balanced. I have found info about these three planets and definitely balance up to 54, but I have not been able to locate anything else since these posts on the TC forums. So my assumption at this time is the only "accurate" testing of any combination is to stay on these three planets and to test up to level 54 for how the CU is really working. Other scenarios are not going to be real valid until they are brought up to speed, unless they are already and I have just not been able to find info to that fact.

So it is a bit frustrating at this point to make sure your experience is valid.

Well, I thought I was prone and in a covered state and was still getting the -WRONG STATE- error which isn't a very helpful message. The computer knows what state I'm missing. Just tell me, don't make me guess it (one of my pet peeves about the old system too. Kinda like the old UNIX error that only said, "can't"). I was also bothered that I couldn't seem to find cover unless I was more then 65m from any any living creature. On a crowded planet like Lok can be, finding cover could be tricky especially if I'm dead meat if a creature spots me and starts chasing me. I'd hate to have the only viable solo hunting method be the old "get in a couple shots then run like the wind a couple of miles while firing over your shoulder" technique.

Well, this was just the first time I tried hunting with the new system and the planet may not have been tuned yet and I may have to learn some new techniques (I'm looking forward to that, actually). It was just kind of a shock going from being able to harvest 10k units of resources in an hour (which is probably an excess the CU is meant to address) to feeling like I was a naked noob on my first hunting missions. Then again, when I was a naked noob, I had a lot of room to grow and improve. Here, I thought I was pretty well decked out at my peak potential (master riflewookiee/master ranger buffed and in advanced battle armor). Then again, I'm not at all up on the new leveling system. I guess I should go find some mountain squill for a more accurate test. Wish me luck.

Actually, one of my deep fears is that we are being forced to always group hunt. Don't get me wrong. I like group hunts and a good group can be more productive then solo hunting, especiallywith the recent ranger changes (which I loved)and a heck of a lot more fun but I keep odd hours and usually can only get in a couple of hours at a time so finding a group isn't always an option and sometimes even with good folk, itsometimes takes30 minutes or more to get a group going (and to be honest, some morning's I'm just not feeling that social before coffee).

Feel free to add soothing comments here to calm my fears

I created a character with the Master Ranger/Master Rifleman template (CL 80). Then I went out on Naboo to test it out.
About 1k out of town I come across a Faamba (CL 34). So I attack it with my T21 using head shots, and a few knee shots to keep it snared, while running away from it. And I cant even get it half way down in it health before it start retreating and runs away faster then I can keep up.
Same result with every other rifle I am certified fore.

I will have to test carbineer, and if that falls throe as well guess I will have to drop master ranger, something I really did not wish to do.

As I understand it, there's some bug right now where creatures are regenning far faster than they should, OR that their health bars show far more regen, something like that. Either way, it's a substantial bug and I'm not sure how we're supposed to test combat with it around. And if it's not a bug, we've gone from being overpowered to being powerless.

I also tried Rifleman, and same thing. One shot, everything ran at me and agro'd.

I tried carbineer, and it seemed a little better, simply because it's more built for up-front.

I am, however, wondering where the "range" in "ranged combat" comes in when everything smacks on me.

All in all, at this point, I'm finding the CU is making the game very uninteresting.

I did a little testing with cover and it seems to only work when you're perfectly horizontal to the surface of the planet. If you're at an angle because of a hill I don't think it'd work. You'll know when you're covered because your own dot will dissappear off the radar, and your avatar will fade. Otherwise it didn't stick.

Not that it really mattered because as soon as I fired off a conceal shot the creature still made a beeline to me and I was shooting over my shoulder. Made me miss being a carbineer and having crippling shotwhich isa fairly effective snare that will really slow a target down. Of course I didn't try throwing a trap either.
