Despite being on DSL I just copied the .TRE files from TC over to live and hit 'Full Scan' (It's the same trick as getting TC up and running fast - was posted here a few weeks back - but in reverse). It patched the .EXE and a few .DLLs and it seems to think I'm up to date.
Of course it may break when I run it tomorrow, but I'll face that when I get there. Might be an idea if you've played the CU on one of the test centre machines.
Good tip, yup. But most people on dial up have been forced off TC becuase of the sheer size of the individual .tre files.
Patch_15.tre_delta is / was around 48 to 53Mb and can't be downloaded in one 2hr dial up session. Hopefully the patcher for Live will allow downloads to recommence.
I could use a pay-as-you-go ISP that doens't boot me every 2hrs, but at the rate the files download at, it'd cost me more than a months subs just to get that ONE file.
Oh, and am currently sat on 43hrs remaining. GOOD news is that that's a drop of 13hrs in the past hour and a half.... yeah.... excited am not.
I am on AOL, so it will stay on all night. But yeah- I am watching this 15 TRE go about as slowly as anything I've seen in motion before.
The good news- my post count is getting a significant boost with all this extra time on my hands.

8 hours here...on a cable modem.
*eep*
purhaps I should move the .tre files over...but then again I'm about as sharp as a marble when it comes to stuff like that...so....maybe I'll just smack myselfwith a hammer instead. I bet it'll be more usefull.

I've been on TC fairly avidly (right up to 5hrs ago or so) so I was patched up with the most recent stuff....
...and following a tip given in the CU discussion forum, I was able to turn this:
Estimated Time: 14:52:56
....into this:
Estimated Time: 00:02:20
via copying a few files from my TC folder....I'll update with a link for any intersted....just keep in mind, it's an "at your own risk" venture, so make backups.
