You're complaining about making 35cpu??? Wow, if you're a servant I'm the lowest slave. Besides, Chefs can only sell things for what people are willing to pay. And if players are that stupid or desperate to pay 250k for a crate of glucose, I say more power to the Chefs. They will have their moment of bandwagon glory(notice how many Chefs have appeared in the last week?) but will eventually die back down.

Besides Rangers are never concerned about being rich.

...Well at least not until the SWG Ranger came along...<g>

I think you're overreacting. It seems like you think that you give them a quantity of meat/hide/bone and they wave their magic wand and *poof* they have a full set of composite armor/fishak surprise/stim ds. As far as I have seen creature resources account for a very small percentage of required ingredients for non-scout craftables.

For example:

A Doctor makes a class D heal enhance pack for each attribute he can buff using advanced components. This requires a little over 400 scoutable resources (according to my calculations). Now, if he buffs for 9k that means he makes about 22 credits per resource unit you gave him. However, your resources do not account for 100% of the resouces needed to make the kits. They only account for 28%! That means the actual money he made off of you was 6 cpu!

That is probably applicable for most other things in the game as well, I simply lack the time to go through each time in the above fasion.

The offers of 50cpu for over 25k units of Avian meat and the such are enticing. But then I realize that's the only thing I'd be doing for hours on end. Killing the same thing over again and harvesting it. Boring. I'm not really in Ranger to be a resource merchant. I like Ranger a lot. I harvest, yes, but mostly for my own purposes. If I came into a situation where I had a hunk of resources that someone was willing to buy I'd probably take them up for it. It's windfall to me. If you think about it, Rangers have a better ability of getting resources (for free) than Artisans. They have to have a specific item for each type of resource. They have to survey for a concentration of that resource (using mind). Then sample for it (using mind and action) and even then at max maybe get a 10-20 unit sample, then wait half a minute until they can sample again. We require no special tools. Can harvest over 500 units of up to three types of resources (My personal best is 477 of meat off a giant kimo at 4/0/4/0 scout, so the actual max is probably a lot higher). We have no HAM cost or time delay. That means we can get more and do it faster. If you are a Ranger and in this to do business you can make a killing. I don't see where there is any room to complain.

i agree, which is why i have come up with a pricing program, http://www.dimension9.com/install.exe

ranger calc prices the goods fairly, and I will ahve an update sometime soon...

however, i made most of my money from selling my holocrons from christmas, i have over 1mil in the bank, and hunt on dant...i make enough to pay for a large house, and city fees,a nd for good armor and sliced weapons. Im fine

I'm not dissing you, but you should know that it's "<a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=band">band</a> together", not "<a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=ban">ban</a> together".

I'm not dissing you, but you should know that it's "band together", not "ban together". Just in case that's not just a simple typo.

collecting wooly hide till you could puke to sell for 25 cpu and then that armorsmith turns around and makes 10 sets of composite armor for 500,000 A SET? And they won't even cut you a deal on it! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!

You should roll a char on eclipse .

We currently experience a massive outbidding-war on huntable ressources, ending in 160 cpu for in-shift corellian wooly hide and 135 (so far, this hasn't been in shift for long so we have to see how high they yet go) cpu for in-shift dathomirian avian meat.

No I do not feel poor tbh, I honestly say that from all the people I started with at the same time (started january, other players in my guild starting at the same time in crafting professions are still 'poor' in my eyes, I now own a very shiny high-class set of layered comp, unlayered comp and ubese (wearing none of them in usual situations, heh), a nice set of weapons (three or four nice - non-krayt ofc - t21, three laserrifles, a - unneeded for me as I do not PvP - quite nice Jawa Ion Rifle, a house, 3 vehicles, a mount and a bankaccount which gives me the feeling of relative financial 'safety' ). And this with supplying my PA at low rates first and only selling the 'leftovers' to the open market.

Yes Fred, I know you call us ppl taking the insane contracts offered 'shameless', not everyone is fighting windmills like you are .

Keep this in mind.

22 units of avian meat per enhance pack.

6 enhance packs

132 units of avian meat total

100 times 132 = 13200 for meat alone in enhance packs

Given about 5 or 6 tries to get a fully experimented pack, that comes out to 79200 credits for 6 enhance packs. Divide 79200 by 20 uses equals 3960 for the MEAT ALONE to make a full set of buffs. In addition to the meat, we also need herbavore meat (54 units per pack, 300units total 100cpu = 30000/20 uses= 1500 credits per set of buffs).

Comes out to rougly 5500 credits per set of buffs, for the meat alone. This is why we cannot afford to pay 100 credits per unit for meat.

I think it's your server or clients. On Radiant I hunt for probably themost well known armorsmith and starting to hunt for themost well known med supplier. These are the guys who make up to 6 million on a slow day in sales, and they pay good for what they need. Find these types, see if they need a hunter, then show them what you can do. I guarantee they probably already have a ranger crew though, haven't met a bigtime smith or med supplier yet who doesn't.

You can add in DR now for Chefs, because as of the revamp we need that too.

Some time back we had some awesome avian meat on the Gorath server. Docs were paying up to 100CPU for it. I spent a week harvesting 45K units of it. So you know what I did, I gave it away to the Docs in my city.

I have 2 homes, lots of weapons, and 1 million credits (which I'll never spend). I don't think I've ever charged more than 20CPU for any one resource. I do it because I love the hunt, not the bank account. Just today I sold 2K milk for 4K credits.

Like another Ranger said, I rarely buy stuff. I trade for it. I just picked up a crate of Vasarian Brandy (I'm a Master Rifleman too) in trade for 7K milk. The brandy is going for 100K+ a crate. Sure I could have probably got more than 100K credits for it, but he needed the milk and I needed the brandy.

We're not busting on you man. Everyone playstheir professionfor adifferent reason.I play it because I'm aRanger at heart.

I agree totally Gixer. It doesn't get any closer to a "Ranger state of mind" than that. Charity over greed. Trade over purchase. We should all love the hunt more than the bank account. It's all about being a Ranger. For all the people out there who are in it to make money, or have no clue what a Ranger is, go back and re-read Robin Hood. There's debate over whether he's a Ranger or not, but it's agreed that he is one of the most famous Rangers from lore. Living off the land and the forest, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, and robbing young maidens of their hearts and virtue. That's a Ranger. A woodsman whose last concern in the world is money.

On Tempest server Avian meat went for OVER 200cpu (OQ and PE both over 900)
