Thread: Rangers! Your thoughts on jedi...
For sure Jedi that were Ranger for long time live the wild and the hidding in a better way than other guys.
Proud of this.
What am I missing? Tells like this :"Hey, are you Ranger? Can you track a krayt dragon in Bestine for me?"

wow, i didn't know the entire ranger community wants to be jedi.
This is a relatively new feelinon the Ranger board (maybe no one was talking about it before or maybe people decided to pick up Jedi while they wait for our fixes/revamp). I don't think it's so bad...it's just not my cup of tea.
I'mmuchmore interested in having a second character slot than having a Jedi.

Some are thick as two short planks.
Some seriously need nerfing back to the womb.
Some deserve a BH term right where it smarts.
OTOH,
Some are pretty cool folk and go out of their way to be decent, 'law abiding' citizens
Some actually do have smarts
Some I'd help out in a fight, others I'd shoot in the doorlocks as soon as look at them..
ah, you meant...

I tested jedi during their revamp publish and it was, kind of, fun. In a very mindless 'bash them with the glowing stick till they squeak' sort of way. I figured I'd get bored faast with that and decided 'nah, not for me'.
Then a few 'uber-ish' folk I knew turned jedi and in some cases seemed to lose about 50% of their braincells and personality. Not having much of either to spare I thought 'nah, not for me'.
Then the village and the grind of all grinds arrived, and I'm basically bone idle, so that was defintely not for me.
And XP loss on death? Hecks, during the tests my toon managed to hit the -ve cap he died that often, that badly and that easily. Nah, not for me.
I'm just stacking these FS boxes up to keep them tidy. I mean, I've got the spare XP, its not as tho its going to anything else and it'd be a pity to lose it.... So it's less 'nah, not for me' as much as 'oh well, it's there, why not...'. Tho I'd rather just have a second toon that I can use as an ickle crafter/healer/fun-fun guy...
Jedi? Scum of the game ![]()
Seriously though i hate the concept of jedi in this game and think they are the number one negative point to playing this game. Until they are brought in line with everyone else the system will always be unbalanced and end game encounters (designed to be challanging to everyone meaning impossible to normals, challanging to jedi) will never be fun with a non-jedi group.
My guild (speaking vent) knows how i feel about jedi, hear about it on a regular basis and know of my distinct hatred for that profession in this game so ill save you the angry rants ![]()
Basically no jedi in swg = heaven.
I just like being a ranger way too much!
wow, me and Calc Agree!!! /faint
and i'm glad our Corr sees the light also. Jedi in this game, I hate.

gonna get paddy for a while, and an alt. The alt will be a merchant/ doctor...
I really miss my ranger consortium, and i want to set that up again.
(edited) because i forgot to say that as soon as i get the alt, and swing the ls for a few days, im dropping all of it, and going back to M RangerMessage Edited by AgonThalia on 06-07-2005 08:41 AM
Make sure you check that this is possible first. I heard that if you drop Padawan you loose the unlocked character slot. Pure unadulterated rumor, but enough to make you pause.
And Ranger... jedi... I will always be Paks.

I'm building my Jedi story on my existing backstory.
Untrained Jedi usually show their abilities through an amazing aptitude for a certain kind of skill. For Anakin it was Pod-racing/Flying/etc. For Paks (Pakryshyyyk) it was the ability to move about in the dangerous lower regions of Kashyyyk with much less trouble than others of her species. She was able to sense danger from approaching wildlife or even divert their attention from herself. Amazing reflexes, ability to judge distances, and awareness of everything around her allowed her to easily extract herself from or avoid dangerous situations.
Among her family this was accepted as extraordinary knowledge of survival skills and camouflage, and not seen as any kind of force power. All Wookiees who venture into the lower regions must be skilled at survival, combat, and camo. Some are just better than others. Paks was most often assigned the scouting position of hunting groups and eventually was given the title of "Ranger" as recognition of her superior skills.

flimmin stupid Lithium.
I'll try that again, shall I.
"Nice backstory, Paks"
One of my reservations about the current jedi set up is that its the character you've been playing to unlock that gets to be the jedi and not some anonymous alter-ego.
From a strictly RP PoV that always made FAR more sense. Player becomes FS, gets to unlock their jedi and, as you CAN only have one toon on an account logged at a time, the alt becomes the jedi and begins on the path to knightly godliness in anonymity.
Not "Hey, didn't I see you up at the village doing the pirates? Dude, you've got a lightsaber! You unlocked!!!... Ah, but because you needed to be way more than just a little combat savvy you're CL80 eh? And now youve got to go wave your torch at what? Rancor? Graul? Boy, you are going to get SO eaten..."
Meanwhile, your anonymous alter ego starts into life with nada skills and is basicaly just another pleb.
Way back in the hologrind days I knew a few of my guild were working towards getting their jedi and, by and large, the first we'd know that they'd unlocked was when they started logging in a bit less often and some stranger started hanging about their house.... all very mysterious and stuff. But hey, challenging and fun, easy to learn, hard to master. bleh.
