How many corrs promising to push the Outdoorsman Proposal would it take to get Calc in a pair of hawtpants? (we'd post pics for y'all too...)

I want to wish you good luckwith the summit, I know you'll do a great job pushing the Outdoorsman in general and all the good combat (PvP and PvE) ideas for Rangers in this forum!

On a side note, and excuse me if this is not the right thread, what would be really interesting to know is if the devs have any plans of making a really comprehensive statistical analysis of the player base through a poll e-mailed to all players or something?

Why? because I would think that the people active in the forums are a "minority" and not necessarily representative of the general population playing the game. And with all the stuff going on in other forums atm wouldn't it be nice for them (and us) to actually know what the majority of players are thinking/feeling about the game? After all the financial viability of SWG and our chance to paly this game for a long time depends on them and their willingness to cough up the bucks over time.

And what I've seen so far is just polls halfway hidden in the forums, and theydon't seem to be formulated to get a real feeling for what people want from the game, more of the "this is what we're going to do, but you may be allowed to state your opinion on some minor details concerning it" type.

Am I all wrong in assuming that proper analysis of what is actually important for the major population is important to them? Like how many are PvP/PvE/RPG/All, how many want visible Jedi/low-visibility Jedi/no Jedi, how many people have what profession (primary character, not alt out of necessity), what change in the game would make you leave, what change would make you not leave/stay longer?

I may be ranting about things that are covered bases, stuff that is ultimately unimportant in the success of an MMO/MMORPG, and it may be just me feeling that lots of the decisions made are based on eitherwhat they themselves feel is wanted/neededor an imagined(?) majority preassure from a vocal minority.Maybe they are already doing this to a properly selected demographic group?

And this should ofcourse be in addition to, not in place of,the processes in place, like forum threads, correspondants etc...

Anybody withsimilar feelings/thoughts out there? or any view on the subject?

Cheers,
Jasse

I live right outside of Austin. Make sure that you hit 6th St. if ya get the chance.

This sounds like a prime time to maybe make a difference with the profession. Good luck.

This is a monumental event in the history of video games. Players being this big a part of the upcoming development process is a great way that SOE is making up for initial problems and wanning interest. While this doesn't right every wrong, it goes a long way into showing that they are moving in the right directin and that it is the players, and not the corporate bigwigs that are going to come up with the ideas. True, this may not make a drastic shift in the gameplay, but it will be a cool event.

I think this helps Rangers more than a lot of other proffesssions, since not only do we have one of the most respected correspondants, but were' also a very tight-knit community. I feel sorry for the BH/Jedi correspondants right now, who, as soon as word leaks of this, will have mailboxes overflowing with ideas/complaints and overall horrible manners. I hope we can avoid that. Also, I think a lot of outsiders see that Rangers need work and I bet there aren't many correspondants who feel that the outdoorsman stepson their toes. So I think at the very least, the Outdoordsmand can be pushed heavily. The stealth proposal, should, in my opinion, also be brought and asked about. This may be less likely to go into play, but it would be good to bring.

In the end, Calc, this is huge. I would love to take part in something like this. But if there's anyone else I'd trust to do a great job, it's you. BTW, if they provide hooch, it doesn't mean you have to drink it. Just take the bottle. I'll buy it off ya. Developer hooch. man I wouldn't even drink it. I'd keep in it a trophy case.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Actually this is nearly the same thing that happened in EQ recently when the expansion "Omens of War" was announced while they were still putting off work on long needed class fixes and bugged content from previous expansion packs, the resulting chaos and calls for a boycott were rampant in the community. It was called "guild leaders summit" for that event.

Lots of good ideas were talked about, the SOE staff seemed sincere in their need to improve the game (and future releases), but so far there hasnt been much movement in any solid or definitive way.

Lets hope that more immediate and positive results will come from this one.

Oh...you're bringing the Outdoorsman!???

Uggh

It really needs to be rewritten.

Just make sure you bring up that it would be nice to get bonuses against creatures the same as other combat classes get when they fight PV NPC.

Like damage mitigations 1,2 and 3

Creature to hit bonuses WORTH using, that would be BETTER than a Master Riflemans.

Chance to critical strike, 1 shot to the heart.

Talk about how much bleeds SUCK! And they need to bleed a creature to death like the old days.

We could have creature bleeds, a heart shot per se, that would RAPIDLY make the creature bleed out, and the creature would run scared as this was occuring forcing us to chase it down and use our frickin terrrain negotiation. (so, basically a 1 shot 1 kill with the associated bleed) This type of devastating shot could ONLY be successful at Master or close to it. It would need to be the 1st shot, while you were non aggroed. (similar to take cover)

Traps on CH pets during pvp

and more traps in ranger tree, aoe stuff, stuff that has alreay been disussed, area root, etc.

Have traps that can do EVERY current state, including bleeds.

Traps that make a creature react as if it were hit with warning shot, or threaten shot (run away, hesitant to attack)

C"MON RANGERS!

Great news Calc, but I don't remember seeing anything about having a face to face meeting? It's nice to hear they are actually taking some initiative based on the revolt of the combat delay..sure hope they through us a bone before the time it takes to implement what all of you corrospondents will be discussing though.

A great step in the right direction in my opinion ..but this is going off the record of......
