The Ranger community is pretty tightly knit. Flaming and naming people out as trolls wont get you many good replies.
FYI: Tracking is buggy and unreliable. Frustrating to find anything that hasnt spawned yet. Many many times I have tracked for guild purposes and was the last to find what we sought after. So, you can imagine that being asked to use a part ofour buggy profession for pay that we know can be unreliable and boring due to the way spawns happen can be aggravating.
I never log into the game without a plan of what I want to do. I just dont hang out and hope for people to ask me to track someone/something for a small amount of pay. I have been offered to track from time to time and I refuse. Not because I am unfriendly or unhelpful. I just know that my percentage of finding it is the same as you. Just have to get close enough to spawn it.
Good Luck to you in your quests but "assuming" that we are all trolls here wont get you anything but ignored or flames.

And not all rangers are sick of tracking for other players. I accept offers to track for money on my server. If the trade forums give you no help, then do an in-game search for Rangers on tatooine and *kindly* ask for their assistance. And in the future, if you meet opposition in a post, I suggest that rather than flame back, you ignore or explain your positon.

There was no need for this thread to go in this direction. This threadshould be in the trade forum, as you know people respond there are looking to track for money.
I don't think people here are really complaining about the fact of someone asking for a tracker - I for one am all for having uses for rangers, but I think it's more asking that this sort of request be appled in the trade forum. I think all of know that this is for the trade forum, not here - I also think that's what's causing the majority of the issues.

news flash, dont like contract, dont take job - move along and go troll somewhere else, gees...
I am a Master Doc and Armorsmith so I know what its like.
Just need a profesion's help, understand?
I cant get buffed by a Medic, nor can a TKA heal my wounds.
Likewise i need a Ranger to find my guy. I never asked for a L337 M@s73r ranger.
I looked through the ranger forum and all i see are posts like "Im new to the prof, whats a good way to make money" etc.

I understand your frustration in trying to find certain spawns and stuff. I know this is very difficult in some of the badge quests on Tatooine, and with the Jedi Knight trials.
I would like to stress that I feel I speak for many in that having people coming here wanting hunters (either for hide/bone/meat, or for tracking) is something many of us dislike seeing. It's very similar to going into an armorsmith forum, and asking for an armorsmith to make some sort of armor on some sort of server. It kinda doesn't fit, if you know what I mean.
There is a much better option, that you may find useful. Under the main category list, there is a list of trade forums. Although potentially not as many rangers read that set of forums, many people do. If you post your request, the details, and other information for people to hunt - you may get a response much quicker there. It's also 'on-topic' if you understand what I mean.
I hope this helps. Hopefully you understand some of the reasons for this type of response. I wish you luck in your hunt for whatever you're hunting for.

I for one like tracking for hire, tho it has its tedious moments. I've gotten to know a nice Dark Jedi that way
. Last night found the boar spawn for the Hermit's Quest for myself. When he spawned after I killed him, I posted on the 'planet' and 'auction' channels, and within 10 min had earned 150K from another looking for it as well. Not bad, considering I wasn't planning tomake money tracking the Boar!
I'm on Chimera, email me, Soldado

This type of request would be better answered on the Trade or Galaxy forum of your server. Bringing this here is like going to the Armoursmith forum and asking who makes wookiee armour and where you can go to buy it.
Keep in mind as well, that there are a lot of people asking rangers to track hard to find spawns. These people do not realize how limited areatrack is. I hope you do, because 100k certainly would not get me out searching.
Good luck in your quest.

Services fall under exactly the same category. If we allowed harvesting and tracking requests to be made on this forum, they would fill up the board in less than a day.How would the Doctor forums look of everyone who wanted a buff posted there? What does it matter to you? Is it your forum server? Are you a moderator?A contract is different to a buff, just in case you have been in the wilderness of Dathomir too long.Move along, go troll somewhere else. SWG doesnt suck, its some of the people playing it...
Sorry for teasing you earlier, but hey, even you saw the 'funny' side of the mickey taking.
As for Your response to this players reply. You are on a profession board, where we discuss the profession. You want a contract, that's trade. Telling you that is not trolling. Going on the offensive with 'is it your server, are you a mod?' responses
Consider this, most players working up the profession need XP. Credits are nice, but they don't fill the boxes. We recieve no XP for tracking. You are asking a player to take a couple of hours away from harvesting and running missions. True, you're offering a good purse, but it still isn't giving an XP gain.
Another small thing to remember is that just because players (not all on your server) have declined your offer, it shouldn't be taken personally. Don't be offended or upset that rangers don't want to track npcs or creatures for the jedi quest, you made an offer, they demurred.
Personally I do track for jedi. But it will depend on what I'm doing at the time the request comes in, on their attitude, how I'm feeling. ROFL, I walked away from a 5mil track contract this week, despite only having enough credits left in my account to cover the cost of a couple of sets of buffs. Right now am more concerned with getting some xp than chasing a big prize pot. My decision based on my circumstances though I can understand the frustration of not being able to find somebody to take the contract.
Best of luck to you, and Travel Well.

You're sick of being asked to track as a Ranger?
ROTFLMAO
sorry,
but thats like a Doc being sick of being asked to buff
Many are. They craft instead for the one that do and go out and do fun stuff... funny, just like us
an AS being sick of custom orders
You should try Eclipse. Everyone here buys the composite-in-the-backpack thing. Never been able to pin down an AS... EVER
a DE tired of completing sales
The ones on Eclipse do rather well. Doctors mostly, others for the MSE and the 10 extra items to carry. Not to mention the harvesting droid, but it has to be really, really good at it. The exploder droids are always fun
I make more money in an hour of work harvesting then I bet you could keep up with. Mission money is but a way to pay for the ticket. My harvest pays for my city. Want to get my attention? 3.75 mil gurenteed for my time on Dant last week
Why
MONEY!

Have you ever checked the doctor forums? Most doctors play with their master doctor tags off for that very reason.

1. Can do 4 missions on dant in 25 minutes for 120k
2. Can harvest minimum of 250k worth of resources in an hour.
3. Being the ranger profession boards, people are here to learn how to be better rangers, mostly. Name calling, accusations, and telling and questioning rangers about there jobs and how to do them will never get you what you want.
4. Tracking rarely takes an hour, especially for rare mobs.
5. When you buff as a doctor, would 1k be worth your time in Mos Eisley per buff, when you know you can make 10-15k per,in Coronet? If I came to the doctor forums and you pointed this out, would you be trolling? If I came to the doctor forums, and said, Looking for a doctor to follow me around, buff me, keep me alive, for anywhere from 1-3 hours, oh and you get nothing if i ever die, for 100k....would this be worth your time? Would you "troll" me as you have called people on these boards? Would the doctors or you tell me to go ask my (albiet ludicrous request) on my server trade forum? Would they be then trolling? Do you even know what "trolling" means?
6. Lastly, with your apperant quickness to anger, attitude, and reactions, you could be offering 5 million credits to find a nuna, and I would turn you down.
If the contract pays 100k / hour, plus a 250k finding reward....we might have something to discuss. (if we were on same server) But a ranger that is on the same server, is still taking these same questions into account.
These are proposals and considerations to you, to better your search in finding a tracker (hopefully with a smile next time, it'll take you farther than accusations and belittlement). Good luck in your endeavors.
PS. This you can call trolling

I'm sorry for flying off the handle guys, I didn't mean to reflect badly on our profession, and I apologise to the poster for enflaming the situation.
I am concerned with the growing number of service request posts popping up on this board and I snapped on this particular theead. Really sorry for my attitude there, there was no need.

You didn't. You were actually quite civil. Now you can say I flew off the handle. That's ok, I did, but not sorry. He was abrupt, rude, used 'puter speak he has no idea the meaning of, and sat there asking rangers to help him then flamed 'em.
