I have a wuestion for you Beri. Are excited for JTL? Are you just dieing to get behind the wheel of an iconic Star Wars ship? Or are you not going to buy JTL? I have a theory I need to check on....
I can't wait for JTL! I haven't played a decent flightsick space shooter in forever(x-wing series!!!!!). I've been keeping myself sane with decent3 and freespace2. Freelancer would have rocked with a flightstick. Couldn't help but reply I love the nearly extinct space shooter game(but flightsicks, no damn MOUSE!)

JTL is mouse flight only
Then why do those that were at the press event where JTL was presented and 'playable' for the attendees refer to 'flightsticks' used
It has been stated numerous times, it's playable both with stick and mouse.
Let me explane some of my feelings on this. I am a veteran on many Mechwarrior games. Long into the developement of those games some of us had a dream. It came from those of us the converted from the MUSH to the arcade. There was RPG style,RTS style, FPS style and eventually, Leagues. The use of the CS "clans" actually came from Mechwarrior and the first networking of the game (PTP in those days). We thought of a game that would seemlessly allow you to go from role playing a character to climbing in a Battlemech and fight a battle, dust off in a drop ship and jump to another planet onto another adventure. Many different incarnations of Battletech and Mechwarrior sometimes sparked attempts at online gamming but they never quite made the mark. There is a rich history in the game too to draw RP from, some of the very same authers that wrote the Star Wars books wrote the Battletech novels as well (the good ones at least). Even when Micro$pend started making the game, the arcade part got top billing, as fun as that is, but the RP parts were hollow and no thought as to making an MMO was given. No grand battles, just 8 of your friends and 8 of them.
Now I see a similar thing finally start to come together here that we dreamed of long ago for BT. The merging of this RPG half with the "TIE vs XW" would be something the gaming industry has never seen before. It may make a model for a game that I dreamed of for Battletech. If it succeeds, perhaps, they may even consider such a thing for BT. I might be a bit biased here, but I want to see those ships first. It would be great, also to have friends allong manning the turrets
. I also used to play Airwarrior: an MMO that simulated WWII arial combat, right down to all the machine gunner locations on a B-17. We called a fully manned B-17 a Deathstar because you could defend yourself against fighters quite well.
Call me crazy but I want to get a YT-1300 and bring friends to man the guns
. I want that yesterday.
[EDIT: YT-1300, not 1200... I just failed my geek badge

Was that time before Quakeworld struck the world

JTL is mouse flight only
Everything I have seen has said it will be joystick or mouse controllable...

Hmm...maybe I should take the 5th on that...hehe
In any case I will waffle: both. One hand, the X-wing & tie fighter games were my all time favorite simulation games, on the other hand I am pretty sure that I won't be able to play JTL because of the lag (350 on Ahazi, 200 on European servers). If it is technically feasible, and it gets good reviews, there is a strong chance that I will buy it.
How about you?
Fisrt off, I ask far too many wuestions...![]()
The reason I asked, Beri, was not to discredit you...I realize it may have looked that way, and I apologize. My point was that the people who are most unhappy about the CB delay are those that do not have any interest in JTL. Perhaps there are more people that want JTL after the CB that I thought. ![]()
AndI will be the first in line at the store, to buy theJTL (maybe the only one
).

MW3 was the best. 4 would have been better if not for destroying the "little mech supremacy" and taking most of the superiority thru maneuvering out of it. I loved the cash/parts system in the original MW. What a great flightstick sereis
Yes it was. Mechwarrior 2 and Mechnet. Actually, they are somewhat contemporary as Grand Councel players often crossed over to Quakeworld, the game drew many FPS folks. This may have inspired the use there.

Was that time before Quakeworld struck the world? As I noticed 'clans' in online gaming the first time there
.

Now Calc ask how many of us are getting JTL to avoid the starport timers? Thats my number 1 reason
I am not totally convinced that flying yourself will be much quicker than shuttling...but, then, who knows?
Back when the combat balance delay was announced the first time (and multiple times since), I have pointed out that the team simply does not have enough resources invested in this project. I could see it and they should have as well. If those resources had been invested, how many people that left out of disgust would still be here?
I will also fully admit I have no plans to buy JTL for a few reasons:
1) My main desire and focus in SWG is to be a Creature Handler. We were rebalanced with the promise that everyone else would follow within three months. I have been playing a separate game from my friends for seven months. It will be at least a year when the changes go through and I am inclined to believe it will be a lot longer than that. They took a working class and broke us. (The revamp we received at the same time would have been sufficient, the nerf is what did us in.)
2) Considering they have neglected so much of the ground game, I have no faith that JTL will improve the situation.
3) Once JTL is out, they will focus on space and ignore the ground game. Had they actually been addressing the ground game's problems all this time I would be happy for them to switch focus for a while.
4) I would have considering buying JTL, but the decisions of this team force me to take a stand.
For those of you that love space and think this move is awesome, I want you to consider the impact on the ground game. Shipwrights will depend upon those of us that prefer to stay there. If we leave, their support mechanisms are gone. If they leave due to frustration or cannot get the resources they need, you will all be flying newbie ships with newbie components.
