Thread: Antarian Rangers: My humble thoughts......
I should have mentioned it in my first message, but when we met for the first conference, we had decided to include both factions. Basically, the rules were that we would not engage another AR member in battle unless it was a friendly duel/contest, in the battlefields, or when doing large scale raids. Even so, the consensus was that we avoid targeting another associate at all costs as there would be plenty of other targets. Any member violating this rule will obviously be reprimanded and/or booted.
We will have the ground-breaking ceremony of the Ahazi PA Hall on Saturday night (everyone is invited, details to be announced). At that meeting, I will unveil how we will be able to identify each other as legitimate AR members, even if you are not carrying the tag.
Is there anything I've missed?
Wow, <AR>'s first argument ![]()
I understand everyone's viewpoint on this (and I especialy like the vision of two Ranger's, the only ones left standing on the battlefield, each from the opposing faction, as theyshake hands and call it a day). I know there are different styles of play, but if your style conflicts with the Antarian code, well... I'm sorry. Where were you when this idea was in it's infancy and we were asking for ideas? That's why we had all those meetings, to discuss stuff like this.
Now the guild has started, and some players are bringing up a question we answered long ago: We will NOT attack and kill other members of <AR>. Not in Flurry, Bloodfin, and Ahazi, at least. Duels are ok - they add excitement and competiveness. Deathblows are something that must be mutually agreed on prior to combat. All that was easy to decide, but large raids weren't...
If you participate in a large conflict and see a Ranger on the opposing side (if he carries the <AR> tag), I can't say don't shoot him. That's a large-scale war, and those rules are out of the Guildmember's hands. But...
1. I would not encourage you to kill that Ranger. I simply can't forbid it.
2. What happens on the battlefield STAYS on the battlefield. Once it's over, come back to the Guild Hall and join the group hunting, have a drink... whatever.
Those are Flurry's rules but I think Ahazi and Bloodfin stand beside them. I can't wait for Ahazi's celebration Saturday!
Great post Zkull! This is the first time I have seen people actually challenge each other on some of the topics... but it's very constructive. Keep up the good debates!

No argument - just a friendly discussion. And if I'm reading it right, I think Bleedoh just means that instead of having to deal with stopping and checking each others ID cards in the heat of a battle, that if you do happen to engage a member, you don't db. Is that correct?
Other than that, previous rules apply.
Aye, Deathblows to Fellow <AR>, even in the heat of Battle are un acceptable. Rangers shoudl be quick witted enough, and sharp in thier chosen combat skill enough to know what they are targeting and hitting. C'mon. There is NO REASON that you could not know what you are aiming at or hitting. I have been in many a battle flurry, and I can see who and what is targeted.
So if you take aim at something and start shooting, and you ralize after the first shot that you are throwing sluggs or energy bolts at a Fellow <AR>, Stop, and choose another target. If you cannot do such a thing? then stop fighting full stop, and start crafting until you further hone your combat skills.

I am obviously in the minority here, I just wanted to present all sides here. The fact is, I enjoy combat, and I have no problem being incapped by another ranger.
I need to be really clear I guess:
**I think ranger vs. ranger combat is cool**
I don't think deathblowing another ranger is cool.
You guys do not seem to share this I take it, since the majority feels like Antarians should not engage in any combat with each other unless its some of the above described scenarios. While I may not agree, I feel it's important to discuss it before commiting tothese bylaws.

I wanted to reply to this seperately since I felt it was directed towards me. I was asked early on to be a part of the Antarians by Zkull. We talked about it some and I felt that as a leader of my own guild and not a clear understanding of what this was exactly, I would wait until I knew what I was getting into.Zkull explained to me that was perfectly acceptable and that I could contribute at anytime.
I am bringing this up now because this is the first I have seen about how to deal with faction specifically. I am very happy how this is discussion is going, but if you are concerned about my status as a non-founding member I will continue to cheer you guys on from the sidelines.
I will still continue to tip my hat at every ranger I pass and I will not db them, because that is how I feel about Rangers in general. But I also think that Rangers are a tough breed and in my experience should be able to take a knockdown or two and get up and brush himself off with no hard feelings.
Matter of fact I kind of feel that way right about now ![]()
Go Rangers!
OK, time to chime in on this debate.
First off, lets get a couple of basic ground rules set soon! My suggestions are:
- No factional fighting in an (AR) PA hall.
- No factional fighting at meetings or PA sponsored hunts.
- Never ambush another Antarian Ranger. Even when overt, show your ranger brethren respect. Present yourself as an enemy, and allow the ranger time to prepare.
- I like the noDB idea, but a discussion is needed.
- Duels are fun, and should be encouraged as they help rangerspractice their skills. With a no DB rule, of course.
- Battlefields are for battles. I agree anything that happens on a battlefield stays there. By entering a battlefield, an Anterian Ranger has chosen to fight. Any factional enemies are fair game. No grudges, no griefing!
Rangers over Faction! I believe we can continue the great community built on these boards. I have seen nothing but respect from all rangers, rebel or imp. Faction aside, we are all brothers!
This is awesome guys...
I like the direction this is going, I agree with NerfBurger's list. This is turning into a very mature and honorable guild / PA. Who knows - as more content is added tot he game, we may have a significant role to play!
I never imagined the Ranger community would band together like this...
I am taking the lead on Gorath to get an AR guild started. Things are going slow now - only three of us so far
, but we are spreading the word.
Keep up the great work all!
Helroy,
Just to clarify - that was in no way directed at you specifically, or anyone for that matter. I was rather frustrated at the time when another Ranger came into the PA Hall of Flurry and we started talking about the guild. He sounded like a little kid and kept talking about how we were going to raid factioned player cities (of BOTH factions, not just one side -???- whatever he meant by that). I explained the rules and he basically told me that the entire guild was wasting it's time if it wasn't going to participate in the war. Trying to converse with this guy became impossible so I gotfrustrated, logged out and headed to the forums. Oops...
Now, before you all reply about what that Ranger (who had just gotten the titletoday) said, I KNOW that he was spouting out BS, it's just that since we are all working so well towards this goal as a community it is disheartening to know there are bad seeds out there. I wouldn't have wrote all this but I feel I needed to explain myself to Helroy and whoever else thought I might be giving them the cold shoulder.
All Rangers are welcome to the Antarians, not just the ones who sat around blabbing at those meetings!
I still, however, stand by my beliefs ![]()

Rangers over Faction!
I agree with 1-5 of Nerf's (or is it Burger's? must it be NerfBurger's? hehe) post. I even agree with most of 6.
I personally would very much hope that NO Antarian Ranger, regardless of faction, would deliberately target a fellow ranger, but this is one of those areas where discipline must come from the individual and not the group.
Rangers,
I have a proposal that might keep things simple. That is to allow for combat, but never land a death blow. Being incapped by a fellow Antarian would be exciting for me and I would take my hat off to them for accomplishing the task. But a death blow would be going to far.
As for picking different targets and avoiding conflict, I might see where this might get messy. I would prefer the deathblow rule myself.
Any thoughts?
Hey guys,
don't flame me or anything if this has already been asked, i just got the game liek 2 days ago. but iwas wondering if there was an Antarian guild on the eclipse server? cuz i mean what you guys sound like is exactly what im looking for. Cuz i would really apprieciate the help. I've been hunting and trapping on my own for a while and i am making progress but it's kinda boring doing it alone ya know? If you guys are busy or anything that's cool, but like i said i'd apprieciate it if there were a few Antarian rangers on Eclipse to help me move up the tree faster.
