If they make rangers harvest like 10x everyone else, cool, I'm happy.

If they make rangers harvest like 5x everyone else, and be able to harvest the other two (likely crap) resources simultaneously, I'm happy.

If they give rangers the 30% bonus we have now, but give us big big big boosts in our ability to take town animals (so that we're slaying them much more easily then say a MBH) then I'm happy.

If I had to choose, I'd probably prefer smaller harvesting bonuses and larger killing bonuses, but any of the three is good.

What about being able to harvest creatures multiple times - stepping up to 3x at master? That way you could harvest meat+hide+bone, or meat+meat+meat, or any other combination.
This would give us both the "harvest everything" AND the "harvest more" abilities, but never at the same time.

I'm fine with not being able to harvest everything. In order to get to the bones, you cut up the hide and scrape the meat off em. Yes, if you took your time you would be able to skin em, gather up the meat, then grab the bones, but let's face it, no one wants to sit by a carcass for 5 mins doing so, let alone the time it would actually take. So stick with one harvestable resource per kill.

Top Issues:

- % bonus to match our Creature Harvesting and Knowledge skill mod increase over scouts and novice rangers. Make the relationship much more linear (though not entirely, that would make the diff between a novice scout and master ranger about 700% )

- /assesresource, the game pretens for a moment we harvested the resource and shows us the container in an examine window, thereby showing us the amount we'd harvest and the quality of all the stats. This ability is gained at tracking II, not novice.

unrelated: I agree wholeheartedly with making us better hunters, however, this thread is about harvesting, not PvE mods

Hi - I would just like to second JB's suggestion that the harvest skill be spread out throughout all of the ranger trees rather than just the tracking tree.Right now, we rangers are in a situation that is similiar to that of the old CH's-- players only need master the tracking tree to get most of the advantages of ranger.

Well, I suppose that we might also ask that the most significant harvesting increases be conferred with the master ranger box. This would solve the problem as well, esp. if it were done in conjunction with diluting the harvest bonuses that are in the current tracking tree.

Is the harvesting skill capped at 125 -- I read somewhere that all skills are capped at 125, so that might be all that we can get.

I would also support the three resources at master proposal --

Erg - scratch my comments above and put me down for this instead -- this would seem to be the perfect solution, and it would probably be really easy to implement.

one big downside to that is that you'd get a 33% harvest for each kind as opposed to what we used to want, 100% for the first, 70% second and 50% third or so.
We'd be cutting into our own ideas with that concept.

Good idea, didn't think of that. Is it as easy to program tho? Getting only one shot is probably hard coded. Generating multiple resources added to you inventery is probably an easier code, all things considered.

My 2 Cents ....

1. Increase harvesting rates drastically, spread this out so that it matters at Master (not all in one line).

2. Allow Ranger to increase harvesting rates in a group. Spread this out just like item 1.

3. Give us bonuses and traps that will allow us to be more effective hunters.

4. Give us a /taxidermy skill. Ranger should be able to use the /taxidermy skill along with a taxidermy kit (This can be tied in with other professions if desired) to create a creature trophy, either full body or head mount.

(Ranger Calc here) I am actually quite partial to Rangers nullifying the group harvest penalty. I think it would make us be sought out for groups, BUT I don't want this to be the only way we are deemed necessary for a group. Anyone else agree?

Calc,

I agree, here is what a Ranger in a group should bring to the table.

  • Harvesting bonus or nullifying the group harvest.

  • Increased Hunting ability of the Ranger by use of bonuses and better traps (see outdoorsman).

  • /areatrack should be fixed and improved (see outdoorsman)

  • /conceal should be fixed and improved (see outdoorsman).

  • Ability to create Trophies for group members. These trophies should include the name or names of the players that killed it. This can be done easily by just added the names of the players that have looting rights.

  • Dang left this one out. Just shows how little it gets used Camps that are actually useful and beneficial to a group (see outdoorsman).

YES, and i know its been quoted alot but for good reason. Any combination of these as long as the net result is we bring in much more resources than others. and that getting to harvest three times is kinda neat too.

We need massively increased harvest. Yesterday. More and more stuff gets chucked into the game that needs huntables (just take a peak at the schematics for the new wookie armor posted at swg.warcry.com and laugh about the needs of 'generic' leathery and wooly for a full set - a minor amount of yavinian leathery is also needed), the situation for huntables will only get worse :/.
