Try this food combo out to avoiding using stims

Accargm
Garmorl
3 ahrissa

This should lower your specials cost to near zero with a laser rifle and save you the downtime. It will also give you regen on the top 6 stats in case you do get attacked. Think about adding a Canape to a hotkey. If you get jumped hopefully you will have the stomach open to eat one for a 11 minute boost to your bottom three stats if you dont then use muon.

And i believe Cover gives you a bonus to hit and it works with conceal and your crawl speed

Hope this helps

Thanks fodder... I didnt mention that in my unique case I have an alt who is a master doc so I make crates of my own stimpacks. For me this is cheaper than using the chef food.

well i am a wookiee who is an aspiring ranger. my problem is that i am master swords (so i have to get up close and personal) and wookiee armor has rediculous encumbrance. im not sure the lowest encumbrance anyone has seen but im sure it is still gonna have HUGE HAM costs comparatively. so is there anything i can do or should i just hunt no armor. i dont really want to buff to fight mid to mid-high level creatures. i am hoping to find a good way to do that sans-buff any suggestions?

Do what i say in the earlier posts just ignore the armor pieces. What you will want to do is get a 2 hand curved sword made up with low HAM costs. Then use accargm+garrmorl+ the quickness food gruuvan shaal+ 1 ahrissa to lower your specials. If you get you an entertainer buff before going out it would help. BUt you dont have to. Just using the 2 drinks and 2 foods you should be survivable in the field. Just start out with a 3-4k creature and work your way around from there.

Oh and about wookie your armor your right there is no such thing as low HAM wookie armor. Make sure you have a shoulder pad with the melee def BE additive in it. And i would recommend if theres any room left in your stomach after experimenting with those foods to get some vegesparine. It will give you +20-25 melee def for 12 minutes. You could take it with the follow combo

accargm
garmorrl
gruuvan shall
ahrissa
vegesparine

Tell the chef your working that the veghash component's stats for it mean nothing so use crap materials and no BE additives in the 2 veghash but do use the good stuff in the final vegesparine combine.

That help?

As a MRanger and (almost) MCH I use a combination of techniques...

1. Maskscent/cam + Concealshots (evt. going prone or kneeling). Mindshots to have 1 creature aggro.

2. Pets are trained to protect. Sometimes I send them in as a distraction (2 at the time).

3. Either have a fighting droid (advr3) out protecting me as well (especially when I go for helping the animals grow faster) or a harvester droid.

4. Wearing BE-clothing for CH lately, but if must, I can switch to Ubese pants, boots, jacket, gloves (sliced).

5. Ofcourse using traps... sonic pulse, phecnacine dart, glow wire mostly, sometimes flash, lep. dart

6. And the use of run/burstrun and to outwit the surrounding environment (read: npcs)

7. Use of pixie, muon, canape, brandy

Either way... most creatures do not come close to me most of the time. I only get in bad situations when playing in groups (especially with all them melee characters running in without thinking); I find myself rescue-shooting them... or breaking my concealshot (bug!).

Longtime master ranger, I tried melee(swordsman) and ranged combat professions. The best is easily rifles in my opinion. Rifles and ranged let you take more benefit from camo and maskscent skills, and let you use traps if you wish. I should mention I hunt without buffs, only use food. No armor, I use BE clothing with SEA's.
And keep your bike handy when hunting mountian squill "grins".
My only advice is armor and buffs, it seemed like I was either waiting for my wounds to heal, or operating with a buff.

well, Heres how i do it:

1.Wear +15 mask/camo shirt

2. /mask (don't have camo kits yet )

3. /ex to examine the creatures resists so i know what rifle to use

4. Go prone at optimal range

5. /concealshot x whatever it takes to kill it. if npc, I just found out that /flushingshot2 is very highdamage and an area attack.

6. if npcs, and your a rifleman, you dizzy'em with flurry shot, /surpress them, then /flush them, and watch them flop around like a fish out of water! it's great fun to see a Rebel Surface Marshall flop around!

but that's just me. Killed some Frenzied Grauls this way last night, along with several untrained force wielders i was proud of myself

Im levling up from fencer to TKM right now. I was a TKM/MR in the past and have been a Fencer/Ranger for awhile. I was also a master rifle/master ranger The biggest thing it seems is to take off your knucklers since TK speed + there high ham cost is hard to overcome. But what i found yesterday when i was doing this was a high action cost from specials without my VK's equipped. When i was TKM/MR before i could spam specials without them equiped now it doesnt seem to be the case and im not quite sure why.

I need to research this one a little better. I went master fencer as an unbuffed ranger because of the great defenses. But Im changing to TK because it gives you powerboost, removal of poison/disease, and wound healing in the field no matter what your battlefatique. These things outweigh the benefits of fencer.

Think mabari armor + accargm/garrmorl and 1 ahrissa from there the rest of what you use your stomach for is still to be defined.

I go along with what _NightRunner_ said. I'm a wookiee master ranger / master rifleman.

As I used to say "concealment is my tank". I have bio-engineered clothes, clothing attachments, and armour attachments, and crate loads of camoflauge. I rely heavily on stealth, not being seen.

I have clothes made up specifically for different environments, for visual camoflauge (it's good RP). Like JBMat mentioned, stims stim stims!

Even though choice for Wookiees is terribly limited, I have bio-engineeredclothes to help me. I have a shoulder pad with camo and mask scent bonus. I also have a wookiee sage hood with a wound/injury bonus.

I drink brandy, and use stims for when rifle specials have cleared out my health/action bars. The stims help when I'm under attack too, and I also carry some armour for when I'm under attack. I was using black mountain armour, but I'm currently using hunting armour, which has attachments to help my camoflauge and rifle cover.

When I am under attack I do use traps, p-darts and g-wires initially. If I'm under heavy attack (even the best laid plans go haywire sometimes), I will use sharp bone spurs to reduce their attack accuracy, dizzy and stun states are useful, but I tend to use rifle specials rather than traps to inflict them. However, if my HAM is low and I can't afford specials, then I use noise makers, flash bombs, even sonic pulses. I carry a wide variety of traps with me, and keep them in crate loads.

Good motto of the scout, "Be prepared".
