I thought this wasn't a new thing? I've been able to send tells and emails across servers for as long as I can remember, and although I didn't do it much, I've been able to join other server's channels as recently as 6 months ago.
I'll have to log onto eclipse and check the chat channel listing, and look for a "grin" to offer better help. But the only suggestion I can think of is that sometimes it's case sensitive. You should also put the full syntax in there... (SWG.Eclipse.roomname for example)
I looked at SeanBlader's post though, and it looks like he did everything right. The only guess I have is that it hasn't been created yet?
The cross server tells and emails have worked for me for a while. It's the chat rooms that I can never get to work. As for testing, grin definitely existed yesterday (DesktopSaki and I were working together to try and connect between them).
Method I used:
I used the chat interface to create Eclipse.chat.grin (using the command line was being slightly buggy). The channel was a public channel named grin and with the info text set to Galaxy Ranger Information Network.
DesktopSaki used "/chatroom join Eclipse.chat.grin" to join the channel.
Both of us used "/alias egrin /Eclipse.chat.grin".
Both of us had a window with the grin channel added.
Both of us could communicate through said window.
I logged into my Wanderhome character.
"/chatroom join Eclipse.chat.grin" failed.
I could not find the chat room through the interface.
I sent a tell to DesktopSaki, asking for a chat room invite (/chatroom invite Wanderhome.Lythender Eclipse.chat.grin, I think it was).
The invite claimed to work from Eclipse but did nothing on my end.
After messing around for a while with similar stuff, I couldn't find anything that worked (most of it was similar to the above).
I logged back on to Eclipse and did "/chatroom destroy Eclipse.chat.grin". The channel was destroyed and DesktopSaki was kicked from it (sadly, it likes to recreate itself whenever I do /chatroom refresh).
The channel definitely existed and worked locally. Trying from another server failed (with minimal error context given).
:
okes you again about using GRM instead of RIN/GRIN::
/grin
...
/flee
Sorry to necro this, but I am having a really slow day today, and I tried to join the GRIN chatroom.
Is it even set up?
I've used every command listed in the posts above, and they have not yielded access to the chatroom.

Well, after trying for an hour or so, I could not get the cross server chat stuff working (see my second to last post in this thread for info on this). Whether or not it is up, it doesn't seem to work
Edit: it is my second to last post (well, third to last now), not my last post.

I've been trying to figure this out, myself.
so far, it seems to work EQ2 -> SWG, but not SWG -> SWG.
