Thread: Do you solo? (no pets)

I solo Endor quite easily, though this may change with nerfs to knockdown. Granted I kinda like being a PvE god, but I think it will be good for the game overall. I will start seeking players and forming hunting parties the day I cannot solo effectively.

I solo all the time. No creatures, no droids, no faction pets. I get all hopped up on tattoine sunburn or pixie and I can solo quite a few things. Last night I was doing the emporer's retreat mission set and you have to take out a fambaa. Took it down no problem. I am a 2 hand swordsman / ranger.

I agree Zip,

I have done some grouping but have been solo 90% of the time. I hunt bule and white con creatures (less down time).

I like to have a pet soon thought (I play a Hunter in DAOC and like having that pet while hunting). The probots do seem too powerful (consider Empire when the bot self-destructs after Han and Chewy take a few shots at it).

I was thinking CH / Ranger mix.. Any one here done this yet? If so is it a good mix?

Thanks and …

Good Hunitng!

depends on what I'm doing as to whether or not I use a pet. I have novice CH, and I use a bio-engineered dewback. With it and a good supply of traps, I'll solo challenge level 26 belle bols. I can take anything up to about challenge level 20 without the pet - a white con for me is challenge level 12.

The bigger creatures do take more time, and I can empty a nest of vrelts in the time it takes me to kill 1 belle bol, but killing the belle bol is a lot more fun than the nest of vrelts. From a time/xp standpoint, it might not be the best, but from an entertainment standpoint it certainly is.

I will end up selling back CH later on down the road. They are fun, but it isn't something I want to master.

Pet use for me is situational, just depends on what I want to hunt that day. Having a pet is nice when you have a group of people and no one in the group is capable of acting as a tank. Pets work great for that.

i solo all the time as well. aside from survival / frontiering, it's the easiest way for me to build xp. i take on fairly decent creatures (white and yellow mainly and red about 30% of the time). it just takes tactics, patience, and a good amount of traps. you just have to play a ranger as they should be played and use your environment to your advantage. for instance, always try to lead creatures uphill if you can, use adhesive mesh traps on advancing creatures while you're shooting at another, etc. plus it's cool when you're out in the middle of nowhere and you run across somone getting torn up and you can use rescue, then heal them in your camp. there's been more than a few occasions where people have been glad to see me. ranger is the ultimate frontiersman and a master of the wilderness, that's where we belong. patrolling dangerous areas and hunting big game is our thing. i've also soloed and helped out hunting parties at the same time before by scouting a few hundred meters ahead and letting them know what's coming up. pretty useful in my opinion.

I also solo, rifleman style. I have had fun hunting Sharnaffs with a group in the past, but I tend to solo.

Find a nice spot, take cover and mindshot/headshot away. I candropyellows before they get to me, assuming my laser rifle is hitting hard. Most of the time I just set up a camp, hunt a few whites, come back to rest up and have another go at it.

Yes, I TRULY solo. No pets, no droids, no PC's, I'm ungrouped ALL the time. I rarely hunt yellows, I spend most of my time hunting whites and blues, virtually non-stop with little to no downtime. Yes, I know, it's not as COOL as fighting those big red thingies but then again I don't look to passerbys like I'm flying a kite running wildly across the landscape while firing over my shoulder either. I'm a novice Rifleman as well as a Ranger so I pull 'em with a Mindshot, throw a couple traps on 'em as they come in and then finish them off with my heavy swordsman ability (soon to be novice as well).

I stand my ground, I am a Ranger.

Not a Zookeeper.

Not a Kite flier.

I too hunt solo (95% of the time). Everyone in the PA I am in has scout abilities so trying to get hides/bones is near impossible, plus the downtime to wait for everyone, kill something really quickly then wait is too much for me.

I usually hunt whites and yellows and live with masked scent on. It actually works rather well for me.

I take missions hunting white cons and get paid well for it so I could afford a large corellian house.

I go to Rori, Corellia and Endor mostly, but when I have an itchy trigger finger, I try to go to Dantooine and Yavin for good trapping experience.

I don't have any pets or droids, but have often thought of getting one. If they allowed 256 points instead of 250 I would be set.

I solo all the time. I'm a brawler ranger and have little use for ranged support, so I often go it alone. I solo giant dalyrakes, bull torturs, huf duns, hilltop kimas, snorbals, tusk cats, narglacthes and a host of other critters all without the aid of pets or droids (I hate droids). The sword has been my only weapon since day one and I have made a sizable bank selling lokian and dathomirian hides. I'm only two slots on the survival tier away from being master ranger and must say that it is verty hard getting xp for that alone. To remedy that I go to Dathomir with another swordsman and a combat medic and hunt rancor and baz nitches. Baz nitches are so much fun and full of xp when you actually take the time to kill them and not crawl into the lair for a cheap 10 grand and and a lousy 2k or 3k xp. If you kill each baz nitch you get nearly 3k for each one and 465 scout xp for harvesting them.

Up until recently, I did completely solo most of the time. I just picked-up CH so now I am testing it. I am a melee user, so anything that increase my XP to BF ratio is a good thing. The faster I kill, the less I get hit, the less BF I get, the longer I can stay out hunting till I have to head in.

If I werea marksman, I don't think I would need a pet as much.

thanks everyone.

this is convincing me to drop CH.

ive also just royally screwed up all my skills by dumping combat skills to try my hand at crafting, and im finding i hate it.
so now i get to sped the next few days trying to work my rifle and pistol skills BACK up again. what a waste.

but its fun to try new professions out once in awhile. ive tried every base profession except brawler, and have tried a number of different advanced professions. all of them lead me back to bein a hunter. so i just have to find the right weapon to go along with it. i tried carbineer and really dig carbines, but im finding that they just miss too much. so i think im gonna dual rifle/pistol, and dump artisan (even though i spent alot of money setting up my shop) and CH (ill be looking to sell some of the really nice pets ive gotten through my vendor before i close it up).

I solo about 90% of the time.. I refuse to use a pet/droid to do my bidding. At the moment it seems likeeveryone has a pet or probot. The only time I would consider using a probot would be to guard me while I'm sampling or afk.

Not to go too far off topic here but the ability to change professions, explore options and do it all with one character truly make this game cool. No more need to create alts to answer the nagging "I wonderwhat it would be like.." type questions.
