Thread: What is it about being a Master Ranger

I'm all for change as long as it doesn't turn the Ranger profession into the "fad-ful". But once they give us abilities to make us "semi-uber" and everyone flocks to us(like the Creature Handler profession), that's when it's over for us.

I understand the "fad-ful" thing though. When I started playing, the big professions were Bounty Hunter and Smuggler and Droid Engineeer. They were EVERYWHERE. And then the dreaded CH fad happened. <shiver> Now I'm seeing a lot more Commandos and Musicians. Been in a Coronet cantina lately? LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!

Sorry to go against the grain of this very positive thread, but there seems to be no real reason be become a Ranger rather than its a fun class to role play.

I am personaly very dissapointed with the class and hope some of the changes that have been outlined happen soon.

Like camps not breaking when in combat, and traps having more effect and also working on NPC's, and lastly being able to track overt. This would make Ranger fun, but at the moment it is not.... for me anyway.

I'm not a Master Ranger yet but I have 2-0-2-3 in less that 2 days of non-stop Rancor hunting.

The only downside to it is that there is never Rangers on Dathomir to teach you, I always have to leave the hunting group and got Coronet or some place to get tought. And there isn't always a Ranger there either. I'm finding Ranger extremely sweeet (specially the traps, over 1.5k per trap on a Rancor ).

Try this and this is just a suggestion, mind you. If you know in advance that you are going to be on Dathomir, and getting close to needing training, why don't you post here. I am sure that if you give enough advance, that a Master Ranger would meet you there and help out.

Milk, you said in your first paragraph what all of us are saying. We play Rangers because it is FUN. Who cares about what abilities it gives you in the game? Who cares if it has no use in PvP. And who cares about the usefulness in the GCW.

A Ranger is a loner, an outdoorsman. Would a true Ranger care about the Rebels trying to overthrow the oppressive government(Empire)? Probably not. As long as his animals are good, his tracking skills are good, and he's living a humble life(yes, Rangers live very poor and humble lives for those who have brought up not being able to make 100k in a week), he's happy. You MAY see a Ranger being hired by the Empire to serve as a Recon Scout to scout ahead to make sure their troops don't run into anything nasty, but front-lines in a Civil War the Ranger cares not.
