Thread: What is it about being a Master Ranger
My holo said Chef, I feel your pain.
I decided I liked being a Master Ranger. We are elite, and with the new standards for Jedi, will be more elite, as the hologrinders will quit messing with us and go away.
3 Master Rangers in one area, like a starport is an event worthy of a screen shot. I personally have never seen 4 Masters in one area.
I like being elite, I like harvesting, I like my PvP mission (recon) and I am not gonna change. This morning I was taking people on hunts for xp. I got a fellow ex-Master Ranger (holo made him an artisan) 2 levels in rifle in 3 missions the other day. I draw missions and then group, and laff as the other people in the group realize I solo what they are now seeing (Torturs are fun and great xp).
So no Enoshima, you are not alone.
I am staying Ranger for quite some time. I was tempted to go chef, so I sold all that water and wheat I had stockpiled. What was I thinking???
Oh yeah, I have all the exploration badges except for 2, aqualish which is borked and tusken, as I never seem to get there. And I walked to 90% of them too. You miss stuff on a swoop.

Yeah... I've never seen more than one Master Ranger at a time.. and even then it's a rare event. And that's reason enough for me to want to be one. ![]()
I think one of the best things for me (besides being a rare breed) is the big camps... everyone freaks out when they see even the Field Base (I don't have HTFBs yet), and they're like, "THIS is a *camp*?" Hehe.
I don't care what anyone says about PvP or GCW or Economy, this profession is great. I for one am staying (especially now that leaving for the hologrind will do me no good... there's no way I'll finish before the publish changes everything).
My reasons for loving the Ranger:
1. They are rare, and I love to play rare breeds. Personally I can't stand being one of a million Bounty Hunters, Creature Handlers, or Pistoleers. I need some way to stand out more. And for me it's the Ranger.
2. I've been playing Rangers in video games and role-playing games since I was 11. I'm not gonna stop now heheh.
3. Most of my favorite literary characters are Rangers. (Robin Hood, Legolas, Aragorn, Tanis Half-Elven top the list)
4. In life I guess I'm kinda a Ranger. I grew up in forested foothills, I learned stuff like hunting and camping and hiking as a kid. I'm pro-environment and animal(not animal rights, I do eat beef and chicken and can't stand PETA). And I'm in college to either be a Dolphin Biologist or a Wilderness Ranger (haven't decided yet but I have many years left to decide ehhh).
I was a master ranger, master pistoleer...and for a while I was getting zero experiece in scouting, trapping, camping, shooting or anything. I had soloed almost everything in the game and I was dreading becoming a human harvester for my wealthy clients.
Long short I freaked out and I was going to go pure combat, I wanted to cut a swath of destruction across the planets. The first thing I noticed that I cut a swath very slowly as I merely strolled up hills, I was used to sprinting up hills and now, I was just so slow.
No problem, I would make up for that In sheer weapons skills.... I never really went holo-hunting, I never really saw the point in being a swg jedi.... but then xmas happened and i got my freebie. It said master medic. I was halfway there so what the hey, I mastered medic. Then by chance a friend gave me 3 holocrons, my next one said master artisan, I did that.
This is my reccomendation to any rangers who want to make money.
Get Novice Artisan and climb up the business tree. Sell things on the bazaar and for that, you will accumulate merchant experience, then, when you have enough, get novice merchant and place 2 vendors where you can sell your organics and miscellaneous things. I have made a ton of money selling organics to people and I wondered how I existed without a merchant before. When you meet potential clients, shoot them your waypoint and soon enough, word gets around.
I digress
I mastered Artisan and my next one said TKM...cool, I was doing that anyway.
By this time, I was so sick of not being able to harvest, running too slow, and the fact that I had become one of the hologrinders (although I did have fun doing it and used it to my advantage). I decided to come back to ranger. I mastered scout in one day got novice ranger in the same day as well.
And now, as a ranger 1.1.4.1, on my way to master ranger again, with TKM instead of pistoleer as my combat class, I am having a lot of fun again.
I enjoy the underdog status
I really enjoy the community, there are some intelligent and witty people on these boards who know how to take a joke.
Some of my best friends on the Lowca server are rangers (Oppma)
The ranger skills in and of themselves are not perfect, but I have fun doing them. I cant wait for Rangers to become even better, but I left a semi-broken profession and I realized that I really enjoyed it.
After joining the other boards, and returning to the ranger boards...there is no comparison
