Slightly off topic paks. I have decided that everytime i see a jedi blantanly holding a lightsaber or wearing the padawan robe in town. That Canon will say
"JEDI IT IS YOUR TIME TO DIE! I'VE BEEN SENT TO KILL YOU! Sorry its just business"
Im not a BH. I just want to scare the heck out of them

I don't know - my experience is sort of different - I've always been a hard-core badge collector; I have 86 badges and only 5 of these are profession badges. Hell, I even did the rebel and Imp act ii and iii missions to get the separate badges for each. I have the tat hero badges, and even theexceptional bio badge as well. In fact, aside from the profession badges and accolade badges, I only lack the keren racetrack (can't wake up early enough lol), the rebel assasination corvette mission badge and the imp corvette mission badges.
So, of course, it's no great surprise that I'm glowing right now.
But I had imagined I'd be seeing the old man -- I mean my thought was "wow, finally it's my turn" - I hunted for all the holo-grinders, was one of the few that helped keep the economy going, etc..., was one of the few who actually stuck with a profession no matter how borked it was and tried to have as much fun as possible, tried to fashion an identity around that profession, etc...., but as of yet (and I guess I should have seen this coming), no old man, and now I'm reading contradictory things from TH, and it sounds like there's a 90% chance that I'm at the bottom of some unfathomable queue.
I mean I realize that the holo-grinders have put a lot of effort into their stuff, but so have I - I've harvested for people since day 1, done every content-related quest I could get my hands on, explored every corner of every planet, etc., but once again I have this sinking feeling that I'm in line behind the people who figured out how to master every profession without going more than 1000 m away from any given shuttle port and the people who figured out the 25 or so badges that you needed to get to get glowing status and burned through them in two days (no offense guys... I'm in a foul mood tonight lol).
And I just wanted to do the force quests to get some extra skills to help me harvest more, etc... and, well because it's new content and it sounds interesting.... I could care less about getting an uber pvp jedi....
But to make matters worse, I logged on with my alt, a master merchant, and none of his vendors are on the map anymore - none.
So going into this patch I thought, wow, finally some vindication for those of us who actually bothered to experience a lot of content that this game had to offer and, wow, finally some vindication for those of us who didn't exploit merchant, but alas, so far no old man and no vendors on the map.....

OMG - pls let me be the old man. Imagine the possibiities ---
Hey there, yeah you Beavis... wake up. Here, take this crystal. For some unknown reason you decided you are worthy of being a Jedi. Hah, I say Hah. Yeah yeah, the Force is strong in you... they have medicines that will cure those midichlorians yanno. Guard the crystal, or don't, I don't care, I got more. I should be called the freaking Crystal Man, but the anti-drug people flipped out on that one.Maybe I can suggest a place you can stick it so no one will find it? If you should lose it, don't be holding your breath on me coming back. You will turn all blue and look funny. You know how many goobers are running around doing POIs right now? Jabba's palace looks like WalMart on payday.
Let me move while these two Sith make mincemeat out of you. No bleeding on the clothes, I just bought em and I haven't bled on them yet. If you manage to win, good luck bucko, you will need it. How an entertainer/musician/tailor/artisan/medic/doctor ever got through some of those places.... oh, you went with a group? Back up some more, willya? Blood stains the camo.
Anyhow, good luck. Glad to see people are so easily influenced by shiny objects.
/che You have an inner glow. You will be used as a nite lite by Darth Vader.

LOL Fodder. I have a MBH friend who used to love to terrify Jedi. When he would see one in the buff line (typical signs of a Jedi - composite, no profession badges, LOTS of POIs to hide the fact of no profession badges), he would go stand really close to the guy and just stare at him for a while in silence. Then he would bring out one of his exploding droids, tell it to follow the Jedi, and run away. He got more Jedi to abandon their buff lines and run for the hills.
There is no way he could have actually killed the Jedi, since they weren't teffed, but aparently those little exploder droids were enough to strike terror into the hearts. Now, of course, the Jedi would probably laugh at his droid, but it was fun while it lasted. And it made the buff lines shorter.
Oh, and I would pay good money just to watch JB be the old man for a day.

I had to go get more coffee to spray over my monitor. I'd run out by halfway.
I'm not FS. I'm only faintly sensible.
But thanks to these posts, i have now got a purpose in life again.
Am going to make me a toon called "Old Man'", get me a set of clothes to match his and start hanging about the shuttleports sending FS wannabes off to kill mountain worrts, Tuskens and Alkies.
Well, it'll keep them busy while they wait on the real one coming along.

Probably my longest post:
Well, I like playing well-rounded, self-sufficient characters. Therefore, in any FRP I tend to play a battle mage or equivalent character that combines combat with magic. In SWG the nearest profession is Jedi, so as soon as I started, that was my long term goal.
When I started back in March, the Jedi system was already due to be overhauled, and I needed to get my bearings before I could working towards jedi, so I chose Ranger/Pistoleer/Medic as my interim template, but that turned out to be a poor choice.
Around Pub 9, I tried to position myself for a fast start on the FS/Jedi track: I switched to a combat oriented template, worked on rounding out my badge collection, maxed out on certain types of xp, built up my cash reserves, worked on looting enough crystals to have a ready supply, etc. I also did one holoprof, but balked at the second one (Combat Medic).
I tested parts of the new content on TC2. Didn't follow through when I saw that the quests were trivial.
Last week I finished the last of the badges that I had estimated to be high priority, leaving just the Corvette to be added if I turned out to be surging.
Come publish, I checked out glowing...mission accomplished, now just have wait for the visit and move on to village...except of course, the devs in their infinite wisdom, decided to limit the access to the village to a managable number of people. To be expected, but disappointing. (I had even speculated that they might do this using the visits of the old man as the mechanism in a TC thread.)
Now I feel in a kind of limbo...since I have maxed all of my relevant xp, any serious effort will be 'wasted' until I can convert existing xp to fs xp. Of course, I can play to 'enjoy' the game, which I will do, but the fs grind is a long and tedious one, and I would rather start working on it.
If on average every day I get 400k weapons xp (and 40k combat xp, of course), I need on the order of 42 days to finish the xp for one branch! Factoring in the 3 week phases, it will take about 4.5 months of steady work to get to the exit quest, assuming I get one free unlocked branch and do one sense branch using scout xp. Since I am not that dedicated, and might spend some time playing JtL, it will probably take 6-12 months. After that, maybe another 6 months finishing the Jedi template. It is certainly a long term project.
Actually, it wouldn't be too bad, except for the fact that during the entire 1-2yr project, I will be at the mercy of the marvelous design decisions of the SOE team. What devs giveth, devs might taketh away. As you might know, this feeling of not being in control of one's life is one of the major sources of stress.
*curls up in fetal position and plans out which fs branches he will do*

All I have to do to be glowing is Nym's. I'll probably do it tonight, just realax and take in the dirty, sulfur-ridden landscape of Lok...
No rush I say, I have a definite goal of unlocking a second slot. And since I'm not freakish about getting a jedi, I don't mind waiting some weeks to start. I dont even know if slot 2 will be a jedi, I think he will but Im not sure. either way Im just cruisin'.
I have thought about it. I bet a lot of us have. It would be kind of cool to think about people saying "ohh that ~*master ranger*~ <in that nervous Butterbur voice I always imagine>, 'e's a jedi now". something appealing about that, eh?
But I don't think I could ever forfit my skills, and most of all my title and identity Ishare with everyone like me. trust me,I have not the time or the will to remake a ranger as the second slot. I just can't bring my self to do it, so, 2nd slot, here we come! and if it never happens, well, the Corellian sunset and a warm campfire are there to console me..

I honestly don't care about Jedi myself. What I do care about are the low skill point cost bonuses that can enhance my combat skills.
Specifically, as a Master Ranger/Pistoleer, I've got 18 points hanging around to spare. Those FS boxes will actually be pretty dang nice bang for the buck enhancements since I have so many skill points tied up with Ranger.
Specifically, Ranged speed, accuracy, and survival are looking mighty nice. I'll probably just split my remaining 6 skill points between melee and ranged defense. It should make for a nice overall package.

I am having way too much fun imagining what you would say to newly glowing Jedi-hopefulls. And in what manner you would give them their crystal!
On that note I think that when I hit glowing I may hide in my house until they revamp the Jedi system again. My imagination is too good.

I think I would go more like this...
"I have one more question, out of curiousity: Did you grind Ranger and toss it, or keep it and stopped grinding after you found out it was fun?"
"Ranger? You GOT to be kidding me! That is one of the most WORTHLESS professions... I think I blew through that one in 3 days and dropped it immediately. Why do you ask?"
"NO CRYSTAL FOR YOU! ONE YEAR!"
