I've made nearly 35 million in just the last month.
we had a great spawn of rancor meat where i harvested almost a million units of it. I sold it to a few different people for between 25 and 35 cpu, made about 27 million. i sold a couple hundred k of good leathery hide for 10 cpu, so a couple million there,2 million the last two days for insect meat, a quarter million last night for dantooine wild milk (10k units at 25 cpu), a million for some other kind of meat, and there are two good meat spawns on the galaxy RIGHT NOW! All this while grinding towards Jedi.
I'm a happy ranger!
the good meat on naritus right now are Rori Herbivore and Lokian Avian. 75 cpu for the herb meat, probably 50 cpu for the avian but i can't confirm that yet.
I too agree with a previous poster that hunting should not be a ranger's primary purpose. Survival, reconaissance and search/destroy are the true "Star Wars" roles we should fill.

I don't have many monkeys. The few monkeys I have tend to be made to work very hard as I've got a monkeyhouse problem. But hey, couple of daft missions or some birdy shooting and am flush again, so no big.
I think it was JB who commented on the greatest feeling, when we pop that first HUGE tent? If it wasn't, well, whoever said it was right. I still get a happy from dropping a HTFB. Have to beat the plebs off with a stick sometimes.
/dream if only... Master Rangers got a FO Big Top tent, heck, with a shuttleport, its about all we DON'T have!!
I used to get real hacked off by the monkey braggers, y'know? My monkey's bigger than yours.. wel my monkeys are well ard and could beat your monkeys up, blindfold... yebbutt yebbutt yeah.. Now I just grin, think peaceful thoughts and imagine their ulcers bursting when they can't manage to make that nth squidillion monkey stash.
But hey, different strokes, eh?

Personally I hate grinding a harvest purely for the money.
I heard tell Lokian herbie was good on my server - my response - I HATE LOK.
Not going.
The meat I harvested last weekend was a by product of helping people level up in scouting and weapons, not as an end to a means.
Yeah, I made about a million, whoopee doo - another million.
Chucked money at the PA, some noobs, the city, my houses, my harvestors, and still got a big chunk left.
Money is nice, but playing with friends is more fun.

I'm not especially fond of Lok, either. But, like Thortac, I'd like to have a nice chunk of change in the bank when those ships start rolling off the assembly line. Hence the less-than-riveting lokian avian meat hunt.

I've never really harvested for money and profit. I harvest for my friends and for a certain special BE/CH( who probably will read this at some point or another *waves*). I pretty much fill the support side of Rangers. I track, guide people through the wilderness, mob control via rescue and my combat abilities, and so on.
So, I pretty much live the life of the park/wilderness Ranger which is the aspect of this profession that attracted me to it all the way back in the original beta.

I actually became a Ranger as the perfect compliment to my Master Chef.
So here is a quick Chef meat primer:
Chefs need LOTS of a resource. All their schematics and the ability for them to make money depends on doing full or nearly full factory runs of a particular item. You can do less, but it is tremendously inefficient to do so.
Chefs love carnivore meat. It is one of the primary ingredients in bivoli, and they need a lot. 750 units just for one crate.
Unlike a lot of crafting classes, ALL the specifications on meat (OQ/PE/FL/DR) are important to some degree. So its a bit hard to simply state the requirements. But here goes:
- In order of importance, it goes PE-OQ-DR-FL.
- PE and OQ are by far the most important, and PE only slightly more so than OQ.
- DR and FL are also important, but as long as they are both over 350 or so, the Chef should be able to work with it. But a Chef will want the PE and OQ to be 800+.
- Every point of PE is worth 2 points of OQ, so if the meat is PE950 and OQ750, they will still be very happy.
It's very hard to determine pricing server to server, so I will simply give examples from my own server:
Carni with the stats:
OQ : 750
PE : 950
FL : 400
DR : 400
Will fetch 30-40 CPU on Starsider. We have sime like this now actually (or just shifted in the last day or so)
Once you start heading up though....there is almost no cap to the price.
EXAMPLE....BOXI: Tat Carnivore meat - Single greatest organic resource to spawn on Starsider (I think):
OQ : 999
PE : 986
FL : 971
DR : 970
This stuff goes for 225-325+ CPU right now, and when it was in shift it was going for 150-250.
So there you go. And keep in mind, that is just Carnivore meat. Chefs also need milk, hides, and ALL meats. They can use any type of meat to give to BE's to make the additives their foods require. For all other meat besides carnivore, just add up the OQ, PE, and FL. If it is 2400+ or better, it is worth at least 25-70 cpu to Chefs.
Last tip: Unlike Docs with Avian meat, Chefs use a LOT. Get them stacks of 50k or better. I used to contract for 100k stacks before I became a ranger.
Hope this helps!

How many hides and bones do you think the engineers will need to make a ship?

Actually, you can get 100 cpu for the lokian avian on naritus right now. I'm at 2 mil credits and counting, but I've only been harvesting it since yesterday and, let's face it, lokian avian is pretty slow harvesting. Unless something bigger than a perlek ravager or giant flitdrops it, in which case I'd like to send in my application for a master ranger dunce cap right about now.
