No argument here, only a little addition: only one droid or one pet for non-ch... a CH can have 3 pets + droid, as in a one (wo)man band/army

Pets require growing time, food, training as you progress or you look for someone to train them for you. Droids require batteries, you train them once.

Droids are not affectionate. Pets are

Pets run if hit by AOE intimidate, droids don't.

Good pets with good ferocity don't run. Droids DO run when they don't have at least 1 combat module fitted.

Between my two droids I have energy, electrical and kinetic attacks. 90% of pet attacks are kinetic.

So a pet with good resist vs kinetic and ham will last way longer then a droid. Until they better the droid armor, a pet is better in tanking.

My droids can self heal as they tank and fight. You heal your pets. (but not mind wounds in combat)

Well droid doesn't use mind.... Should replace mindbar with battery bar

Oh yeah, I can also heal my droids.

I say again - CH is useless. I harvest them, I don't train them or tame them.

I do it all

I have no problem with your opinion that CH is useless. CH's like me know we have our difficulties bit with good combinations we can be much more effective then a droid can ever be. And that's my opinion.

My cat is cute and a good companion.. my droid is dull and stays in my data pad!

So in effect you agree with me (the red text was mine, if you didn't get it )

I totally agree with you hun.

JB may have a point on droids being better for skills pts and not running etc etc (I have no idea if pets really are more powerful than droids tbh and dont much care) but from an RP angle and not just a must have everything uber gameplay angle, CH and pets are great imo.

I treat my cat like a real pet... I pat his head, I talk to him when I'm in my camps and he's my only companion there at the time. Droids just leave me cold really. Must be an RL thing, cos R2 and 3PO were great in the movies but I can't relate to having a droid as a companion. A big cat or dog, I can... go figure

Edit: PS Apologies to Ickpon for rather hijacking your thread... sorry hun /hug

Oh that's all right! Kick me around and abuse me sure, I get it!

hehe, N/P, I am still debating the whole thing. I really want to go master ranger, I am just unsure if it is worth losing that Health shot I.

Well assuming you've had pistols a while, and you have some saved up xp and havent given it away to that evil force mallarky, drop it and see how it goes? If you can't live without it, retrain.

I messed about with CH and ended up doing 4x4x, then x3x4, then x3xx and am soon likely to drop it all. It was a waste of xp I guess.. but I had nothing else to do with it as i was just getting it in the natural course of my hunting life, so /shrug

What do you think would be more useful as a TKM? A third tier CH box for lvl 19 pets and a droid at the same time or novice medic for stim use? I'm thinking CH cause I can have a tank as well as a damage dealer/trap/stim thrower droid.

Not really following you there. Are you saying I can have a level 19 pet to tank for me while I deal damage as a TKM versus being a medic or the pistol skill?

I did not think I can have a droid that heals me without me being a medic myself...

I beg to differ

As you said previously (or in another post): you use your BE razor cat to tank.

As such as a MCH (well almost), they _are_ usefull.

Ummm.... I think that might have been me, actually. I've got my BE razor kitty Jinx that I use all the time and just love, and have mentioned in the past in one of the "droid vs pet tank" threads, since I have and use both, but have a certain fondness for my kitty since she's named after my real cat.... and nearly as ferocious!!!

Wait... did someone just mistake a post I made for one of JB's? I don't know whether to be flattered or think that it's time for me to seek some "sensitivity" training, apparently all that the USAF put me through wasn't enough...

It was more of a mini thread hi-jack as a question to the CH users

If you get a third teir box in CH you can have a lvl 19 pet to tank for you, which you can heal without medic using pet stims. You can also call a droid at the same time as your pet that could be used as a damage dealer, trap thrower of for healing you with Stim As. You would need a friend with organic chem 4 to load the stim launcher for you though. You dont need medic to request a stim.

For me, those options are more viable than keeping your pistol skills to draw a single agro at a time because you can use a pet to tank and have a droid dealing extra damage at range and throwing traps or dealing damage and healing you. Only problem is not being able to heal your pets health and action wounds...

This is what I'm going to be doing as a TKM/ranger/ch 3xxx

Okay, well are there other options to pull from range?

With traps you need to be very close to the mobs and if the /conceal breaks you can have three HL mobs chasing you, which "might" not be fun.

The advantage to that pistol is being 60 meters out and getting that DOT going.

1) Does it help significantly with your trapping ability, are you effective at trapping even HL mobs?
2) What about your /conceal ability, are you able to sniff around HL mobs without it breaking?

Hi! Master Ranger here

1. at Master Ranger you get trapping skill of 110 IIRC. Before i left the game to go rangering the world for real, Ispent a bit of time in the geonosian caves (nice place to go if you fancygrinding out ranger scouting and trapping xp). Enhanced Kwi's (or was it klickniks ) are level 109 creatures and i was able to get 2 out of 3 traps to stick on them for a sweet 2000 trapping XP per trap that stuck. Harvesting them also gave loads of scouting xp (can't remember how much though).

2. Regarding /conceal and/or /maskscent. The most xp i've ever managed to get was about 250 scouting xp from a Kimogila (can't remeber which kind) on Lok and they are fairly high level (maybe 80 or 90) but forget about anything over lvl 100 they will detect you quicker than you can re-apply.

Hope that helps

You're TKM - why would you care if you aggro a whole lair at once lol?

I am effective as a pistoleer. The problem with a melee skill is it will cause camo to break in the melee battle.
