hmmmm...

in some of the trails, like in Etyyy, i can walk un-noticed in the Chiss camps, walk through herds of critters with impunity, but vs. some of the creatures down there, i tend to get aggroed.. camo still up, and aggroed.

maybe i shouldnt wear the ranger tag

they seem to like that.

im guessing that its a CL vs camo skill that is the issue.

well, i'm a level 80 Master Pistoleer/Master BH, with ZERO camo skills, and i was whapping Gotal Trappers (CL81 and CL82) upside the head without them attacking me.

and as far as a Katarn hunt, i'll need to wait and see. My girlfriend's sick, and usually i spend most of my weekend at her place, so we'll see. if she's too sick to want me to come over, then we can do a Katarn hunt this weekend sometime. I think it would be best for us to find either a Master Doc or Master CM to come along and play as just a dedicated healer. maybe get a melee guy to tank and armor break him too. I think if we can get a healer, and a melee tank, than the 4 of us would have no trouble with Katarn.

Camo works down there.

I camo'ed myself using that camo kit you made (note i have no Ranger skills) and i was sneaking past level 80-82 Gotal Hunters and Minstyngars. Everything was going great til i ran into the abandoned droids, since camo doesn't hide you from droids.

After i met up with the droids, it was /BurstRun for teh win!!!

Hmm, that is the exact opposite of what I have found. Everything sees straight through my camo down there.

Now the Webweaver trail, everything broke the camo or maskscent when i used it there.

When Draknev and I head down to the Shadowlands to try for Katarn, i'll try it out again, and report my findings, but i know i was walking less than 5 meters from Gotal Hunters and Trappers and they weren't attacking me. Same with the higher end Minstyngars down there.

i should do a quick test again there, right now my experiences have been only anecdotal.. gonna need to count hits vs. misses next time im there.

Try crawling. Really. It took FOREVER, but I made it through the entire webweaver trail using maskscent by watching the locations of the spiders and crawling. Definitely seems to give you a better chance to avoid detection since you're moving a lot slower and I guess present a smaller profile (tho what that has to do with scent masking, I'm not sure).

If you decide to start mass-producing camo kits draknev, i'll buy a crate of Kashyyyk ones. Also, let me know in-game what resources you need for them, and i'll even help gather resources for kits.

When you guys decide to go down, send me a tell. I've really started enjoying hunting in groups ever since some guys and I took down Necrosis without jedi. Hunting with a ranger and another former ranger would be lots of fun.

Lowca's gonna take over the Ranger forums soon...

last time we were out hunting, i think i was outdamaging Draknev and his silly rifles. You guys can keep your rifles, i'll take my trusty Trandoshan Supressor Pistol anyday.
