Thread: DE Getting another Revamp NOT Ranger
What did we do on the Test Center forums when we weren't getting the health or CL increase from Scout or Ranger with the CU testing? How many pages did that reach? How many people were going in there asking why the heck we deserved it? We stated many, many reasons why we should be considered a combat support profession if not a combat profession. Some may have seen that as whining.

So what do we do? Go back to complaining on every forum possible in a loud shrill whining voice just to get people to hate us for even trying? We don't have the numbers, heck even the Smugglers are complaining in every thread they can find and still aren't fixed yet. We don't have half their numbers and we're far too content to just chill here in any case.
The simple fact is: The only way we would get attention is by luck or whining only achieved by an entire 300 page whinefest dedicated to our cause. Personally I doubt even that would get us attention for a revamp, just more excuses, so I'm more content just waiting it out.

Ok, maybe I should have placed "not caring when we get our revamp."
I apoligize, and will edit my original post, since that single word makes a big difference. You guys just seem to watch other professions getting their good changes with "oh, good for them" attitudes, but I don't know how much more of that I could take.
That doesn't really change anything. If I had my druthers, we'd get a revamp today. Heck, if I was running things, we'd have gotten changes a while ago. I'm not in charge, and I certainly care about Ranger getting a revamp sooner rather than later. All I've said here is that there is no proof DEs will see changes before us. SLs are more than likely next in line, and the changes for DE have no timeframe on them. If I could, I would make Rangers next after them. But what you fail to realize is there simply aren't enough of us to cause a massive change.
The problem here is that you're assuming things about me. First of all, your assumptions are wrong, which is part of the problem here. Second of all, you have no right to assume anything about anybody, especially negative things, like "not caring". Third, your not even using logical reasoning to make your assumptions. People aren't acting as angry as you. That doesn't mean anything about their personal beliefs. Perhaps they're more in control, perhaps they simply view anger as a bad way to get changes. You have no right or reason to assume how much or why a person cares about something.
I don't always agree with you, but up until very recently, I've respected you a lot. What you've done here today has seriously gone hurt that.

Yeah, but that thread did NOTHING. The devs never responded to the complaints. What they did respond to was posts that made good points (some of them in forums most people couldn't see)In the end, it was rational posts from vorpaks, Owen and Calc that got stuff done. There was never a responce to the whinning. I know because I was one of the people whinning. I complained in every thread I could. All it got me was a locked thread from GarVa. What got us that CL increase? Rational posts. What got us the increase to harvesting at Master? Hard numbers. What has whinning gotten us? NOTHING.
Which do you think will get us changes?
That is what concerns me. Either someone did ask questions and no one remembers or has documentation, or no one asked about it at all.

one quick thing to keep in mind about these q/a meetings with the devs is that the results produced are only as good as the questions asked. So, my question is, did anyone ask about ranger? If no one asked about ranger, then the devs probably wouldn't have addressed it.

And all we have to speculate on is someone's summary of a fanfest event. From what I gathered, their statements were summarized from the "Red name" statements at that event.

Yet, there is no redname post stating that DE is getting a revamp...
This whole thread borders on pointless. Anyone who's actually read my posts lately would know that Im among the least happy with the state of ranger, but some posts are good and some are bad. Fact of the matter is that theres no way we can guarantee any sort of action by the devs on ranger, and posting along the lines of we didn't get whats coming to us is only going to drive a wedge into our community. My take is to post ideas and suggestions about the possibility of the future of ranger, not because I actually believe the devs are going to read my posts and say... wow... this guy is a genius.... but because it helps us to focus together as a community on what we want and what we dont want, things we can agree on and discuss as opposed to getting angry after every (inevitable) time we get looked over.
Humbly Id say that without all my rampant posting going on we might not have opened our eyes to the fact that our one and only role since day one (creature harvester) is now so totally redundant as to be nearly useless and unwanted. This gives us an opportunity to come together and say... do we want to suggest ways to get that role back? Or maybe find a new role that all rangers can rally behind? On a personal level Id say that I now believe all the potential that camps have in this game will never be realized as long as they are held by the ranger profession. That is still a matter of debate, which I welcome, but to start saying that we will never get what we deserve is both self defeating and devisive.
While I agree that the majority on this forum do not take many things seriously, Id say that that is neither here nor there. I have made many posts regarding what I thought were some great ideas but soon those posts fell by the wayside of the many anti-clothing item threads... I dont take it personally, and I certainly dont think that many thought of my ideas as bad, rather I take it as a general apathy regarding our relationship with the devs, thinking why would we look at ideas and talk about them when no one will do anything about it anyway...? Do I wish that more rangers would take these matters seriously enough to start talking about them? Absolutely, but Im not about to try to stir them up with, "we're not getting anything again", because I want their opinions and not their anger.
Guys, you're arguing over something we have no control over and we all want. The only thing that is going to happen is to create animosity between one another. Please just let it go about when, what, or how we get a revamp.
I know morale is a little low around here right now, but this is the Ranger board. We're better than letting this get to us.

Well said. And stuff.
There are a lot of utterly broken proffessions.
Let's see...
Ranger
Squad keader
Commando
Droid engineers are next to useless.
Architecs
Smugglers
They all need attention, they need INDIVIDUAL attention though, not a once over. If you need proof, look what happened to Commando's from the CU....

Who is to say that thread accomplished nothing? They may have simply read over it without responding. Just because they didn't respond doesn't mean they didn't want to. They could have been given specific instructions on what they could or could not say, and what issues they could make responses regarding. There was never a response by Devs, but how often did people get Dev responses back then anyways? Only recently have the lines of communication been opened up. And, there is no way to determine for a fact what got us the CL increase, until a Dev or someone who made those changes states anywhere "this is what got you the CL increase." "Mad props" to Owen and Calc for their efforts nonetheless, as I saw how Owen was keeping us updated regarding his Correspondent Forum thread and Calc was making sure he did what he could as our Blue Glowie.
I am personally not sure that anything will get us changes. Whining and nothing have both had results, but I would rather put forth effort which results in "whining" to obtain that which I believe we are due.
I'll look for it once the search function is available again
