As a master Ranger and very close to master pistoleer, I cannot wait for our profession to get better and better. Thanks for the report and your dilligence. I cannot add or subtract from what you said to make it better.

Also the Mil. Ranger/ Park Ranger/ Aragorn Ranger Ideas have already been posted as elite elite ideas. If they ever happen, I will have a hard time choosing just one.

Thanks Nraas

Nrass, Good Job on this but I am a little confused on the 2 of the 3 models for Rangers.

Military Type is obvious and one I do not agree with.

The confusion is with what are the differences between the Park Ranger and the Aragorn Ranger?

From our class skills, I see a the Ranger as the ulitimate Hunter, Trapper and Killer of Wild Beasts. Also as a class that thrives in the wild, from our Survival tree.

Its too bad that we are not best at hunting and killing of wild beasts but thats where I see this class.

Is that what you are calling the Aragorn type Ranger? If so I think it needs a little fleshing out in the explanation.

Now the Park Ranger model. What exactly does that entail? A real Park Ranger makes sure people do not litter and protects the animals from hunters. I thought we were the hunters?

A fantastic job NRaas! One of the most comprehensive and professional SOP's on the boards!

I'm actually planning on dropping my wayfaring skills as my chosen template nears completion and will just keeping Frontiering IV and Tracking IV. I love being a ranger and if just a quarter of these idea's get implemented I'll be dropping skills left and right to make room for Master!

Well done, keep up the good work!

Making ranger elite elite professions for those three types would take up too many SP. We'd have the same problem as BH with the lack of ability to master any other profession, which would be disastrous for those rangers not of the military group, due to lack of combat skills. Additionally, i don'tthink brand new professions are likely to be implemented.

However, why not reformat the ranger profession so that each branch reflects a different view? Trapping could turn into military ranger skills, and have some more combat moves, and NPC and PC traps. Wayfaring could turn into the park ranger branch, and Tracking into the Aragorn-type branch (with the possible addition of much better bonuses against creatures to either of these lines, as there is, in my opinion, less distinction between them.) Frontiering would become a sort of overall line for all three branches, as all of them need the ability to survive in the wilderness.

Actually, that is a really cool idea.

  • I don't know how feasible it is... But it is really cool none the less.

So, are we getting any responses from the devs or other SoE folks on your requests?

Looks like it's all going into a black hole right now.

You rock NRaas! Along with all the other corespondents we've had who've contributed to this list.I really need to hit the ranger forum more but, really, there's not too many thingsI can't 'work around' for the time being. Mind you i haven't spent the SPs in conceal yet, and traps-bleh...some work well but just not enough there to make me always craft them. I'll wait on implementation of new ones.

Here's my biggest needs:

Camps:

High Tech Field Base needs to stay up(we all know what it takes to get it, we should be generously rewarded). Along w/all camps to repell creatures-totally unforgivable. Also, our crafting stations are no longer usefull with everybody using their droids in place of them. Either we need them to be uber or give us something in their place(mission terminals:smileysurprised. Lastly, I love the ideas for ideas for other camp things(cabin&stash)

Harvesting:

Good ideas, all of them. Also, make sure we get at least more than ONE unit harvests. I know this is resource shift thing but please try to iron this out in the future. Harvesting is our livelyhood-being rangers we lose a lot of business having to wait.

Gameplay:

Prone Warping! Need I say more? I will. I'm pistoleer now because of damage type range. I've been wanting to switch to rifleman for a long time-being I'm Bothan and get bonus to 'take cover'. To utilize that I need to be prone!!

That's all for now. Thanks again NRrass, keep it up.

"Looks like it's all going into a black hole right now."

Even Black Holes emita form of radiation.

I agree, it may look like our requests are not being answered.

  • But our profession was actually hit early in this development cycle

  • We received /conceal and /areatrack for our patience

Alas, we will need to wait while the other professions under GreenMarine's wing receive some much needed love.

  • Eventually the focus will return to us, and once again we will be shining.

In the meantime, we need to get our issues in order...

  • So that the developers can jump right into the mix whenour turn arrives.

Thanks very much for all your hard work Nraas

And I know it seems like its all going into a big black hole, but its not. Its just going to take me a little time to get all this onto paper. Im working overdrive to get it done though

There really is a big internal push to get these issues addressed and I am kind of on the front line right now. There are other ways for the team to see issues like the CSR's and stuff, but the forums are an important source of information and we want to make sure we get it all.

For all the Rangers, NRaas does a great job.

"my only beef with ranger was that my architect friend outfishes me"

Well...

When the developers initially added fishing, it was meant to a a cool little mini-game.

  • But it seems to have expanded into something much larger than originally intended.

I am sure the developers will tie in a skill related to fishingeventually... Hopefully in our profession.

I would 1st like to say that I love atleast seeing SOMETHING now & again on our profession even if its negative this way I know its beeing atleast looked at.

That being said, I only have one real discrepancy on that entire list.

  • Request for an Evac Camp

    • The camp would deploy with a shuttle service that could transport people back to a city port
    • It would not be necessary to have people able to go to the camp, though that would a welcome addition if possible

  • Isn't this a faction thing (to be/possability)?

Now, Mind You I am a ranger (4,4,3,1/3) and I love the big tents, But don't we have enuff of em allready?

And doesn't this just waste time that could be used on other problems especially since this type of service is meant to be a Faction Purk!?!?
