This XP could help you get CH if you wanted to dabble, or perhaps SL (which requires scouting XP to get it's initial block, right?). Likewise, if you decide to experiment and drop Ranger, it's a quick leg back when you realize you screwed up. Also, you can help other people to master ranger by dropping your Master and a few levels to let them train you up (careful not to drop too much, though!) again, giving them AP.

And you have to love how it seems so EASY to get XP once you master.... It seems to come in spades once you don't need it anymore..... irritating.......

The sad thing is...when you start surrendering boxes, you lose stored xp.

When I went from master ranger and maxed out in every form of xp i could accumulate, I came back to novice scout and filled my first 2 boxes

leaving me a long road ahead for my eventual re-mastery of ranger

Yeah, I am still trying to figure out how that works. I still have 900k Heavy Weapons XP saved up from BH, but don't even have marksman anymore. My bud's theory (probably derived from the forums) is that you keep the xp until you do something that affects it...i.e. Training. Training a skill related to that xp resets the cap. This may or may not work on all kinds of xp as I am sure that I never lost combat xp (after training a related skill) when I went from marksman to TKA. There is probably a good place to find this information, but I haven't been there yet.

Here is my experience

Master Pistoleer 300k xp of combat xp.

dropped all pistoleer skills at the same time. The next thing i killed after I had trained in novice brawler i got a message

"you have lost #### of combat xp"

since the brawler line doesnt rely on combat xp as does marksman, When I hit novice TKA I had about 125k combat xp or close to it stored up. I was able to immediatly train in tka 0.0.0.2

The past day, I dropped TKA down to 2.0.0.4. This allowed me to go up the 2 handed sword line and I maintained my 300k combat xp. When I hit novice swordsman, I trained up to 0.0.0.3.

No loss of combat xp, no more working for what I have already done.

If I remember correctly you can save up to 160k of scouting xp in the ranger columns at a level 4 skill in either wayfaring or tracking. When you drop to either a 3 or below in both trees, your max level of xp storage is reset to the next lowest level and you get a message next time you do something that would accumulate xp.
