FYI: I bought a hunting chestplate last night and some Black Mountain bracers (on TC). They. Are. BADASS! Wookiees would buy this just for the looks, even if it did nothing! I DO feel rather top-heavy with those huge horns on though. I'm at work - when I get home I'll edit this email with some pictures I took of myself. (I will also edit it with the stats, which to my shame I cant remember. Hunting was around 75/40 I think and BM was around 70/20)

EDITED:

At first I was afraid. I was petrified.
When I saw what the vendor was wearing I almost cried. They made it PINK???

Phew! Much cooler colors.
Thankfully the ones for sale were a little less overt. Later I got some leggings that were 55 base and 75 special. THe bracers I bought of the Black Mountain armor were 29 base, 70 special.

I am so Badass
The first of many screenies I took admiring my new self.

Hunting on Tat
More screenies.

Me and my piece-meal armor collection.
Yep. Still admiring myself.

I look very weird because of the combo I'm wearing. Because of availablity and the fact I didnt have enough cash I am wearing the Hunting chestplate, the Black Mountain Bracers, and the Ceremonial Leggings. I sorta resemble a scrap-heap lol. All the pieces I am wearing I could equip without buffs. We'll see if I can equip a full suit of Hunting without buffs or stat migration.

The difference between armored and unarmored was marked. While raising the cash to purchase the armor I was doing um... swarming dewback (?) missions. Two animals out of the lair at a time. I have rifles four and unfortunately don't have the training for my sticky traps yet. I would head shot one down to about half its mind before they would both notice and run over to me. I would get the first one down to almost dead before I incapped. After I got up I would heal (yeah camps lol) and finish off the first one and get the second down to half mind before it would notice and run over. Sometimes I could finish it, sometimes it would incap me.

WITH the armor I could finish off both animals when they moticed me and only get down to half health. It was very nice. I look forward to seeing what a full suit of hunting can do for me.

Bugs: If you are wearing the hunting armor when you log out you will crash when logging back in. The work around for this right now is to turn of the Vertex pixel... rendering? Thats not the right word, but you can do it, what ever it is, from the Option menu on the Launchpad. I am assuming this will be patched before it goes to live. Other than that I haven't noticed any of the weird graphic glitches the ceremonial armor had. We'll see what happens with a full suit.

The artwork for the hunting is absolutely amazing. I call it badass because that is what three seperate people told me on seperate occasions when they saw me running around. I tell you, a male wookiee at full muscle/torso is going to look like a Gorax in this thing. It is SICK! Oh. For some reason mine has bright pink feathers on the top. I don't know if the coloring is an option. I think it is, because the suit the vendor was wearing looked thoroughly pink and purple all over, which frightened me at first. However, my suit was reasuringly green and tan... except for those neon pink and purple feathers (dant camo anyone?).

The Black Mountain armor was also very cool. I had to laugh at the back though. It has a wire-mesh grate right over the butt. What that is for I am not even going to guess at here. The bracers I have look awesome. They have feathery ties that stick out at the elbows and are a hard olive and brown shade. Like I said, even if this armor did nothing, I would wear it just for looks. If wookiee clothes looked like this I wouldn't run around naked all the time.

When I stated what a very happy wookiee I was on the TCPA chat there were a lot of disgruntled comments about how wookiees have such an advantage now yadda yadda yadda. I am going to have to work on leveling my human character to composite wearing level so I can truly compare. If it IS a big advantage over other races maybe the devs are thinking that thee planetary specific resource requirements/organic requirements will keep the quality down and the availablity of really good quality armor down. Time will tell.

They need to change that Dant avian requirement. The only reason it's available at all is because someone screwed up and made a lizard with avian bone.

The funny thing is that a lot of the armorsmiths are bitching that Rangers must have requested armor with so many organics. Even as a wook, I'm not thrilled with the new armor (maybe MORESO because I'm a wook?)

The simple fact is that the price of hide would be much lower if it were as readily available as minerals.

To the guy that said the hunting armour wouldn't be as good as composite armour.

I've gota full set of each armour now. My hunting armour was created with 80% kinetic resistance and 62% base resistence, and the health encumbrance was 262 on the chest plate, Which I think really out-does composite. After having got the whole suit sliced, I have *just* enough constitution to wear it. I have 650 constitution, but when I wear the full suit, it plummets down to just 6

I'm a rifleman, so I tend to take it off while I'm sniping under cover. However I put all four parts as tool bar buttons, so if I get aggro'd I can slip the suit on really quick. While I'm solo hunting I use the hunting armour, but while I'm hunting with company I switch to Black Mountain.

I carry all three types with me, the suit in use goes in my inventory, and the other two are stored in my "mouse" storage droid to save them from death penalties, along with 98.6% repair tool

I didn't use buffs or uber armour, so why did the combat revamp have to spoil my game?

hey - that's really good :-)

The talk on the AS forum was that because so much wood was being used instead of metal, and the stats on wood are gated diferently, they were expecting the overal quality of the armours to be less than their equivalent non-wookie armour.

Seems like the stats are just as good, and I personally think it looks cool !!
