In a balanced game you are supposed to lose when outnumbered unless the 2 are quite clueless and/or you very good , this example is a non-issue too.

YES, Rangers are getting a HUGE shaft on this. BUT..at least we aren't being nerfed. Did you read about Dr's and Medics? They are loosing their ability to craft their own healing supplies. So now they have to go to a BE to buy their equipment.

Think about it, every Master Dr who is buffing people in the game now has to go PAY someone else for the buffs and stims. That means a) the price of buffs will go up, and b) since the amount of BE's are low (at least on sunrunner they are) it means they will also be rare.

Meaning for those of us who don't get to make alot of money being a Ranger..we're gonna start living in the poor house if we want to have any fun.

Doc's are getting the shaft all-round anyways. 10%buffs? HA

and now that they can't craft anything..........well, i'll probably never ever use a doc. i'll use my crappy stims, and if i have a wound, i'll pop a HTFB

Is it?

Consider oppposite view... 1 TKM and 2 rifleman... picture it? Now think hard...

OW and also... is the term considering DB only used in PvP ??? Or also PvE? In latter form, the rifleman will have a huge problem going up against NPC mobs

Doc changes have not been tested yet so we dont know what it will be like. I know its not perfect but hopefully there will be a range of low power buffs that can be used in combat (such as short term buffs) to use.

I defy anyone who says this game is better off with powerfull buffs.

hehe you've never PvPed have you? This won't change PvE one bit.

DB is the same as when a NPC walks up to you and sends you the the cloner, "You have been slain by..."

Indeed, proud of it too, I never been in PvP

That latter part I understand. It's the other part that worries me: can a rifleman shoot/kill a NPC at range or is that considered DB (with the NEW system). I know how the old one works, but regarding the CU document, NPC AI and things will be based on the same restrictions as players.

As far as I can recall, I've never been DB'ed (as such) by a RANGED NPC fighter. They always walk up to do the DB...

If that is now also becoming the case for PvE... then a rifleman will get a hard time.

Eh I very much doubt they will implement DB for PvE.

I've never had a ranged NPC DB me from a distance either.

Don't be so sure... From a programmers point of view, the reuse of code and also not needing to check wether PvP/PvE is quite tempting... Reuse is ok, but to handle Rifleplayer vs NPC different from Rifleplayer vs Player might be more work then they want to do.

If the new combat engine is "universal" (for all situations, PvP/PvE/EvE) then this check will not be made!

2 riflemen wouldmow down a TKM. Once the TKM is incapped (remember that there will still be incapacitation), the rifleman can run up and get the DB. No, this doesn't necesarily work in a big fight, but in a 2 on 1 situation, the TKM is hosed.

Now, seeing what I have seen of the CU documents, do I want to be a Master Rifleman and only travel with another Master Rifleman? No way. You would certainly want a crowd control or mezzer partner.

Wrong... Guess you never been a TKM...?

According to the CU they have high def and high off, which makes them formidable against rifleman who don't have def at all.

Second, unless that skill is taken away, the TKM has PowerOfWill... Even if incapped he can regain conciousness almost instantly and have a bit more health, combine with a shot of the healing and unless the riflemen are prepared, they find themselves in melee range with a TKM...

Ow and WHY would I now want to party with another rifleman? Why would I not want to party with another rifleman? In fact DaveG (MR/MRifleman) and we did this quite often. So if/whenever we go PvP we have a disadvantage... More reason for me to stay out of PvP. In PvE we kind of rule the creatures.
Just my .2c

I was disappointed to see zero role for Ranger there. The only thing keeping me from whining is that maybe it means we'll finally get our due when we get our revamp.

We... We *are* getting one. Right?

We're combat related, too. Rescue, anyone? ...anyone? No? Okay. How about traps?

When I read this upgrade, it sounds... Very GCW-oriented. I can't imagine that's really such a large bulk of the game that it needs to be focused on it, though. Heck, the thing about melee range to Deathblow sounds veryPVP. Are we sure that it's not meant to be just in PVP situations? Are they really going to make it so a rifleman HAS to walk up to what he's incapped to kill it? What sniper worth his/her salt can't get a kill shot in from 50m?

I'd really like some confirmation on whether the DB/melee range thing is for PVP, PVE/GCW, or regular PVE.

And the fact that Smuggler is being turned into a true combat profession and we're being 100% ignored in that thing will probably stick in my craw later, for now, I'm just hoping that we'll be added... After much thought and analysis... With a good upgrade...
