Thread: An idea for a ranger / merchant / droid engineer revamp

I mostly like the idea. It certainly would help me, and anything that helps DE's is a good idea at this point. The one slightmisgiving about it is that it removes yet another way in which players can distinguish themselves from others. Right now a chef for example is able to distinguish himself/herself from other chefs mainly by putting in a lot of effort into surveying and making sure they are always using the best stuff that a particular server shift has to offer. The other "ah hell, I'll just go see what swgcraft.com says is on my planet" type of players do fine, but with that less effort comes less reward, they'll miss things and jump on shifts too late, and this will show up in their products. Such a proposal obviously diminishes the advantage that the vigilent surveyer has over their more lazy counterparts. So I dunno, I have kind of mixed feelings about it (I'm very much one of the "lazy" ones btw, lol).

I think I can speak for all the Rangers when I say thanks for the compliments but our "solutions" to date haven't gotten us very far. Perhaps you should seek the support ofthe forum that has an abundance of flamers and whiners, they seem to get all the attention...

I think you guys are misunderstanding what im trying to say

The ranger / merchant would go to a specific planet and use a droid to do a scan. The report generated from the scan would only include the resource type and its statistics. It would not be showing where specific resource concentrations are since thats the surveyors job for the inorganics. The ones that would be able to use these scan droids would be the merchant (inorganic) and ranger(organic). This report in turn could be sold to whoever is interested.

So lets say a potential customer contacts a merchant / ranger and asks them to be put on the update list. The ranger adds them, much like the friends list, and the customer would have to pay a fee designated by the merchant / ranger to recieve updates on current shifts.

Sorry, simple as I can make it
