wish you guys would keep this at the top so our correspondent can see it
Try sending Calc an email and asking him to look at this, instead of bumping it.

How it works is that a DE makes a disposable, one-time usage "scan" droid. These droids can be used by both merchants and rangers to scan planets for the current resources and their stats. Merchants would get inorganic and rangers would get organic. This information in turn could be sold to anyone interested. Anyone who's been crafting for a while knows that swgcraft.com is very helpful but isnt 100% reliable.
This is a quality idea, one of the things I hate doing but need to do is find a new resource if something shifts and this can sometimesbe a costly and time consuming process as you generally have to search across the galaxy for a replacement for a shifted resource..
The idea of having it tied into the ranger skill tree is an excellent idea and would give us a sense of individuality as we would be the only ones able to use these "scan" droids to locate the organic resource stats. This could be one of the advantages that sets us apart from a scout..
When you talk about selling the information on to others , you could perhaps have the data retrieved by the droid able to be stored in a datapad/droid datapad because my current method of /note ing everything down is a pain but necessary due to my awful memory. Obviously time and date stamped , because I am terrible for keeping junk in my droids for weeks on end..
All in all I would say that if I had the option to buy a crate and using one would list all of the of the organic resource information for a single planet I would buy it!.. No doubt about it.. All I can see here is benefit to our profession,DE will benefit from the extra custom and we will benefit with a bonus over other professions and also a reduction in the time it takes to locate new sources of high grade organics after a resource shift.
I'm sure there are negative aspects I havent thought of , but the one negative aspect would be that if this were to somehow impact on the devs looking into our profession based on what the community has been talking about and giving us some love then it should wait until hell freezes over... Otherwise that's a definate winner for me.
love the idea. Would save a lot of time trying to find out if there is anything worth harvesting. And devs seem to be fond of professions depending on each other.

totally one hundred percent dis agree i hope this dosent happen. Then people who have harvesters would have a lot less of a challenge makeing money the whole point is for it to be difficult. i think it would be making the game too easy though it would be handy maybe limit its power some how ..... i dunno just sounds off to me.
I disagree with u
well when you put it like that 777
