Sorry all you combat rangers out there, I understand your point, but that is blatantly not the focus of Ranger - even if it worked as it was supposed to. I would lobby for a seperate class, maybe one of those new 'elite elite' classes that have been bandied about. Make Antarian ranger require you to do Ranger and Commando maybe, then you could have an uber fighting class with things like people traps, sneaking, field command bases that have turrets, whatever. In fact I would even join that class, but that isn't what the current Ranger class is all about, and I can't see them giving us PVP attributes, any more than they would to an Image designer.

Why can't traps be used on humans? Is their skin tougher than a rancor's? What about their constitution? What is it that makes these hairless monkeys imune to my traps? As far as I'm concerned, traps are just specials that require you to craft something to use it. An attack that dizzies your opponent is no different than a trap that does the same. Why limit our specials to creatures only? Is my Adhesive Mesh just not sticky enough? I don't think the BH is here necessarily asking for a BH specific trap. He just wants traps to work on humanoids. And it makes sense that they should. If the Devs need a gameplay reason why scouts should be able to affect humanoids with traps, BH is a reason. BHs need scout as a prereq. BHs specialize in killing humanoids. And yet they gain half of their experience by killing animals? And it's not like traps are overpowered or something right now. I can see traps that work on NPCs actually being a reason for people to pick up scout or ranger (anyone know of a use for dizzying a creature?). But whatever.

Ok, just to be clear here. I don't actually object to the concept of Ranger traps affecting things other than creatures. If they do they do, if they don't they don't, the argument of 'it's logical' applies to so much within the game it's just pointless. I can't share residence of a house with my wife, even though it's logical, brandy doesn't make me drunk, but it's logical it should, Rebels happily build their base right next to an Imperial capitol on Tatooine, no logic there. Logic is not exactly a big facet of this game, and arguing logic with the devs is like arguing colours to a blind man - they just don't get it. So saying traps should logically affect people too, well yes - don't see it happening though.

The more general issue of what class a Ranger is has already been decided by the devs before beta even started - it's creature orientated. Any enhancements should be, and almost certainly will be, to creature harvesting, creature trapping etc.Ican see the argument for a ranger-class commando, I would even like to be one, but that is not whatWE are or ever will be, and if you're waiting for that to happen, I think you'll wait a long time. That is why I suggest anyone wanting to make shirts takes an artisan skill, anyone who wants to dance take a entertaining skill, and anyone who wants to PVP takes a combat skill - anyone who wants to be a wilderness survival expert - be a ranger. There's logic for you.

No just their intelligence.

Rangers are wilderness people. Creatures are supposed to be our speciality IMHO.

BH's focus on the Players/NPC's

We would need different traps to affect humanoids.

Do hunters set a bear trap to catch a criminal IRL?

No they dont.

First, i'll Agree in part.....How often Does a Hunter go after a Criminal? Not very often, that is certainly the uncontested domain of the BH.

Now to my point, If a Criminal Should Cross The Hunter in the wild, Tavern, Or Hunters Lodge and the hunter happen to have his Trusty Bear trap with him *snicker* Would it not work Effectivly against the Criminal just as well as it works against the bear? Shoot If anything the Bear trap would be more effective against the Criminal then the bear(Chop His leg of! Club him over the head with it! ), however have an arguably higher/Lower sucess rate because the Criminal is smarter/Dumber then the Bear.

to Expand Further, How often Does a BH use Simple traps to catch a Criminal? They don't(usualy), they use an Elaborate Set of circumstances that "trap" their marks into makeing One Critical mistake...Or they Just Kill them outright....

Why not? I think that we should be able to throw our traps at whatever we happen to be fighting at the time. It would be nice to slow things down, or blind them, stun them with traps. If the BHs want to use ranger traps against creatures, then they need to spend the skill points to get the ranger trapping line. Seems fair to me!!! Jango Fett used a dart to kill the shapeshifter on Coruscant, once Obi-Wan and Anakin had caught her.

But I concour. It was probably a mistake for you to leave the BH forums and come here. You've gotten a ton of stuff you guys wanted, and now you're trying to get traps? Go away, please. BH's are an entirely different class- in style of play, members, and maturity. You hunt people. If you can't use your uber lightning cannon to kill people, why do you need traps to do so? I'd recommend taking up a master weapon profession to help, maybe?

I do not disagree that Rangers should be able to use traps on humans. He11, I was one of the first to ask to allow us to trap pets - the anti-CH balance thread.

I do disagree that BHs, by virtue of being Master Scouts, should get the same ability. That is one overpowered, but not to well thought out, profession. Why is it BHs want to be uber, but never want to spend any skill points to do it?? Instead they want to incorporate stuff into the feeder professions so they can leech and get stuff free - then stand around and say - "But it makes (profession) stronger". As Mad Max (not Mel, the one on John Boy and Billy) says -My aching butt. Not to take anything away from Scout, but it is a basic/feeder profession. It should be far weaker in comparision to Ranger than it is. Don't weaken Scout however, make Rangers have some real skills.

If anything, let Ranger trap humanoids and players at the Master level. Sorry dabblers. Let box 3 and 4 allow Rangers to trap pets in PvP, using both Scout and Ranger traps.

I firmly think that tostymie dabblers, more things have to be made interdependent - getting one tree should not give you the full benefits without also getting other boxes in other trees.

And before you ask - my only dabble is in Medic, I am a novice with enough pts left for one box, and that box doesn't change much. And I could lose that box and not miss it. But I have 4 points left over, so they had to go someplace and my other 3 professions are mastered.

tons of stuff.since launch...Bounty marks have been bugged..white marks..mark in waters..marks in walls ,NO marks,etc...only in the last 2 publishes has this BEGUN to be resolved...its still an issue plaguing lower level BH.

uber LLC?...after a few months of having crap..it was upgraded...only to work within 18m or so....its far from being a one hit wonder.....and its ACC is horrible...especially in pvp, with comp armor's high elec. resistance making LLC almost non existant in pvp

as for taking up a master combat class....MBH unfortunanetly do not have that luxury due to SP's. i agree...i dont see why we need scout..brawler would have been better....allowing us to choose a supplimenal combat class wouldve been best.

and finally..the big point..aside from the horribly bugged jedi bounty system..we have NO ONE to hunt (and jedi bounty are far from commonplace)

i didnt come to this board to argue about taking something u deserve and addiing it to BH...your class needs attention....i was just looking on info to pick up tracking IV.....but please dont make it seem like we are SOE's golden child. we're not.

p.s. i dont want traps....a poison dart rifle with different ammo/status is all id need

This is the Strongest argument i've Heard yet On why we need to be Buffed

As for the BH Poison Dart riffle....Why? Rangers, Combat medics, AND Scouts have all been asking for this since Day one....What makes you think BH's should be the First to get something like this? I hate to say it, but isn't your profession strong enough already? You have the BEST KD in the game, Among the Highest Raw damage outputs, Gain all the benifits of Master scout without feeling guilty for spending the points on it andHave Special Content Devoted Entierly to you...ect....Whats more to want? I've heard requests for :

People traps

Incorperated medic

Meditate

Additional Terrain negotiation

Tracking

Poisons

Heh, That sounds like a Flame....Whoops, Not my intent.

Best i can Suggest is to Push for Scout traps to Affect Humans on your OWN forum and then by Virtue of our common roots in that profession we will BOTH benifit. Then if you want to Go one step further, Dable(its ok, Everyone does it to some extent)in ranger a Bit then Push for ranger traps to get a BIG boost...As a Ranger, not a Bountyhunter

BH has the scout trapping line to use traps from. At the elite profession level, a Ranger has continued to devote his time to camping and trapping, while a BH has not. BH has no justification for any traps besides the ones it recieves at scout level.
