Thread: NRaas, possible clue for investigating Mask Scent for Rangers
I was scanning the Dev tracker, and I read one on a pistaleer post. Part of the post from Holo made me instantly think about the effectivness issues some Rangers, including me, have noticed with mask scent. Specifically that it does not seem to work as well as a novice scout, especially when grouped with novice scouts. The quote below was talking about the pistal speed bonus that is gained through marksman and then further gained in Pistaleer. The problem seems to be that the pistaleers do not appear to be havnig the effect of the bonus over marksman.
"These do not scale properly from marksman to master pistoleer. They seem to "turn off" as you fight more difficult creatures.
Solution:
This is a global problems with our defensive rolls (passive post-hit moves). The mods for controlling this do not scale at the same rate as the toHit rolls of your enemies. We are gradually increasing these bonuses to make them more useful. However, we are adding to these rolls slowly to avoid major disruption if we mess up our calculations."
NRaas, maybe this is something you could talk with Greenmarine about? Just a thought.
Delta, I am amazed by your post. I have never seen you that smallminded before to judge a person's opinion or courageby the number of posts they have posted.
And I do not agree with your assessment. It doesNOT save me time having to go to another and private forum to see the information compiled. That is what stickies are for.
And yes, "I do not mean to attack you.." is a dumb intro, but I am trying to relay the "feeling" that I am not trying to be hostile, and it is not personal, butI am not comfortable withthe way the way "business" is being handled, enough from bringing me from lurker status to post status. And my respect goes to Nrass to the way he responded
Funny, you should mention manners: Maybe you should post and read less, actually step away from the keyboard , get some fresh air. Yes, you are the scout correspondent (and you are good it,I give you that), and yes, you have 1825 posts (a testament of how much time you spend time on the boards - where do you find time to actually play the game?), but you need to step off.
I did expect some fanboi to flame me for that post;just you were one of the few I did not expect it from lol
have a nice day![]()

If you want Delta to like you I would take this off your sig. LOL
j/k
ROFL, I think it is too late for Delta to like me hehe
So, he has a problem with CH. That must be an interesting story
Please tell us Delta!
Actually, come to think of t, I never liked CH too much either. Seeing a player running around with 3 rancors was screaming:"D00D, I am k00l (and obviously compensating)" , but then the big CH nerf came along, and as ranger I was very fond of my companion, my friend, my gurreck, so I went along the CH route, and got soo much pleasure tracking, hunting and taming, that I found myself being a Maser CH before I knew it.
I'd just like to say that list of the current state of Ranger is the most informative thing I've read on this... er... not on this forum.

Nraas:
Thank you for all the effort and hard work you put in the SotP thread.
I dont find one (or two) mouse clicks either difficult or time consuming. Sometimes the hard work it not appresiated, but it is now. Thanks again, and if you ever happen by on Wanderhome, let me know if you need anything.

Et,
I wasn't talking about your courage. I was talking about how you decided to attack your correspondent for doing something that obviously took a lot of time and effort and was done for your benefit, not his. It's not like he's making money off having another site up.
You tried to relay that what you were saying wasn't "hostile" but why don't you go back there and read what you wrote again? It was pretty hostile. It was hostile enough that it pissed me off - and that takes a lot. Like you said, I'm usually not that "smallminded".

Perhaps I should continue to post, as I enjoy it, and I've helped a lot of people. I get plenty of fresh air. Where I find time to play is interesting - it just happens. I play three or four hours a night still. And that's with a job with a heavy time commitment, grad school, etc. And how does one exactly "step off"?
If you are going to "de-lurk", do it for a better reason than to slam someone who's trying to help you.
I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but hey - I'm stubborn.

Wow...
OK, Etzel, your first post to NRaas was a little hostile, but I understand you trying to "politly" get your concern/point across. I tend to do the same thing. You must have definately pissed Delta off, because I don't think he's ever replied like that to anyone. That I have read.
Delta, a little harsh, epsecially for you. I have gotten myself in trouble writing an email while mad, and hitting send. I have learned to write my emails, then leave it go do something else, and come back to it later. Go through it after cooling down. That's how I "step off". ![]()
Lets get back to the point of this post, of ideas at what might be "giving the perception" of Mask scent not working for Rangers. I say "giving the perception" because of all the different experiences with it, and not getting any real evidence with it.
Delta and NRaas, I do appologize, this probably should have been put in the Scout forum, it dealing with Mask Scent. But, the reason I put it here, is because the issue is mask scent for Rangers specifically, not mask scent in general. Thus I posted it here. But since GreenMarine, works on both scout and ranger, hey, its all good.
I'm willing, and I'm sure others would as well, to help the devs track this down. If they would like some specific tests, trials etc done by players, just let us know. We will do our best.
Again, I make the suggestion that Test Center allow people to make a character at any level, filling in any skills. This would allow people to make advanced character to test changes made for advanced characters. People, myself included, don't want to play a character to that level on test center, especially when it might get totally wiped at any time. Just a suggestion

- I do understand the reasons behind posting on the Ranger forum.
- You needn't apologize, Mask Scent is just as important to the Ranger community as it is the Scout community. ![]()
- There is a fine grey line between our two professions that several issues seem to cross (/maskscent and /forage come to mind).
- Since DeltaXi65 seems to read both forums, you are probably safe posting issues concerning Scout starter skills, as they apply to Rangers, on this forum.
- However, you may get more response from the Scout forum. ![]()
Guys,
Between the hurricane knocking out my power,my computer crapping the bed and requiring me ten hours of reconfiguring, and me not being able to play, I'm a bit on edge. ![]()
I apologize for the previous tone of my posts.
I'll be back to normal once I get this stuff straightened out.

Oh man, Delta, sorry to hear about the computer, I totally understand (working in IT and all). Keep that PC safe and well.
Oh, and keep you and yours safe too. ![]()
