Squid,

I'll talk to Green about it. NRaas has his hands full with Ranger stuff, he doesn't need to be doing my Scout stuff too.

"I'll talk to Green about it"

- DeltaXi65 is a much more proactive Coorespondent than I could ever be.

- I would never consider forcing an issue...

- We know that the developers read their respective forums, so I consider it my job to focus his attention on relevant issues and threads.

-The Scoutingcommunity is much larger, and far more... how should I say... reactive.

- I admire DeltaXi65 for hisapproach, but I could personally never be that bold.

----

- I'm a software developer myself, and I find I work better with the issues laid out in a clean, well organized, system... Calls from my users do bring higher priority issues to the fore front faster, but they also disrupt my concentration.

For Delta and Nraas,

I have a couple of posts in regards of testing Mask Scent and Conceal both. Just search down a couple of pages its there.

Maybe just restating but the thing to note about MS as a Master Ranger is this:

Master Ranger using MS, is more a liability than not using it. I do not know if it is not "scaling" up, seeing that a Master Ranger is +100 Mask Scent or treating us more like a Non-Scout.

I run with "various" Scouts (people in my PA at various levels of Scouting tree). From Master Scout (BH's) to various skill levels.

Since the "implementation" and testing over the last couple of weeks, I have been "informed" by my groupmates, NOT to use Mask Scent as I am more inclined to draw aggro than by not using it and running by a mob instead (or steering around it).

As a Master Ranger, using MS should be a "back-up" skill that I should feel is going to be at least 50% more effective for me over a Master Scout (I know that might sound biast).

Right now, /Conceal is not worth the time, effort and resources for the low % of the time it works. It is even WORSE for a Master Ranger to use Mask Scent.

Go to Endor, Lok, Yavin, etc.. The "hard" planets are where a Ranger should EXCEL.... right now, I am being asked NOT to use /conceal or /maskscent as it becomes a detriment to my hunting groups. It is faster/easier for me to take an extra 10-30secs and run around an aggro mob(s) than use MS or /Conceal.

I am happy it may work for some people, but it is not working for me. I have ran the tests...

/MS... stand 80m from a mob... get detected, mob warps to you insta...

BH /MS... stands 40m from a mob.... waves, jumps up and down, etc.... mob totally ignores Master Scout (BH)....

Not just the "hard" planets, but has happened on Talus, Naboo, Corellia, etc... right now, my /MaskScent and /Conceal are a detriment to me and my group.

Again, take it for what it is worth, but in my testing and experiences these are the results. I am not asking to be 100% detectable proof, but at least I should be better than someone with Master Scout or working up the Scouting line tree.

Peace!

"Master Ranger using MS, is more a liability than not using it"

- Most likely, this feeling comes from the existing issues surrounding the breaking of /maskscent and /conceal.

- Namely the one issue you noted further down:

"I am more inclined to draw aggro than by not using it and running by a mob instead"

- As well, creatures that break /maskscent and /conceal tend to warp to your location

----

"/Conceal is not worth the time, effort and resources for the low % of the time it works"

- Theseissuesare noted in the State of the Profession list available via my signature.

I'm having same problems with maskscent as well, Imasked, went prone and crawled up to some crazed durmi last night to see just how useless it is to me now, I didn't get 40 meters away and got detected, as a CH, wanna be ranger, it's hard enough to make a living as it is, I used to sell grauls but now I may as well bring a platter with me and some napkins for them. On a lighter note, I did hear one graul say to another, "That tasted JUST like chicken!", heard another as I was waiting to get cloned say, "What's chicken?".

I was with a group last night, they all insisted I mask, I tried to tell them but nooo, no sooner than we were 80 or so meters away from one of our lairs, we had mites all over us, someone asked what caused all the trouble, told them my scent broke, everyone else in the group still had thiers on except me...what is tht all about? So, when I got back they insisted I mask again, same story, different lair, another trip to cloning facility, (at least I got my money's worth) the third time is a charmI have always heard, when I got back they insisted tht I NOT use maskscent and we did 8 lairs no p.

I just read something on the general board about BH that makes me think this is a bigger problem then just Rangers.

As a BH climbs the investigator skill, he is awarded +droid speed. ATM, as each skill is earned the droids take longer to return results. It seems the same way with /conceal and /maskscent.

As a novice scout with explore 2, It seems that maskscent is more effective than as amaster scout.

Now, from personal experience....At wayfaring 3 I used conceal quite a bit, and never understood why everyone was so against it. Now that I have Wayfaring 4 it seems to break everytime I use it.

It seems that certain skill mods are actually a negative. DEVS, please look into this!

Ido not mean to attack you, but I could care less where those issues are noted, if it is not on this forum (and on the developers desk). It is nice that you put the time into organizing your own webpage for our beloved profession, but please do not expect all of us (or even the developer) to add another forum to our reading list. I try to spend most my gaming time playing, not reading forums

I do question though the ethics (and perhaps motives) that as our newly by SOE appointed Ranger Correspondent you keep pointing in various posts to your non-station.sony forum. Is this forum not good enough anymore to keep the topics/list here?

If it is an issue, it needs to be discussed and listed here, not alluded by our representative to go to[his]forum to see the list!

"but please do not expect all of us (or even the developer) to add another forum to our reading list."

- The link is there for your convenience only...

- It consists of two pages:

  • One is a reference sheet that points back to this forum.

  • The other is a up-to-date list of issues, so I don't have to make a brand new post every day

- It's up to you, if you wish to read them...

- On the other hand, it enables everyone to see which issues the forum is already aware of, so that they don't repeat issues that already been noted.

- It also focuses on well written, or informative threads that everyone might want to read or debate.

- I don't see why that is so troublesome.

I tend not to follow links to other sites through a forum due to malicious JS applets, so not much chances of me following anyone's link anywhere from these forums, no offense intended but if I don't know someone personally or have gamed with them for 3 or 4 years, I am always suspicious no matter who you are.

It would be nice to have these notes sticky on this forum though.

Wow! NRass, now tht's very nice!! To think I played AC and UO and their information was on a need to know basis pretty much, this is kind of overwhelming. =) (In a good way)

I hope you didn't take offense to my previous post, it's just tht I have seen alot of strange things on the net over the years and have developed this paranoia...

- I don't want to be misunderstood here.

- The State of the Professionis a list compiled by myself based on issues reported on this forum.

- It is neither official nor recognized... yet.

- Tomorrow, I will post the full list and encourage a public debate regarding what our Top 5 issues for the half month will be.

- I will then send those issues to the developer for analysis and hopefully a response (like the one at the top of this forum).
