My goodness, this is an old post.

Yes, it has been suggested in later posts that a trap for capturing a live animal should be implemented.

The problem with the idea, is that it would not be very cost effective unless you could specify the type of animal the trap is supposed to capture...

This is the future, and I gather the trap would have some smarts built into it to ignore certain critters, and snare others. Very smart trap.

Not sure why the trap would have to work this way. Why couldn't the trap be designed to be thrown at a targetted BABY and be non-aggro to any other creatures in the area (i.e. the trap doesn't casue other social mobs to come running). If the trap hits, it immediately creates a creature deed in the Ranger's inventory. If the trap fails it immediately aggros any creautres nearby that would normally aggro during combat.

This trap is running further and further into the realm of the Creature Handler.

Why does a Ranger require to trap babies?

Unless we have some Creature Handling skills in the first place to do something with the creature, there doesn't seem much point in doing so.

And if a Ranger has Creature Handling, then way limit the ability to only those CHs that have Ranger?

Creature Handler does derive from Scout (in some form)... It might be valid for them to have such a trap.
