Thread: Ranger soloing tactics?
Ummm, and don't forget your Heal Damage macro and Stim B's or C's.

Jund Starstrider - Novice Pistoleer/Master Scout - Chilastra
I start off by using maskscent. Usually I start with rifle. For dark blues and whitesI sit back at 59m kneel, use aim then headshot. My to hit modifier for kneeling usually jumps to +35 or so, if I go prone then it jumps more to +50.That usually takes them out, (sometimes it doesn't). If they rush in, thenI switch to carbine at 35m and try to stop them with action shot and finish them off. If they are that close I also throw traps to help, usually spur or tranquilizer. Any closer andI switch to pistol.
Anything higher I start off with aim, then mindshot. Switch as they move in closer. When getting rushed I kite alot on these, and they do like to follow.
I am hunting on Rori right now, but have pretty much hunted on all the planets. If anyone would ever like to group send /tell to Irarda on Chilistra server.
Almost to Rifleman I (I want to be a big game hunter, so rifleman / ranger seemed best), but here is what I do for single red solos (Corellia Humabad's for example)
Requires two rilfe, one laser rifle, one spray stick
Get 60m.
Equip Laser Rifle.
Go Prone.
Repeat Headshot 2 until game begins to close or dies (if a few good head shots, this may happen, not often though).
Stand up. Switch to spraystick. Begin back peddling. Through a trap (if I have any).
Mindshot 1.
Repeat Headshot 2 until dead.
The reason I wait to mindshot is that I sometimes can kill the red before it closes to melee range, but if I use an essentially no damage mindshot, it pretty much always gets to me before dying, and then I am incap for 60-90 secs, if not dead.
Also, I use a spray stick only for the backpeddling because while it fires a whole lot faster, the laser rifle is better armor piecring, accuracy at extreme range, and has a much higher potential to get massive mind damage. The spraystick is faster, better at close range and much more likely to finish off a wounded animal quickly, at least in my experience.

If you have basic Pistoleer skills, it's even easier than all this.
Just stand there and Pistol whip them. Before the patch it was real easy cuz you could stack bunches and just stand there - never got bit. After the patch, they increased the HAM requirements which means you can't stack quite as many, but just inject yourself with a few stimps while the beastie is out cold on the ground and you are back in business.
I have soloed Sharnaff Bulls on Corellia with ease using this method - just be sure there isn't another bull around as he will help his buddy. But to solve that, just use healthshot from a distance - run out of range until the beastie comes for you - basically this is your 'lure' shot.
I don't use pistolwhip all the time because it is actually too easy and takes the thrill of getting incapped or killed out of the hunt, but it sure is good to have if things look like they are going badly. And, of course, if you want to show off in your group, it's a great ego feeder as you stand there toe-to-toe with a red con and not even get hurt!! (Note to Devs:This does not mean you need to do another nerf!!!)
Try it out - it's fun knocking down a huge Rogue Falumpaset or Sharnaff or whatever to the ground!!

I agree with that post ^^ I use pistol whip to "show off". People think "How much health do you have?!"
I use bleedshot to pull the creature away from his buddies, then I pistol whip, run, a few traps while he's down, repeat. All the while I'm using basic shots so as not to use up my action pool.
you can also invest in Tatooine sunburn, and drink a few before the fight. Uncanny amounts of action regen there ![]()
