Thread: EGGS, a new requirement we can jump on

I'm not a ranger yet, I'm just over here browsing because I'm thinking of switching. But I spent this morning running around screwing around with this, so I can add a few things. If you haven't harvested lairs for eggs since the last Big Patch, you wouldn't recognize it.

First of all, as best I can tell, there is only one kind of egg per planet now. (The ones on Rori/Kettemoor are pretty aggressively mediocre right now. Iwovaco:DR 624, FL 571, PE 127, OQ 97.) When you first start, it looks like each lair gives a different kind of egg, because they don't automatically combine into a single stack. Every so often, you have to stop and drag them on top of each other to stack them.

With Harvesting II, I'm getting a pretty consistent 1 to 4 eggs per lair. The level of the creature lair hasn't seemed to have made a difference yet.

Eggs are dropping from at least 70% of the lairs I'm searching now. A tiny handful report nothing inside. The rest still give jars of bugs for the bug bomb schematic.

The biggest change is that lairs can now be harvested for eggs more than once! It used to be that only the first person who tagged a lair got anything out of it. Now they seem to regenerate more eggs or bugs eventually. I haven't timed this precisely yet, but 15 to 20 minutes seems to have been long enough. I don't know if having players nearby stops them from regenerating, because my homeworld is pretty empty, but that might be the case.

With only Survival III, I was able to run around the beginner areas around a starter city tagging lairs and pile up over 100 eggs in half an hour. So at this point, while it is more labor intensive, harvesting eggs is about as fast as manually sampling for minerals, etc, and much faster than fishing has been for me.

To my minor annoyance, harvesting lairs doesn't give Scouting XP. So there is no incentive to do it other than money. But then, are there any rangers who aren't rich?

I don't know yet if higher levels of Harvesting give more eggs per search on average. If it doesn't, then the only advantage that rangers have over novice scouts, when it comes to harvesting, is a better chance of hitting lairs that haven't been harvested in the last 15 minutes (because they can safely go farther out and safely hit more lairs).

As for selling eggs, chefs can use eggs, but no current chef schematics require eggs. The only schematics that require eggs are bio engineer's Enhanced Bio-Strength (which only sells to chefs, so I don't know anything about it) and Enhanced Myoflex (which sells to tailors, to make products in huge demand among entertainers). As a (potentially ex-) tailor, I know for a fact that no master BE is getting all the eggs they can use, and given what they're charging tailors for the end product (can you say 80 to 160 credits per resource used?) there is no excuse for them to go cheap on buying eggs right now.

I have been Looting creature lairs for some time now and make a decent credit off doing it.

MY WAY:

My secret:If you are a Ranger with Medic skills all you have to do is medical forage: I make a 15 min. Macro to medical forage, then to rest and so on and so forth..... I will sometimes come up with beans and the occasional water in small quanity's but I will ussually get over 70 eggs.... FOR DOING NOTHING! I love it

My other not so secret secret: Go on a hunting party while not "fighting" mask scent you're self and loot the Picket and Bolma lairs I have found those give the best results in quantity NOT quality (currently im not a Egg Bandit so I do not know where and what the best lairs are to loot) and by the time you finsih off one Picket the Eggs SHOULD respawn. oh and regards to the post above I have tested the respawn time for lairs and it is almost always 9 Min.

P.S. Do NOT I repeat doNOT sell you're eggs for less then 12 Cpu even for the crappy stuff many BE's will be willing to dish out a load of credits for eggs.

Just spent the last two nights on Dathomir running around looking for Grauls and Rancors and searching every lair I found. This netted me a whopping 78 egg so if they need a lot of this the price is going to be incredibly high especially for the High Overall Quality egg.

"10 cr / egg? You're getting taken bad."

Agreed. I sell my stacks for 20 cr/unit, and even then they sell within the day.

Ensure that the stacks are large enough... I never sell under 100 eggs at a time.

Sorry to bring this post back after a week. I was asked by a BE to supply him with eggs. He wanted them in stacks of 15 and was paying 100 creds each. So yes 10 creds is low. Like I said before at least 30 to 40 creds in a decent amount. I ended up getting him 45 Endor eggs and 195 Yavinian eggs. 24K for a few hours of exploring. All it took was taking the chance of breaking maskscent when sneaking into the agro lairs. I just ran out in the wilderness about 5K and then on the way back there were plenty of lairs to search.

If you are selling them on the bazaar and are willing to go out and get more, then be sure to list that in the description. If the BE knows you are willing to help, then he will most likely help you also.

Good luck,

Well I have been able to sell eggs of stacks 5-10 for 10cpu with no prob at all. I tried that to see how fast they sold, and the four or five stacks I put up went within 24 hours. It is time consuming to get a lot of eggs, if I were to get a lot of sa 100 I would for sure try and sell for 30cpu. If the dont sell then I wont bother ever collecting and that is less eggs for for them get.

I'm sorry, but these BE, Tailors, CH, WS and AS make sooooo much money off of us, I have no problem charging 15-20 for medium and high quality meats. I keep hearing about how WS had to grind so much to get the point of making these weapons I want to buy, and that was a lot of time, blah blah blah. Well I have been grinding a lot of SEVERAL kinds of xp for me to be able to get to the good resources you want and to collect enough of it in short time to make it worth it. I also put myself at risk going out and getting it. What do crafters do? Sit in there shops and craft.

Now I know they have shops and vendors to maintain and upkeep. The parts materials cost money. But my time and effort and skill to get 5000 high quality hides or meats is worth a lot also. I have to buy their expensive guns so I can go out and get it. Not to mention every time there is a resource shift, I have to fly all over, Oh yea lets not forget travel costs, like endor is 8600 round trip, to find what planet and what creatures are giving the good stuff after shift. So don't get me started about how meat is being price gouged. What about weapons and armor being priced gouged?

There, I'll step off my soap box now.

I also supply the guy who pays 100cpu for the eggs. And I dont even hunt the eggs, I was hunting meat, both Avian and Herb, and just picked up 2 stacks of eggs along the way in about 3 days of normal hunting. 45k money plus I picked up 5-6k of meat in each type so it is good extra money, dont see the need to go out specifically for just eggs.

By the way thanks for the respawn time for the lairs, I thought it was a just once thingie.
