What is HTBF? lol
Hmm probably a HTFBK, a High Tech Field Base Kit camp.
I was a Ranger in EQ1, an Archer in AC1, an explorer and minerin EnB and Eve. I have always enjoyed being a hunter gatherer.
Now in SWG I can do what I enjoy AND get paid for the resources I get ![]()

So why would the devs want to nerf the HTFBK's, i mean they are harmless and one of the coolest things about a Ranger!
The people, definitly.
I became a Ranger because i was always broke. so yes, i became a ranger for money. but i kept it as long as i did because of all the friends i made.
also, even though i am no longer a Ranger (i wanted to pvp so i went for a more pvp-friendly template) i still hang around here.
In all seriousness, it wasn't in my initial gameplan. I'd envisioned playing a character who was an explorer more than a hunter, and the profession that fit that most was Scout. So I worked to Master Scout. Something funny happened during that trip-I found I enjoyed the hunt. And the skill boxes on Ranger looked interesting (even if they were somewhat misleading in the final analysis). Not to mention the folks who populate this forum as a rule tend to be sane (in comparison with other forums-don't read too much into that).
You could say that once I hit master, my journey to the ranger side was complete. I remain a ranger for many of the same reasons folks here have stated. I like the fact that there are not many of us, in comparison to other profs (like Jedi); I like the fact that it can make me money-enough that I'm not continually begging for scraps anymore; I'm too pigheaded to surrender it-even with the horrific SP costs. And I like the fact that on the occasions that I pop a HTFB next door to Coronet, I always get visitors who are impressed by the camp, even though its usefulness is extremely limited; I never get tired of seeing the comments from folks seeing one for the first time.
*sigh* all them non Ranger peeps just don't know what they're missing, nothing like going out hunt for a few hours, then finding the top of some mountain, setting up a camp and either enjoying the scenery or making some more traps to prepare for more hunting on the morrow. Since I have CH as well, I like to bring out a couple pets and just have them there with me sitting by the fire.
I've always been a Mountain Man at heart and this lets me live this in a way. I love displaying my tag because I know there isn't many other Rangers out there. I know that those I do see are in it for the love of the profession, and that kind of brings an instant kinship amongst us that refuse to drop it.
Plus when I first started, I'd been reading some of the other forums, and I started reading this forum, I tell you, it was refreshing to read this forum and see mature and intelligent posts compared to some other forums and I knew I'd found my niche.
For me, its because its what I like to do, in RL I go camping, hunting, etc.
