My advise? Just stop reading. I skip posts as soon as they turn negative. People have the right to complain, and people have the right not to read the complaints. Me? I turned a cartwheel as soon as maskscent gave me xp. That made the whole patch worth it for me. I love Ranger. I love the changes, even the bad ones. It's like a crazy puzzle, or like tracking an person who knows you're after them. Figure out how things are, how they want it to be, and how to turn it to your advantage. Speaking of which, I love tracking especially. I played Bounty Hunter (no, I'm not one) and tracked a friend of mine across Talus. It was difficult, but very entertaining. Of course it would be so much easier if you could select one of the creatures and hit /follow (maybe a suggestion Delta?). I almost cartwheeled again when I saw you could track BABY ANIMALS. Wow! This makes getting Creature Handler xp so much easier (yes, yes, B, I know, I know)! Haven't tried camo kits yet. I know there is some concern about the need for flora, but remember that doctors, bio-engineers, and a lot of other people who don't have Artisan skills need planet specific flora as well, so it seems fair enough. However, the devs seem to be very responsive to our requests, so keep mentioning it if you seriously want it changed. Just remember to catch bees with honey, not vinegar. I like the comment about the over-popularity of Rangers. Hehe. I admit to a few unworthy twinges of jealousy when power gamers started to hit master before me (can only play 2 hours a day). But then I thought... well, as long as they train me before they quit! /evilgrin Believe me, you can turn any disadvantage to an advantage.

It was bound to happen

When you get an influx of new Rangers you start seeing posts like

"Hey the 2 Ranger traps don't work"

"My thoughts on maskscent"

"How to get a lot of xp"

You know, redundant stuff we've all already discussed.

So give the new Rangers a warm welcome and be patient with the repetative questions. ( I personally after being a scout since launch, just learned you can experment on traps and camps...duh)

And write down the flamers and trollsnames and report them and ignore them.

I don't consider what you just posted to be a whine. It was thoughtout, respectful, and didn't use the word "sucks" even once.

I'm not asking that everyone cheerlead like me. I'm not asking that everyone be optimistic. I only ask that if you bring something forward that you think is a problem that you explain it, you be respectful of others and the Devs, and you try and develop a solution.

That's all - complaining is fine. Whining is not. That goes under the CH forum.

Well, I'm yet another one to jump into this mess...

I don't know what to say... Delta is right (fromhis other post) in being disappointed with us all. Right on P-Day (P for Patch :smileyhappy the forums lit up like a fire. Rangers I had never even heard from before all of a sudden were writing in like this is the CH Forum! (No offense, Creature Handlers)

Before, it seemed like our class wasgrowing as a group - discussing issues regarding teaming together and what to do for fun while we waited for small changes here and there. Now we are clearly divided. And I don't mean whether we like the patch or not.

My main point is this: Our being divided. There are great threads popping up (pros and cons about the patch) with some great replies, but I was floored the first time I saw a Ranger flame someone else about their point of view. Every time I see someone write "Ranger sux, man. **edit**?!?!" or "I can complain if I want to blah, blah..." or something to that effect... I cringe! This was a mature community, who respected each other almost to any end. Now, it's ugly...

I won't lie, I was disappointed when I tried /areatrack and found all the nearby vendors,because Ihad expected a bitmore. Well, history tells us that almost EVERY patch in EVERY game is buggy from day 1. It only gets better from there, trust me. I think the worst thing you can do is give up Ranger because things aren't working right 2 days after the patch. Wait until they get better - if you still don't like the working changes then it's ok to try something else.

Yes, you can post how you feel about the patch - whether you like it or not. Just please do so in such a manner as you would like to be written to yourself. We KNOW things things are broken, and about to be fixed, but honestly... how many people have to post "conceal sux"?

Rangers, I ask you to try a different approach. If you see a post that's not worth reading (i.e. it's someone whining) please just ignore it. Don't post a retort. People will post anything to get someone to hear their views, but if they are posting crap (sorry) it will be nice to see zero replies waiting for them at the end of the day.

I apologize for typing so much. I just keep ranting sometimes.

Right now, I don't know if my lack of excitement in the patch is from being let down, or that I am just tiered of being a Ranger. Well, before the patch I was. So I was hoping that the changes would breathe new interest for me. I am going to give it another go tonight since my PA has a big hunt this evening. Heck I even prepared lots of Camo kits for it.

I think it just comes down to, I am tiered of being sneaky, I want to blow things up!

I was thinking the same thing when the flaming started. "Good, Mr. Uber L337 will go away and I can be unique again".

I joined the Rangers after watching yu guys discuss topics in the threads and researching the positives and negatives of different classes. This forum has always been more respectful and "noble" then most others.

Am I a relatively new Ranger? yes. Do those of us who have not been Rangers as long have less feeling about the class? No. I love it. All the classes have tons of problems and we are no different then them. But the distinction between us and most other classes is the quality of the people in the profession.

If the influx of Rangers feels as I do then the additions will be positive. If they were xpecting "uber" then they will move on. Being first into the profession by no means distinguishes interest in the profession.

What happened with me , personally is that I am not happy with these changes . I feel that they were poorly designed and not properly tested . I am not happy with the early release of this game ... many of these issues have been brought up time and again by myself and MANY OTHERS since Beta . So while we wait for each major patch to roll around , and hope that the changes don't do more harm than good , and hope things weren't " slipped in " without notifying the customers ... and then beging another wait , for another list of changes , to fix the things that were broken with the previous changes and hope some of the lingering things at the back of the list get some attention ... I grow more and more frustrated with the game in general . My patience and optimism have limits .

I also find it amusing that many people have adopted a " ohhhh shush if you seem ungrateful then they won't fix anything else for a while " attitude . This kind of superstitious silly nonsense promotes the degredation of our status as PAYING CUSTOMERS .

The Devs are not doing any favours for us by fixing their broken game . They are not doing any favours for us by adding content tothe Rangerprofession ... IT WAS DEVOID OF CONTENT SINCE BETA . The Devs are simply doing their jobs ... and that is finishing the game and keeping the customers happy . And I would say amajorityof the Rangers are UNHAPPY with these changes .

I am unhappy with them to the point that I am considering dumping my Ranger skills and moving on . I'm tired of waiting for this profession to function properly .

And in a microcosm of the game in general , I'm going to give it a few more weeks and see if the enjoyment I'm getting out of it is worth the money I'm paying to play it . Right now it's right on the borderline . I feel the same way about this game that I do about a lot of movies I see . I find myself thinking how good it could have been . What if they had done this differently .... maybe the next one will be better ....

Going to give it a few more weeks but if this patch is any indication of the games future I won't be around long paying to test ... er I mean play it .

But good luck to all of you with it , and if your finding some fun in playing the game than I am happy for you .

I'm not superstitious. I just hate whiny people.

I make no claim that the game is perfect. But I've played MMORPGs before, so I know what to expect. These games are NEVER perfect.

They could have released this game with none of the content functioning, and I would have been happy. I've been waiting for two years for this game, actively waiting for it for six months before it came out, and I had it preordered the minute Amazon listed it. I honestly didn't want to wait any longer - so I was happy that it was released, in whatever for it is in.

I don't consider $15 a month to be an exorbitant amount of money- it's less than I pay for a movie. And I've gotten considerably more enjoyment out of this than any movie.

You pay money to play the game - you don't pay money to be a jerk. (This is the rhetorical you, not you personally, Jon). All I want is for us to discuss issues constructively.

There is nothing constructive about saying "This game sucks, all the devs do is **edit** it up" etc. You can think this, and you don't need to share it with anyone else. But if you are committed to making this profession better and you care enough to think up new ideas and present them here for peer review - go for it. But if you come here to whine, we don't want to hear it.
