Thread: Bounty Hunter Traps, huh?
BH don't have traps or tracking because Rangers do that. Period.
Oh oh oh but it would be logic!!!
Ya, and it would be logic for a ranger to tame creature, but CH do that, and it would be logic for rangers to cook from nature, but chefs do that, and it would be logic for ranger to help their party's terrain negociation, but SL do that.
Traps and tracking? We do that. Traps... lol, for gods sake, they have a lighting canon, pistol KD, and carbine, i would think they can manage to kill stuff.... And tracking droids too.
I am both a Ranger and a BH. I can see the logic behind giving BH traps that would affect NPCs. That's their job, hunting people. I find traps very useful in fulfilling my Ranger job (hunting critters) and often find myself wishing I could lob a stink bomb (so he'll bleed faster) or a glow-wire (so I'll hit harder) at NPCs.
I do agree that tracking is and should remain the exclusive domain of Rangers.
(Anyone notice I didn't mention any Ranger traps? hmmm....)
"Why Scout? A Scout is a frontiersman type who learns to master the wilderness."
Actually that seems tomore aptlydefine the Ranger profession, rather than Scout profession.
"Maybe we should be able to use a scatter pistol or LLC."
That would only make sense if the Ranger profession were given a weapon profession prerequisite.
"Why not allow Rangers to use tracking and seeker droids?"
Interesting... But if we do that, then we lose the reasoning behind keeping /areatrackin our domain.
- Namely, that the BH have high tech tracking, while we have the low tech version.

Most likely, BH traps would be in the form of darts to be used in a wrist launcher weapon that was campaigned for by Wepps some time ago...
- He brought the idea up on the Corr. forum, so I don't know how much public support was behind it.
Though, come to think of it, the idea sounds strangely familiar...
- Hmmm...
When I first learned of this game and that you could be a Bounty Hunter, I was thrilled! Thats all I wanted, to hell with the Jedi, BH the ultimate challenge of running around seeking bounties on people..players not NPC's. I did some investigating into BH and learned that I sadly could not Capture a player and turn him/her/it in to lets say Jabba or Vader or Borvo or Lady Valarian... The Whole BH tree is IMHO all sorts of **edit**ed up. Quaries now are to be terminated, quaries should also have an option to be captured. It would make sense that the BH have ways of capturing someone...IE a Mesh trap or a Tranq wep. About dealing damage...hmmm lets see here...in all the movies/books/comics/ccg's ect. I don't see one BH using an LLC. They Use Flamers (Commando), Carbines, Pistols and Rifles, not to mention Rocket Launchers (Commando) and Grenades (Commando). All sorts of **edit**ed up...and no tranq darts, no bolo's to wrap people up with...no mini rocket launchers. Ungh I'm so disgusted with the way the BH profession has been done in SWG. My 2nd calling was Ranger, and a Master Ranger I am today and will always be.
The Issue at hand:
BH's have something similar to our trackin and thats droids. They follow a target and report back to the BH on the targets whereabouts. They have no need for tracking, period.
Traps, yes traps for NPC's. I think that both professions should share *similar* traps for NPC's...IE Tranqs and Net/Mesh traps that immobilize our target. Rangers Could be certified to make them and Use them where-as BH's can only use them...making something for us to gather income with *HINT HINT*. Dunno just a suggestion. But I do support that as long as Rangers get NPC traps...so should BH's since we both have use for them.
My 2 creds

The BH have their droids that serve the same purpose.
Bingo...
Can someone, anyone tell me why BHs need scout?
They are PEOPLE hunters. Instead of mastering scout, an honorable profession only demeaned by their presence, wanna-be BHs should have to master brawler, an anti-PEOPLE profession.
This would stop the BHs from asking for traps, as they would have absolutely no trap experience whatsoever. It would give them more anti-PEOPLE experience, unless of course they spend their time picking on butterflies and gubbers.
As is well known, 90% of the BHs grind their way thru scout, never again to use it. Removing it and replacing it would only make Scouting a more honorable profession, and quell the trap argument at the same time.
And what would be the programming hassle? Simple convert current BHs scouting XP into Brawler and leave it at that.
