no, none that I know of - we never have been able to see bone type, even pre-cu. This would be a good thing to add to our known bugs / known issues list if it is not already there.

I don't think the table can take to many more pages of bugs...............

Funny, but this was actually a serious thread about the state of our /examine abilities. Would you care to comment on the topic at hand?

Although, at novice scout I'm not seeing "agressive" or "stalker". Is this still a yes/no category as it was pre-CU, or does it only say "stalker" for creatures who stalk, etc.
Maybe they changed it slightly, but these things used to list "yes" or "no" in the column. If it's still the same, I'm not seeing anything other than * difficulty at 4000 scout. (+5 creature knowledge).
Oh, in reference to some other questions.. I can definitely say that resists were available to all players. (creature knowledge doesn't apply to NPCs) I know that this was the case since at least December '03 -- before that, I wasn't playing so I can't say.
Here's my original list of Creature Knowledge info that I put together a while back.. This is all Pre-CU stuff, but it's probably useful to compare to what's available now.

Actually, you once could see bone type. Why it was removed, I have no idea. But it was there way back near the beginning of the game.
Yup i remember when we had bone type too and also have no idea why it was removed. Perhaps the devs forgot there is more than one type of bone per shift?
And yeah resists were always for all players. ![]()
well, the reason bone was removed, I think, is because it usually pretty easy to tell which creatures give which bone. There's only 2 types per planet- animal and avian. The ones that give avian bone are the ones that fly. I've never seen a flying animal drop animal bones nor a walking/slitering critter drop avian bones. Avian meat, yes. But bones, no.
So I think it was removed simply because you could tell just by seeing the creature was flying or walking.

I think you are close, but not quite right. I think the bone disappeared because of a bug and waasn't fixed for the reasons you stated. That's the cynic in me
you're probably right, but in the end it doesn't matter. If you can see wings, it gives avian. If it uses feet, it gives animal. Not a huge loss in my mind.
