Sorry if I missed this earlier...but can a mountedplayer...say an architect keep up with a mounted ranger? (mounts being equal)

"So there would be no point in a Ranger getting a CM?"

I presume CM stands for Creature Mount, and not Combat Medic.

Anyways...

Hunters who havehunting grounds far from town could use a mount to reach the area quicker, then dismount and store until the return trip.

If a Ranger is in a hurry to get back to town, a Mount could be used to outrun aggressive creatures on the way back.

That is a couple of uses that I see myself using, once Mounts are released.

"I presume CM stands for Creature Mount, and not Combat Medic"

Umm yes sory about the confusion. I was being lazy .

Thanks for the clarification. It sounded like form our previous post that Rangers were just as fast as some one mounted.

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.

From the latest response by TH it seems that when you get aggro'ed you will be able to just gallop away from combat if you don't want to engage. Doesn't that make /maskscent and /conceal somewhat useless since their whole point is to avoid combat?

From whatI have seen on TC, you can't literally gallop away. If you get aggroed, you still have to be faster than the mob...i.e. I could only barely outrun a spineflap guard on my mount, which I could only barely outrun on foot. They usually lose interest and stop attacking before I can outrun them. I have never galloped through a group of aggro, so I am not sure if you slow down, but if you fire back, you slow for combat, so keep your weapon holstered if you want to outrun anything. Anyone else with knowledge on the subject, please comment if I am wrong on anything.

**They are going to be making CL-10 versions of the mountable critters so that non-CH's can ride any animal**

Did I miss a meeting? I thought I read the mounts were going to be handled different than pets. Any creature useable as a mount can be used by any person. At least, that was my impression. The only thing was they needed trained by a high level (probably master) CH.

Has therebeen official notification from the devs about the player/CL question?

Mounts are being handled the same way as any other type of pet...

  • You must be able to call them in order to use them.

At the moment, that limits Mounts to <=15 CL in the current system...

  • In the new CH plan, a limit of <=10 CL is being considered.

Bio Engineers will be able to create creatures of sufficiently reduced level to ensure that all mountable creatures are usable by Non-CH.

  • With the caveat that a Creature Handler must try them to be Mounts.

One thing I haven't seen asked,

Can a mount be called out in the wild (away from town or camp)?

If not this would require a camp (scout skill)to call a mount when away from town (return trip from where ever you have gone).

Calling a Mount is the same as calling any creature, you will need a town, camp, or declared residence.
